Hi Phil Hartman fans. The campaign to help get Phil Hartman his stars on the Canadian and Hollywood Walks of Fame is still on. Please check out our Facebook page "Phil Hartman for Walk of Fame". Anybody in the world can vote to get Phil his Canadian star. He's earned the honor, let's give him the gift! We hope to see you there! Thanks.
You'll note that parts of each SNL episode will not appear in the iTunes or Netflix versions. This explains why you don't usually see the musical guest's performances. Sadly, the farewell to Phil Hartman was also removed in the iTunes / Netflix edit.
Anyone know which show this sketch appeared? Was it the one with Heather Locklear hosting? I'm trying to see if they have it on one of the episodes on netflix
@Kain5th I think it was the season finale from 1994 where Heather Locklear was hosting with musical guest Janet Jackson. That was his last show as a cast member.
Phil Hartman created a cartoon back in the 1970's called The Secret World of Edgar Screw Head, now in the works by Phil's brother, Paul, and friend John Paragon! Check it out on Facebook and have fun with it! Google it to see the new live site, as well! It will be awesome seeing Phil's work back in production again!
Phil Hartman is back in the news again, thanks to his brother and one of his fans, as they are working hard to get Phil his star on Canada's Walk of Fame, followed by the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Please join the Phil Hartman for Canada's Walk of Fame page on Facebook for more info and a link to sign the petition to get Phil his spot. Thanks to all of Phil's fans!
This was the saddest moment in Saturday Night Live history. Only a few years later the world lost these two great comedians. Hartman and Farley will always be missed.
Ya I just watched seasons 1-4 of news radio, John Lovitz is alright, but I couldn't really get into season 5, just not the same, Ya Phil Hartman was just plain great. It just sucks, killed by his wife when she was on a coke alcohol binge, ........sad.
Rest in peace to Christ Farley, the coolest most awesome comedian, and Phil Hartman, the greatest guy, funny, with the most awesome voice. The real skit makes me cry. May they both rest in peace forever.
I remember the day I heard the news on the radio at work. I was bummed out for weeks!! I don't usually get that way when a celebrity dies, but Phil was one of my favorite comic actors. Just seemed like such a decent, regular guy. And the way he went, too... in his sleep at the hands of his selfish, good-for-nothing coke-whore wife who was damned lucky to have been married to him to begin with & never really deserved what she had. At least she had the decency to kill herself, too.
Just wanted to share this with you: I was driving to work when I heard about Phil Hartman... I was devistated and hurt...Why was such a talented guy taken away like that? He was the ONLY reason I watched SNL...If his wife didn't want him, let him go,not be blown away so needlessly! Such a shock, and I am still saddened by his passing... :-(
If only she had shot herself first.....Phil had a small part in The 3 Amigos....watch the begining he's the one on the phone when they get fired, " Get wardrobe up here and Take the Amigos' Clothes!"
I LUVED Phil on the Simpsons! His voice was so distinctive as Lionel Hutz and Troy MacLure on The Simpsons. One of the reasons why the 90s ruled! I still miss Phil so much! Life is so short and people we love are taken away from us too soon!
@WFTC29 I realize this comment was posted 2 years ago but I was angry that they omitted this particular scene from Chris Farley's Best Of dvd. I don't know if it's on the Phil Hartman dvd but it was very disappointing to not see it...they're losses were two horrible tragedies...
It's still a great tribute video, and it's one of my faves.
The NBC jerks would just make the poster delete the actual video if it WAS posted because they have 'rights' to it, that's why you can't see it anywhere on YouTube.
The last great talent of SNL. I remember back in the 70's, on Saturdays, the parties would come to a stop. Everyone would gather in front of the TV to watch SNL. Phil Hartman RIP.
The last goodbye's that Phil sings, are just so touching on so many different levels...Phil holding Farley in his arms...So amazing that we we graced with two such amazing people.
Amen to that. I think of how things would be different and how many cool and hillarious movies and shows could have been done if Phil and Chris were still alive. It certainly would be a better world.
I can't get over how sad Phil's voice sounds when he walked on stage and put his arm around Chris Farley, so heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time, and so tragic...Definitely one of the greatest moments in SNL history, so surreal too.
ITA! When Phil left especially, SNL lost it's heart and soul and charm! He was called "The Glue" for a reason.
Chris Farley was great too, and seeing them on stage like that was funny at the time, but so sad, yet beautiful cuz Phil had tears in his eyes when he sang it.
I believe Phil and Chris would be the biggest movies stars in the world today if they were still alive. They owned the stage when they were on it. I miss them both a lot.
I think so too, and I think even Phil would get an awesome movie role, that would even give him an Oscar nomination.
Chris would have been great in more movies too.
ITA! They both owned the stage everytime they walked on, especially Phil, he just had this amazing presence about him, and he was the perfect "straight man" to everyone else, I loved when he played the crazy guys too LOL.
I miss them both as well, but I just miss Phil more. Everyone looked up to him and respected him alot.
It makes me mad because when his wife killed him they said she was on drugs like that was an good excuse and made everything ok. It did not make it ok. We have to live without seeing more talents from him.
The two people from SNL I miss the most. They were so funny and really had a good heart. A rare quality in comedy. I hope they are making God laugh right now. RIP guys.
especially kristen wiig. in terms of her actual comedic talent she has gotten so many comparisons 2 phil, even from lorne michaels. i really hope she enjoys great success in her career. u know phil is probably smiling down from heaven on the current cast!
I'm not a huge fan of Kristen Wiig, and I've never compared her to anyone, especially Phil, but she could be, it's still too early to tell.
The only woman I've ever compared to Phil Hartman would be Jan Hooks, she was awesome.
Phil was amazing and I hope he is smiling down on the current SNL, because to me, the show kinda died with him when he left in 1994. If he was still alive, he would've hosted like 10 more times for sure, and I'd enjoy every minute of it.
i agree with u on the "too early to tell" part, but the comparison 2 phil can be found in the comedy issue of gq magazine with seth rogen on the cover. but yeah, phil's death was a major blow 2 comedy.
Definitely a major blow, and it still shocks me to this day, I miss him. It's still kinda hard to watch him cuz I get tears in my eyes when I do, he was so cool and looked like a sweet man...someone you would love to have in your life forever.
Life is very unfair when people like his wife take their problems out so viciously. Life is very precious and Phil made us all smile so much and he would have been one of the biggest film stars of our lifetime if he had the chance to do so. Greg Kinear once called Phil "Reneasance Man" I think because of how funny and nice he was to the people around him. I miss Phil Hartman so much and I know he is making God smile along with Chris Farley.
He will always be a LEGEND of SNL and of Comedy, he was perfection, and I loved when Greg Kinnear called him a Renaissance Man because it was so true. The man did EVERYTHING! He was a man of many talents, and it's such a shame that he's been gone all these years, same with Chris Farley, both of them were awesome and genuinely sweet people who loved to make people laugh, they are both forever missed by me and it makes me happy knowing that they're both in Heaven busting a gut with God.
Yeah I love Kristen. She has the similiar dead-pen delivery that Phil Hartman had on SNL. I love her sketch with Jason Sadkiss "Two A-Holes" You know the annoying married couple that calls each other babe all the time. It's soo funny. And the sketch where she would upstage everyone with lies. I'm not sure of her name but that sketch is funny. Phil Hartman would be doing that if he were still on the show. I can't believe this year Phil would be 60 years old. He was just soo funny!!! I miss him.
yeah i love the 2 a-holes sketch she does with jason. and the name of the other kristen sketch u mentioned was penelope. whats also ironic is the fact that both her and phil came from the groundlings which breeds comedy superstars. but yeah it still shocking 2 this day that phil is dead. hopefully he is in a better place.
I kinda like the A-Hole sketch too, and The Target Lady for some reason, and also Penelope. Maybe she'll grow on me over time...Also like her Aunt Irma (or whatever it is) whenever she reviews movies on Weekend Update, that's kinda funny too.
I wonder if she's ever seen Phil's sketches? He was and forever will be brilliant.
Of course he's in a better place...he's in Heaven making God laugh. :)
Phil played the perfert jerk, the best straight man ever and the best pompous ass you'd ever seen (See NewsRadio, LOL). I loved his eyebrow arch too, he was so great at being subtle, and had the most incredible voice. He is and was THE GREATEST! He was probably the best-looking comedian on SNL ever too. Very handsome and cute. Great actor too.
I miss you Phil Hartman,Chris Farley and Scatman.R.I.P. in heaven you will always be rembered for cool things all 3 of you did in your lietime. All taken suddenly and too fast for all of us.Hopefully a time machine will help all of u guys to come back.
Phil did the "smarmy" voice better than anyone else. Does anyone remember the fake luxury car ad he did on SNL, where the ball bearing rolled down the body and sewered down a hole in the fender? Phil made that seem like a real ad - he could get anyone laughing.
man this gave me chills, i just recently found out about phil hartman's talent and i was watching something on tv and i found out he was dead and it made me really sad, now i almost want to cry everytime i see something with him in it.
no i didnt know who he was, i was really young when the he was on SNL so i wasnt exactly sure who he was till now and now im sad to find out he is dead.
Not everyone ends up dead before age 40 there slick. And who gives a crap about some punk ass rap stars who sang about killing people to make their money. That got what was coming to them.
if anybody has seen the real video of chris farley and phil hartman singing that song, its actually creepy as hell, cuz they both ended up dead....its just kinda weird if u see it.

Phil did the "smarmy" voice better than anyone else. Does anyone remember the fake luxury car ad he did on SNL, where the ball bearing rolled down the body and sewered down a hole in the fender? Phil made that seem like a real ad - he could get anyone laughing.

a genuine shame. he was from the best cast of SNL...
you can say what you want about the first cast, or the late 90s cast...
the show was never more professional, and CONSISTENTLY funny than the late 80s cast. phil, jan hooks, dana, mike myers..
i stopped watching during the 'frat boy' farley, adam sandler era.
wasnt good again till Garth Brooks episode in 98...

Phil Hartman was one of the greatest comedians of our time.

Phil had actually agreed to do Zap Branigan's voice on Futurama just before his death. That would have kicked ass...

Phil Hartman was one of the best voices of the Simpsons. Who couldnt love Troy McClure or Lionel Hutz? RIP

Not everyone ends up dead before age 40 there slick. And who gives a crap about some punk ass rap stars who sang about killing people to make their money. That got what was coming to them.

I didn't realize what a genius Phil Hartman was until he was gone. New Radio wasn't half the show after he was gone. And News Radio was hilarious.
