However it has been on my mind lately. I think I heard doctors talk about the BOMB and we have it. And my mum, who I dont really speak to much lately as I have been dumped with my dad, since stopping medication, wellll my mum decided to strike up the courage to ask me who are these people I talk about bombing and slapping the whole time, as they are only trying ti help. Thanks alot mum for helping me fuck up my life..
however I am sure the future and my actions will tell me all of this. Lately, although thinking it idiotic, I have thought maybe tom cruise (a scientollogy memeber) (..whilst i was watching t.v offcourse) had helped me (or robbed/ fought against me with all I own (read it somewhere) (due to my behaivour offcourse) in london. I dont really picture myself (not now that it isnt or wasnt) guiding a missile towards his general direction.
sometimes, that also gets on my nerves, because it is ten years now. So i could think i could have done it earlier. especially after whatever problems I am clearly stuck with in london in 2003 (i.e peoples help), various struggles only leading to me being unkowingly drugged, visiting a doctor, prescibed solian for a-typical psychotic synrdromme, stopping treatment for the return of such problems, being hospitalized and put on very heavy meds for three years. I have been off for two years,
I constantly find stuff out. Is that pyschosis? i.e i hear about numbness in genitals, and then being educated, and hearing friends talk, reading stuff, I suddenly come up with some conspiracy about psychiatrists, woman a desirable (so hence the test with a female nurse) object, and having read that desire leads to death.
This leads me to revenge. Something not easy when it means that first person would be guilty, second it is not so rare, so what is my fuss about.
part of me thinks taking pills might be bad for you but on the other hand you hear of children at school who have benefited from medication and has improved their school performance. i have mixed feelings about medication. i think in some cases people some people actually benefit from it but only for certain conditions liek learning disorder caused by short term memory issues.
I was watching about how Bradley Manning (who released the Wiki leaks videos) is locked in solitary confinement in a small cell and he is not allowed to exercise or sleep- he has no pillows, sheets & this has been for 7 months--in addition they are feeding him psychiatric medications---I'm wondering if these medications could be causing irreversible side effects to his body and mind. I think people for Manning should sign a petition that gets him a pardon from the President.
"a stunning disconnect, a chasm of misunderstanding"... why aren't psychiatrists acknowledging side-effects and complaints? Because they genuinely believe that they do not answer to the patient / client. There is NO DOUBT or DENIAL that "the industry" has come under Great Suspicion and is "charged" by the public with neglect and abuse.
of the many faculties of mind, Intellect and Psyche are most Valued, Esteemed and Desired. Consciousness itself resides in the PSYCHE. It is written in the bible: "kill the psychics" and i do strongly suspect that "the industry" seeks to do just that. They don't call them ANTI-PSYCHotics for nothing. There are at least 3 states of psyche that i am aware of: Psychic, Psychotic (symptomatic) and drugged / medicated. Also, psyche is a goddess who is said to be married to Eros (sexuality). :)
Excellent Work. Such complex issues within issues, so weighty. The one matter that struck me the most is "the greater his or her departure from the guidelines.... aggressive, counter-response". It seems to me that this ALSO applies to clients / patients. Speaking from personal experience, my rebellion, refusal and non-compliance were punished in various ways; the greatest, but not only, was additional diagnosis. antipsychiatry-org
Love you being back Dr John. I can see it as well - even more so as I am interested in neurological disorders and an intrest myself in neuropsychology
I am so thankful that these videos are available on youtube. The message might not be too popular right now but I think it will gain strength over time as people become more aware of these huge issues. Change would do us all good. I would love to sit in on some of John's lectures if I ever got the chance.
This is very well thought out and articulated perfectly. I view psychiatry similarly to faith in that there's no scienticfic backing for it. Medications are the same way in that they're useful as a placebo only if the patient believes it's doing something. The parallel is that psychiatry and big pharma sells pills the same way many churches sell God, but do they really believe in them (him).
I screamed "YEAH YOU (expletives), TRYING TO CRAM DRUGS DOWN MY THROAT" and "Yep!" a few times. It's nice to know doctors actually know what they're talking about. I've had bipolar/schizophrenia/manic since I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and it's like you said, they just put a stigma on me and gave me drugs. they made me feel horrible so I just learned to deal, talk to the social worker every two weeks, and I'm doing fine without pharms. Great watch, Doc.
I love you John!! You are saying what I have needed to hear from a professional psychologist!! I believe I am not just a mental body of thought, and I believe in my rights not to be abused by the psychiatric system any longer!! I have been off medication since mid 2007. I am healthier after going through a slow detox, and two lengthy periods of veganism, a year or so each. I am a Reiki Master, and a psychic. I am clairsentient. I am an artist and musician. I heal animals and people. I have love.
@ladyofanda "Abused by the psychiatric system?" I don't understand. Were you forced into the "system?" Are psychiatric patients led to their shrink with a gun and forced to take pills?
I was prescribed 3 different SSRI's. After 5 months, I realized I had no emotional output. I felt nothing. I became completely apathetic about everything. Life went downhill. Stopped SSRI's. All voluntarily. Never again. I know people who would go mad, literally, & become very dangerous without SSRI's. Not me.
@ladyofanda So, you're psychic, and do Reiki & clairsentience? In the 80s I was journeying in those directions as I was an atheist & drug addict with an intense spiritual thirst & longing for something real. I tasted what you speak of, along with Silva, much new age, & a peek at satanism. In 88 I met God personally. He was introduced by His Son, Jesus, who is the only Way, Truth & Life. Addiction cured, life changed instantly. The "power" you excersice is a counterfeit of the real thing, Jesus.

I used to like this channel, but man this guy spams it with nonsensical rantings. We get it, you don't like practiced medicine. There is nothing helpful here.
@BigMac8000 Well, he does have a few helpful things and I do like to look at both points of view before I have someone else do the thinking for me. My problem with John Breeding, psychologist, is that he presents his argument in a lopsided way. Please show me where he provides us evidence that psychiatrists have helped people? What Breeding does is take the worst case scenarios and bases his anti-psychiatric conclusions on that. If you want to hear scientific methodology, you won't find it here.
At the end of the day, we want to hear about what can be done to help ourselves, not to hear someone pincushion the failures of modern medicine. The studies he lists are all sound studies - but he is surveying and then drawing a major conclusions about the state of modern medicine by highlighting normal shortcomings. It sounds like someone's student paper at a cheap community college. I hope he has something to put forward other than sensationalizing basic cognitive problems.
If you wikipedia "List of Cognitive Biases" you'll get hundreds of ways things are misconstrued, this isn't news. There's no where to go if you just discredit everything because of minutia - modern medicine succeeds and fails, if you want to talk about those, make it a personal anecdote, not untested vague assumptions. Saying "don't trust your doctor... he's a flawed human." doesn't help anyone - it's just sensationalizing SOME failures it has had. Also, see "information bias".
@BigMac8000 I am glad that you are pointing these things out. I am using my right to free speech to point out that Dr. John Breeding is not a practicing psychiatrist. Dr. Thomas Szasz was/is a psychiatrist, but not Breeding. "Dr." John Breeding earned his PhD and for this, he is recognized as a doctor. Breeding is a man of words. His broad generalizations and demonizing others speak volumes and make me ask questions about his motives. Did he have any scientific training? Does he have experience?
As with other commentors, I feel that the dysfunctional effects of my depression or anxiety are the result of a difficult life. Both with family and social history. How does drugs such as effexor or welbutrin help to make right the stress and unfairness that existed before the "desease" of mental distress began. Seems like a very poor band-aid.
Thank You for the video. I always enjoy your take on things. ( I don't mean that to sound disrespectful) I want to wish you & your family a Merry Christmas.................................. from Williamsburg Virginia.......
It's kinda funny, you (Dr Breeding) mention a few things I've been personally looking. Psychiatrists really have no clue. Looking from the biological perspective to support the medical model and Big-Pharma has lead to faulty and completely inaccurate pseudoscience. They have no idea what 'mental illness' really is. But they sure know how to create it. Direct to Consumer drug ads, 'awareness campaigns' for mental illness, and drugs that create the very side effects associated with the 'disorder'.
Wow, this is really interesting stuff! It never occurred to me that in reality saying "I have a disorder it's not my fault" would make people look at you differently. :(
For 8 yrs I tried to tell doctors that I had sexual dysfunction after being forced to take neuroleptics and discontinuing them. FINALLY I found a doctor who took me seriously enough to run some tests. Although most of the tests turned out normal, he concluded that I am evidently numb in my saddle area after he did a threshold test with a pin in the presence of a female nurse. It was as though they amputated a part of me. I have been like this now for over 27 yrs. For more see my channel
Psychiatry is a fake science that is invented by people who want to dictate social norms.
"it only takes one person to have a disease it takes two people to have a mental illness"
The true problem that we have is the narrow view of what is excepted social norms... and the people that dictate those norms.
I said some harsh things about you on your last vid... and I want to apologize for that. It was a bit extreme... I do agree with much of what you say.
