hmm...well I'm a clarinetist first and foremost. clarinet is still very fun for me...but when i play the flute, its kind of a break away from the clarinet.
you are awsome deffanetly for a clarinet player i play flute ive been playing for 3 years and im 5th chair out of 12. you know famous flute players are normally guys.
yeah i know. Mozart was commissioned to write another flute concerto by an aristocrat, but he didn't feel like writing another one (and some say he didn't like the flute at all, based off letters he wrote to his father)...so he just slightly altered it, which the client did not like and therefore didn't pay Mozart for this last concerto! hah
not holding it backwards actually. someone asked about this before. It's a mirror image, because mac photobooth records videos in a mirror image. If u notice, the UMD on my stand is showed ALSO in a mirror, backwards image.
hey i am a clarinet player too can you teach me some stuff like send me a video about clarinet like idremedete stuff cause i am the best out of my class
this is like the billionth time i've said this...lol. The video is recorded in a mirror image, thats how Mac Photobooth records.Like, if you look at whats written on the stand, UMD is written in a mirror backwards way.
haha no problem. indeed, the mac photobooth is just really weird like that! apparently there's no way to change it, and you can only change it for PHOTOS taken with photobooth. O well. lol.
WOW!how long had you been learning the flute before the making of this video?I almost have the first movement you played down pat. your *crazy* good for a clarinet player!!!!!!!!!!!
hmm...not very long actually. I had started learning it a yr before, but then my best friend took her old flute back. lol. So I went about 8 months without playing flute at all, after playing it for a few. Then I got a flute for my birthday in June, and just practiced and read up more on embouchure and stuff. :)
WOW!!!! Thats all i have to say! U dont seem like a beginner! But you sound so great! And where did u get this piece? I would like to try and play it one of these days. I can see that you have a lot of passion for music! Im exactly the same! I just think that it's wonderful! well keep up the GREAT work and try to get back to me asap! thanks :D
hi you play the flute with the right hand on top is this a left handed flute or not if it is where did you get it and how much was. do you play the clarinet with the right hand on top
hey. i don't actually play with the right hand on top. the camera on my macbook records in a mirror image so it looks backward. if u notice my music stand the letters are mirror image reversed. so yeah, its just a trick of the camera.
Mozart wrote the Oboe Concerto and when he was commissioned to write a second flute concerto, he just altered his oboe concerto, not wanting to actually spend the time to write a second flute concerto. lol. thanks for the compliment!
haha. i know the mirror images is so annoying! but alas. lol. ALSO Mac Photobooth records almost...broken up or something. so when my fingers move fast in other videos it looks really REALLY weird. lol.
and wow, thank u so much for that compliment! ur too nice!
good question! i know quite a few flutists that have ventured out into different instruments. from what i understand, for flutes, its rather difficult to develop a good sound on reed instruments. the technical skills transfer relatively easy to clarinet, , with slight adjustments. but soundwise, its probably going to be a BIT difficult to get used to, but its nothing u can't overcome! its also hard for reed instruments to learn flute, so that sound problem goes both ways! hard work will pay off!
u know thats probably one of the hardest parts i've found about being a clarinetist playing flute. its so different! its an open mouthpiece, and being us we aren't used to using vibrato the way flutes do, so the obstruction of the air flow poses a new feat. And not to mention just having to learn how to get a sound out of the darn thing! neways, i'm still working with breath control actually. lol. neverending! but it took prob a month to get as comfortable with it as I am now.
Where is your old HS located? And what college did you decide to go to? You have a very nice sound and are very talented. Please post more! Especially Mozart and/or Beethoven.
my old high school is Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. It was a great music department. Now I'm a clarinet performance scholarship student at the University of Maryland School of Music. Thank you so much for your compliments! I'm just starting out and just trying to get good at flute so I can get gigs doubling for clarinet and flute. Soon I'll have to learn sax...eeeek. lol. Thanks, and I'll try and post some more vids soon. I love playing the flute now! :)
where do u get this sheet music from i am a beginer kind of this is my second year playing the flute but i really think i might be able to try this song so by anychance is there a way u can tell me where to get the sheet music or tell me the notes in some sort of message
hey. i tried replying earlier but i guess it didn't work. I dunno wut part of the country ur from, but if there is a Music and Arts Center near u, u can try there. Also, if you live near a university with a school of music or a music conservatory, then u can go to their performing arts/music library and photocopy the music there. another good place to try is a website like sheetmusicplus. they would have a nice music collection. hope thats helpful :)
well i started playing the flute fall of '06. and played it for about 5 months, before I started college and didn't have any time to play it. So I played it for about 5 months, then not at all for 1 yr, then got one for my bday on June 9th, and have been relearning. THe clarinet and flute have very similar fingerings, except for a few. As for sound that was harder, but i thnk i'm developing well enuf :)
thank u so much for checking it out! :) I posted another if u wanna see that too. I think i may wanna learn oboe soon as well....eeeeeek, that'll be rather difficult. :/
i play flute and wow nvr played anything like that!

Very nice.
I can tell your a clarinet player bc you play F# with the 3rd finger just like the clarinet instead of your 4th.
But amazing!
