if i'm testing on a galaxy tab, is it necessary to do this or can i just connect the tab as a mass storage device and transfer the apk that way? thanks!
Both of these videos may be a bit old an I don't know if you even check on them anymore but I gave it a big THUMBS UP! You couldn't have done a better job at explaining things step by step and for anyone new to Linux and Android this is a must watch. I pointed some friends this way and I'd love to see anything else you may have on building roms etc. I know this comment is long but had to get it all out there.
i'm fairly new to Linux so I was trying to edit bashrc and all kinds of other stuff. it did not dawn on me to copy adb!!!!! wow. I feel like a moron. Nonetheless, thank you for a great vid. it is now working! you're awesome -subscribed!
This is great! thank you sooooo much... I have been using google for about 2 weeks now trying to figure out how to download/install adb/sdk to use on my rooted htc aria running cm7. thumbed up and favorited...
@OhHeyItsLou Yeah. I can manipulate my phone thru the SDK using Windows but when I put in the ./adb devices command I can't see my phone's serial. Going over your video again though, when putting in the HTC device code in gedit I didn't go back to make sure it was in gedit again.
Is Ubuntu 11.04 different? I also notice when changing directories, I have to input #cd sdk "enter" #cd tools "enter" because #cd sdk/tools throws up a directory not found error.
@OhHeyItsLou Never mind again, I guess it did work. I can view all my files using the shell command, I was thrown off because I didn't get a device name when using the devices command. Great vid and thank you
Is there a special kernel for these devices? I have a friend who's phone will not boot. I suppose i will be using this sdk application to make it work again.
the dislike bar is like a ninja..... you cant see it!

Thanks a bunch for the tutorial.
In 20 minutes I got it working. (After 2 days of trying... Came close tho. :D)
Who don't have an HTC phone (like me) try "lsusb" command (while phone is plugged in and in developer mode) to get the vendor ID.

@OhHeyItsLou Never mind about the cd issue. I didn't type in sudo su first to be in root.
