This show must have really got in a lot of kids mind...a big corp's dream today. He used to scare the hell out of me and my siter...we could not wait untill he came on....and then would run around and around in the house screaming like hell.... LOL. never forgot the show...thanks to the net...a small memory can be relived. and as I have gotten older..I can see why ,," He's One Ugly Mutha Fucka" arnold schwartzeneggar. LOL the dusk dawn between night and day adds a scary element too l
man, had forgotten all about Sivad, my sister dated his brother once. we use to watch and make fudge, would eat with my feet off the floor, Just in case of rats lol
WHAT THE??? unreal. I used to get freaked out by this as a wee little one. I grew up in memphis and had totally forgotten about this. Great to see it now.
I remember being absolutely terrfied by the music and the intro video to this when I was growing up - BUT, as soon as I saw Sivad talking and could tell it was all an act, I got over it. But I used to have bad dreams of that now corny intro video!
I LOVED Sivad & Fantastic Features!!! At one point they aired one movie on Friday night & a double feature on Saturday night. I think this may be the only surviving video from the show. I believe the reused the tape each week. I know when WHBQ ch 13 had wrestling, they would tape over the previous weeks show. They probably did the same thing with Sivad.
Found you looking for old Target songs. What a great find! Never thought I would see this again. I have great memories as a kid watching Sivad and being scared to death! Thanks for posting!
I grew up in the Orpheum theater when I was a small kid. My father was the manager of the Orpheum when it was run by Malco theaters. Watson Davis had an office there. I was SO SCARED of him without his makeup!! I would love to have a copy of this video. If anybody knows where I can download a copy.....
This is one of the most pleasant finds I can think of coming across since surfing on the web. I use to watch this show every Sat nite back in the day. And I still claim to this day that if cable had been around in the 60's Sivad would have been an national hit of huge porportions. He did it before Elvira, and everybody.
The last time I saw Sivad was as a scared little kid living at NAS Millingtonin in 1966. Sivad had me shaking and so scared out of my mind I used to go sleep with my older sister. As I grew older I used to recall the theme music and opening scenes of Fantastic Features. I used to wonder what happened to Sivad. When I heard of Sivad's death I was deeply sadden. God bless you Watson Davis/Sivad and your family too. You are a part of my childhood that will never die.
Sivad was great . He scared the bejesus out of me too. Most of the films that he hosted were crap, but he was the real star of Saturday nights. My mom was glad to see the show cancelled in 72 as it was wearing her out .
Yep. I remember watching these and I was like... 7? 8? and then I'd have to sleep with the covers pulled waaaay up and hope there was no such thing as monsters. heh. Nightmares and heart palpitations were just part of the territory.
I think I still have this on tape. I saw this back in 1990. When RKO sold WHBQ, the folks there put together a goodbye to the RKO days tape. This was on there with a whole bunch of other WHBQ stuff. TV was a different business back then. And you can't beat a vampire doing Lugosi with a Southern accent!
@newsboyarizona I have the videotape too! There is a mock news story about Mother Theresa and WHBQ Anchorman, Ed Craig, not being in the same place at the same time...because they are ONE IN THE SAME! Funny stuff! . Some Happy Hal and Talent Party clips. Dave Brown and Charlie B. Watson's last newscasts on WHBQ. A takepff on the Eyewitness News called EYEWINGIT. Tons of cool stuff on the tape 50s, 60s, 70s..up to the mid 80s.. What a RICH time in Memphis television history.
This brings back so many wonderful memories we could not wait for Saturday night, we would gather around the TV with home made pop corn. Thanks Steve for saving a part of the past for me

Yea but there were many horror movie host on local television in the 60s. But Sivad was the best of all of them.

I used to scream and hide my face every time I heard that music and saw Sivad. Even now that I am in my 40's, the music still scares me. :)
