LYRICS: Here we stand, holding fast to one another. With the pain and the mem’ries rushing through. Down below us lie the bodies of our brothers. Seeking rest so their new lives may begin. Will there never be a chance for them to win? Chorus: Their lights will shine. Twenty-six all of a kind. Their lights will shine. Facing those who would be blind. Their lights will shine. For the loved ones left behind. From the darkness of the mine. Their lights will shine. (to be continued)
i wasnt alive when this happened, but my bus driver lost a dear friend in this explosion, so in a way, it hits close to home, especially knowing that it happened mere minutes from where i live now, so thank you
@chrissept21 Yes they have. At least 5-10. They are kind of a Canadian institution. One of the singers, Nipper Macleod, has one of the most amazing voices in Canada in my opinion. He does great rendtions of "Working Man", "Immigrant Eyes" and "Sweet Guinevere"
This is a beautiful song. I've been looking for it for a good while, and now I found it. I had tears rolling down my face as I listened to it. I grew up in New Glasgow in a house that ran on top of the mine shaft where those men died. It will always be something that Pictou County and the most of the world will never forget.
I don't think this is the first of this performance. Either CMT cut it or you started the recording late. Coal Tattoo is one of their opening songs (as I just saw in Bravo). I wonder if anybody has it. It's one of the best versions I've heard.
You rock. I missed most of the show, due to it being on just around dusk in Manitoba. Of course we went to the fire works in stead of watching this awesome show. Thanks for posting.
these guys made us dont forget it

Time and space cannot part this bond among us
Trees and stone mark the sacred place to be.
Give us strength to resist life’s bitter hadness
Give us hope that the world may one day see.
Will we never find the truth that sets them free?
Bring us some meaning to the things that haunt our mind
Bring us the solitude that seems so hard to find.

.... concrete on your lungs, you're old before your time....
I love this song, so touching, sweet, those voices sound like one, so beautiful, so heartfelt!
Thank you, Jesus, for giving the world a taste of Your beauty.
Keep those men safe in the mines.

When he sang "They're Lights will Shine", why did he say 26?
15Multi 5 months ago
@15Multi I presume it refers to the 26 who died in the Westray Mine in 1992.
TorreyGilday 5 months ago
@15Multi He said 26 because that's how many people died, or because that's the number of people in the choir.
aderkid 1 month ago
@15Multi Cause that's how many died.
