  • Can you tell me why my adapter did not stay on green after I plug in.? please help. This is

a new 65w T-shape adapter i just got. Thank you.

  • Nasty toe fingers!

  • Yeah I broke mine like that -_-

  • how powerful is this magnet that you cant just pull it straight out??

  • this guy is a legend

  • 0:58 magnet

  • Windows, the computer that doesn't require a guide to charge it

  • @mynameisjavin Windows is an O.S not a computer just saying

  • Very informative.

  • i do this shit and it still breaks...

  • i personally karate chop the connecrtor off

  • how to unplug the magsafe charger:

    Trip over it!

Lol. Nice video, I hope this helps others with this problem.

  • Hey honey. That was a very informative video. I really do appreciate it. =)

  • heres an idea, use common sense and buy kit that is made properly!

  • This is not actually the only reason why the MagSafe wiring fails. The "strain relief" on the cord-side of the connector body is too rigid and too short so any bending or flexing along the length of the cable that ends at the connector will be concentrated on a very narrow segment at that end. There are fewer "exposed wires" failures and more "burn mark near connector" failures and these are caused by bending, not yanking.

  • Is this a joke?lol. If people don't know how to be careful and treat their belongings carefully then maybe they shouldn't have them. Reminds me of the person who 'apparently' got burns on their legs from a hot laptop. When i have a laptop on my lap i can feel the heat from it. What kind of idiot sits there until they get burned, if it's even possible. I know laptops get hot but i'd had mine on my lap video editing and not got burned. And it gets really hot doing that

  • thanks for the vid , but it's obvious , because it's like that with EVERY power cord, (your vacuum cleaner, your charger for mobile phone , etc. ) good video though, sound quality not tooo good

  • Do the Apple fanbois also need tutorials on the way of pushing a toilet's flush button? Looks like it could be challenging for them too ;)

  • HOW INFORMATIVE. This video is a waste of bandwidth.

  • @Pubesy101 you suck balls idiot. he's only trying to help you!!!!!

  • How to plug in the transformer?

  • I usually unplug it by tripping over the chord. Seems to work just fine for me :)

  • you saved my magsafe.. and my penishole

  • what is that little white thing that hangs on the cord used for?

  • @boyt0mmy when you wrap the wire around the supply block, you can clip the end of the wire to a wire already coiled to keep the wire contained.

  • @boyt0mmy thats a clip so you can attach the end of the cord to itself, so it doesnt unravel when would around the transformer.

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • @hiongchong Eventually, if you pull it from the wire, it's gonna separate, too.

I've gone through 3 laptop chargers that way, Mac and PC.

  • anyone pulling a wire to unplug things are idiots

  • 2.54 mins to say "dont pull it out by the wire" this is so fucking drawn out its untrue.

if they reinforced where the 2 parts come together this wouldnt happen, its done delibratly.

  • wow thank you for the video :D. ive been pulling the wire and its messing up my magsafe and i didnt even know.

  • Are you kidding? It almost scares me how you are talking about such a simple thing with such dynamically over-inflated rhetoric. How about sssssaving everybody a little time and .....woah .....wow i don't even know what to say ...OH YEA! -read up on OCD man. Get the book on it...then don't do it anymore. BOO hahahaha .....BOO! hahahaha

  • is this for imbiciles or something?

  • Thank you! :]

  • Thanks I didn't know! I'll tell some people, it might save some MagSafe cables! :)

  • whats the diff. apple will just give u a new one for free if it breaks

  • thats what she said from 2:10-2:15

  • thanks this saved my cord i always used to yank it lol

  • I never knew about this but I guess I'm glad I've been doing it the right way throughout my years of owning Mac's.

  • What a finicky piece of utter shit. I went in to the Apple store with my buster power cord, and they made me buy a new one, but they didn't inform me of this so called "technique" for removing the cord. Now my second one has the same problem. Why don't they just build a power cord that isn't utter crap. My old Dell didn't need a special technique to remove the power cord. Its fairly idiotic to require a special method.

  • i just slide my hand over it with slight downforce and it quickly and it pops off. Makes for a real disconnect and works fine.

  • 0:33 Looks like a crotch! Apple subliminal messages!

  • lol apple computers suck except for their ipods...

  • I think it's great of you to try to help people to not make this mistake. It seems reasonable if you take a minute to think about it.

I do however wish that they had made the hard plastic end that connect directly to the side of the laptop a little bigger. Then it would be easier to grab for big fingers and little ones too.

  • thanks! i knew there was something wrong the way i was unplugin the connection :/ i was like.. is that right? ha ha good thing i decide to look for help.

  • umm its designed IN CASE some one trips over the cable. Do you trip the cable two times a day? doubtful. Just dun b a lazyass and youre fine. Personally i like the push down aproach can do it same time you close lid :D

  • thats no good. the magsafe adapter is supposed to be made so that if someone trips over the power cable it just breaks away instead of pulling your Macbook off your lap. but if you have to do it this way its kinda stupid.....you would still have to gaurd the cable heavily to prevent wear.....

  • same with ipod cord

  • @ghostman8484 osX

  • Comment removed

  • You don't pull any plug by the cord. The only reason other cords don't have a problems is because you can't do this. Anything I don't care what it is, if you bend it back and forth enough time it will brake. People just don't have any common sense and wan't to blame there stupidity on something or someone else.

  • @ gmcniel66 - True but sadly common sense is something most people lack

  • Yep

  • Apple is messed up....

they design this unique power adapter so if people say trip on the cord it doesnt take the laptop with it, yet it is unsuitible to pull the cable to remove the adapter :| wtf

  • It is designed to be tripped over a dozen times or so in it's lifetime. Not be yanked out every time you unplug it. I mean I have over 150 recharge cycles on my macbook and that isn't even how many times I have unplugged which it could be over twice that in just a year.

  • @cookiemonster11123 Yeah but that's the only time that it would be pulled by the cord. It's just a safety precaution it's not meant to be pulled by the cord all the time didn't your mom tell you never pull out electronics by the cord?

  • 0:34 o jesus! i thought that was something els!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • me too xD

  • Same

  • You know, it's pretty bad when you have to do a video on how to unplug a power cord from a item. Common sense should dictate that you NEVER pull the cable but instead, grab the plug. I do admit that I was checking out the reviews on this adapter and a lot of people have rated it crappy. It's a cool concept but the quality control on this thing is atrocious! Thanks for the vid though.

  • only idiots pull the cord

  • You are not supposed to disconnect anything by its cord not just a mag safe

  • bouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. 2:54 on how to disconnect magsafe power adopter? Jeez!! It's like having a 5 minutes demonstrating video on how to use shampoos

  • Well apparently people need the help.

  • you got waaay too much time on your hands

  • if it does seperate, as with headphone cables, you can get the rubber around the wire back into the collar bit, all you do is start at the opposite end of the wire and squeeze and run your 2 fingers down until you get to the end. So it moves any extra wire covering to the end

  • Wow this was way too long. I lost interest a few seconds into it. Could be shorter by 2 mins 45 seconds.

  • Blah blah blah. This should have been six seconds.

  • Ive been doing this for 3 and a half years and it doesn't break yet. How long does it usually takes for average people to break it?

  • Apple care doesnt cover the power adaptor??

  • Boolshit

  • learn to spell

  • omg thats how you do it i never wouldve guessed!

  • what a fucking idiot

  • i broke my adaptor from doing this :$

  • what a horrible design, if you can't do what come natural to you.

  • natural is actually to grab the connector not cord. He's a dumbass who didn't no that.

  • omfg how dumb do you have to be to need a tutorial for this?

next: how to disconnect a usb stick from ist port

  • lol i know,

uhm i havbe a noob question i never had or really sen a mac but what is the mag safe i saw it in a ad with the im a pc im a mac, and something about it damgaging the system, what is it?

    thanks,

  • It uses a magnet to hold it to the computer, like deep fryers, to avoid pulling the device off the desk should someone trip over it.

  • Wow.... so some apple fans are so dumb that they need a step by step tutorial on how to not ruin an adapter plug?

JUST DON'T YANK ON THE CORD!!! THIS APPLIES TO ALL DEVICES THAT USE WIRES!!!

  • all this over a stupid wire, seriously apple fail at everything all they want is money IPHONES DONT EVEN HAVE BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER YOU HAVE TO BUY IT ""

  • wait isn't is designed so that if someone kicks the wire it wont break? Then they say 'don't pull it by the wire because it will break'. And anyway Apple lies again by claiming to have created this when its been on deep fat friars for years. Apple bullshitting again

  • Pulling on it multiple times will eventually break it. The point however was not that the power adapter wouldn't break, its that the laptop would not get pulled off a table but instead it would just break the adapter would. Thus saving you hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

  • ugh. i hated the old power adapters! i went through 2 in the life of my ibook, and my friend also did. and my brother just broke his yesterday! if you've ever owned an ibook or powebook then you know what i mean.

  • Are people really that stupid? MagSafe aside you don't pull any wire out like that.

  • yes. fraying is a terrible thing

  • Great video thank you

  • what is an "Apple MagSafe power adapter"

  • The MagSafe Power Adapter is a Power Adapter it does what it's called it's the computers power cord but the Mag in MagSafe Means Magnetic therfore preventing flying laptops

    Hope this helped

  • oh thanks i've never owned a mac :P

  • LOL at ''flying laptops''

  • GUYS! the dude is just trying to help and inform. give it a break, stop the sarcasm.

no wonder the world is having a hard time progressing with positivity. everyone feels and talks like a superstar. look at the good intention please.

  • @lester009: John - Yes, indeed, on BOTH counts. The video about Mac power connectors is quite informative, of course, and YOUR comment offers advice that many YouTube users should heed. Many YouTube comments are beyond despicable. Thank you for being a voice for reason, common sense, and good manners.

  • Comment removed

  • apple should put a thicker wire....

  • that happened to me :( i still hav no money to buy a new one still saving

  • the magsafe is for if you trip on the cord then it wont drag the macbook down

  • idk why apple did this, i hate the magnetic adapter, it always unplugs, why couldnt they just stick with the original ones?

  • It's actually a very good design. I've never actually dealt with the MagSafe connector, but the principle behind it is great. It's essentially a ZIF type connector, so you never have to worry about internal components wearing out from bending and such. Also, tripping hazards are significantly reduced because the adapter doesn't really enter the body of the computer, it just sticks against it more or less. I'll take a plug falling off from time to time over a broken socket on my laptop.

  • Ask technical support staff and they'll tell you how many ripped off power units customers bring into get fixed.

Tripping over power cords is one of the top ways that laptops get destroyed.

A power cable that comes out easily at the expense of it sometimes being too easy, is a lot less a hazard than having your laptop ruined because you, a family member, or a pet got their foot caught in the cable.

  • Nice MacBook.. it actually looks like it's 15 inches

  • good video

  • Thanks for the video. i have been pulling mine out as shown but using the wires to pull it out not the little prong. Good to know. Some people pull it out directly using the wires and without an angle which makes it even harder to unplug.

  • This is a super stupid design. Instead of asking people to unplug the adapter in an unnatural way, they should redesign it and give free replacement to users.

  • i dont think that it is so bothersome that it would need to be a free replacement. maybe it could be free to those that broke theirs, but the magsafe power adapter is such a selling point, that unless they make something even more appealing, nothing is going to change.

  • @michjun

You should never remove any adapter by gripping it by the cable anyway. The plastic part is always the safest. Many cables get ruined this way. I've done it to a number of USB cables :(

  • Nice video-- although i always pull it from the cord and I've never had this problem. Apples adapters are defected. the cord always splits at each joint.

  • thanks!

  • Very useful, thank you :D never thought it that way.

  • Nice to see I am not the only one trying to plug the Mag Safe into the USB from time to time... see @ 1:38 ;-)

  • lmao

  • So the cord doesn't work properly for what it was designed to do?

Isn't the point of the Magsafe connector to protect your computer from flying off a table or something when someone trips on the cord?

    What happens when someone does?

Does the connector push itself down so it doesn't strees the sleeve?

No, it pops out. Like it's supposed to.

It's dumb people that fuck around with their cords and do stupid stuff with them that fuck up the power adapter.

    Nice try though!

  • but i would rather replace my adapter than my macbook + all my work on it

  • What is the difference between the magsafe and the wall adapter... dont they both just charge the laptop the same way?

  • LOL! There is only one adapter, one end plugs into the wall. and the other end goes into the Mac

  • Comment removed

  • I do not agree, goof

  • i think my iq just dropped a few points lol... hahahaha... or or... we can just pull it out :P

  • Retard!

  • lets make a tutorial on how to turn on your computer the right way, or type something correctly

  • Thanks for the link. As a Mac Virgin, I need all the help I can get. (Just brought my MacBook home today after 22 years of PC use.)

  • lol its like you just gave birth to a baby..

  • Apple should improve the quality of the Magsafe power conector

  • yeah

  • Although this is common sense, its a little contradictory in the idea behind the design.

The Magsafe adaptor was design to unplug with minimal amount of effort in case of someone tripping over the power cord or something.

  • omg, if anyone actually needs this tutorial, they shouldn't be allowed near a computer, seriously. Although, I have to give 5 stars to the video, because I know the world is full of people that definitely need it.

  • isn't it a bad idea to even put a magnet next to (or in) a computer to begin with?

  • It's Fine, the new macbook Aluminum has a whole truck's worth, that is how the lid stays closed. They did not put any magnet near the hard drive to protect it from interference, but the other components are sheilded

  • no if you open a HHD you will se that there i 2 strong magnet next to the "cds"

  • It actually requires a damn strong magnet to properly destroy a hard drive.

  • m8 i think everyone does know by now how 2 unplug a mac ac adaptor or anything in a matter of fact

  • pure common sense

  • also aplies to iphones and ipods

  • This was just pure logic to me.. Why would you pull any electric device from the cord? That's just stupid.

  • if this helps, u can clearly see it at 0:51

  • Great tip

  • Thanks! In the little book that comes with my new Macbook (just got it today!) it says never to unplug from the cord, but it doesn't specify to hold the plastic part, so I thought they wanted me to always unplug the PLUG from the WALL. o_O Glad you explained it!

  • LMAO

  • U should NEVER EVER pull on a wire or cable. not any where and definatly not pull it from a power outlet. worst case senario u can get electrecuted(sp). I cant understand why ppl do this? Isnt it comon sense, if u pull on plastic it will break sooner or later...

  • hi! lock just to say please remove our batery becausey if you are whit you´re baterio on max. you´re batteri will dure les time ok just the chager end no battery! more questions just ask!

  • yeah the exposed wire thing happened to me too :(

  • BAD BAD, good thing I have been unpluging it the right way =)

  • How much does a Boot Camp Gaming Mac cost?

    Something like:

    3.0 Ghz Duo Core Intel

    4 GB ram

    9800 GeForce

  • no.

  • im buying a macbook next week, but just the basic one.

do all macbooks come with this cord or just the pro's?

  • they all have them..

  • all of them com with it

  • Thanks man. I wish I had read that manual months ago, because I have nearly ruined my power adapter after 19 months of continuously pulling it from the cord. Very useful vid.

  • What about just kicking the brick across the room? :P

  • HAHA! interesting method! :P

  • Your not supposed to pull any plug out with the wire. You are not supposed to with wall plugs also. It will eventually pull the wire out of the plug itself. Do not pull with the wire with ANY plug.

  • thanks for the tip, never going to just pull away directly with the cord, and btw, how come ur username is dell1032 if u use macs

  • Because I used to buy Dell before switching to Apple and this is an old screen name I had when I was using Windows 2000 in the beginning of the decade. If I ever needed to buy a PC laptop I would seriously consider getting a Dell.

  • you should get the MacMagSaver - - to protect the tip.

  • Hmm.. This video is usefull, so I'll gave this video a 5 Star... lol.

  • lol at least our macs work unlike your shitty pc's

  • yes i agree they work very well

they keep our paper weighted down nicely

and that paperweight that costs more then a useful dell so it proves that your high society

  • no crap dude!

  • Wow. Now all we need is a video showing us how to plug it in :\

  • No sh*t Do people ever remember the saying "Never pull the plug by the cord" ?

  • well..apparently not

  • dont run with scissors....crap.

  • DUHHHH!

  • Of course you don't pull from wire! I've known for years...geez you people need a YouTube video to figure out commonsense.
