  • Dan was my Uncle. Wish he was here. RIP, Evan

  • ...and I've heard of dumping air....but dumping pilot...?!? (grin)

  • Rest in Peace Dan Murphy, miss u bro,,,

  • First time I have ever even seen flying at Funston and it's this.... LOL You guys would make great E Teamers. Only thing missing was a beer.

  • like throughing the garbage out! heheh. joking:D I admire your time and fun!

  • the stratos V was the fastest glider to set up my friend David Bradack used to have one

  • Two crazy man, but I liked, hehehee

    ((( wanzam ))) Brasil

  • Nice - next on a Laminar?

  • Nice!!!!

  • damn that would be scary

  • how many square feet is that thing?

  • meravigioso .........;)

  • Some people just dream about it. Others do it. I used to dream about pushing a man in a hang glider off a cliff. Someday...someday...maybe.....

  • What a perfect control. You're my favourite

  • That's a bad friend; trying to push you off a cliff in a wheelbarrow!

  • his name was dan murphy,

he was a great guy and an awesome pilot, miss you murf dog,,R,I,P,

  • There's nothing new on it, In the reality there are a lot of wind near the hill, coming in ascendent which maintains the pilot stopped with the hang gliding

  • whoever came up with that idea needs help!

    awesome stunt, flying, video.

  • is it possible to hang glide without wind at all?

  • yes. wind is needed to stay up a long time when ridge or costal soaring. thermal flights don't have to have wind. just think of throwing a paper airplane. no wind is involved there

  • I believe they call it "lift." Heat rising.

  • I believe it's called "wind." Air blowing.

  • @stmc247

yea, but you need an anti-gravity device. :)

  • @applesweeter

Because it is one of the few things some other creatures can do and we can't. Thus we feel left out. We feel being able to fly is one step towards eliminating that list and therefore being superior to all creation

  • that guys mut be uber skiled be tthat is uber hard

  • lmao

    nice landin

  • ah thanks Dan, the birdlike one!

    Guru of Fun flying

    and building aircraft,

  • enaknyet

  • Awesome! You know who your friends are if they are willing to push you around in a wheel barrow :)

  • Ha! That has to be a first! Not only a wheelbarrow landing, but a wheelbarrow launch!

  • @Abstractstv within record time too

  • awesome video man you got good skills thanks for posting

  • Carrier Landing!

  • He, he...that was neat! Thanks for sharing. Looks like Fort Funston, in San Francisco...they get a killer sea breeze there, generating a great updraft along the coastal cliffs.

  • haha cool :)

  • yea! i want one!

  • talk about seriously bad ass skillz...

  • LOL. Awesome!

  • really funny !

    hahaha

  • class! lol

is that some kind of record?

you should try landing in a plant pot next

  • whats up with the wheelbarrow lol i wonder if it hurts to land=S

  • Beautiful job flyboys

  • Hahahahahahaha.....That's Great

  • Dan Murphy doing what what he loved ! RIP ... and tell Dan we said Hello.

  • just goes to show that it was and is the pilot more than the glider! Stratus-5?! I love those old bow-sprits(deflexors and all!) I have seen a few of these old films where phenomenol pilots were showing what was possible even with the 'outdated design' gliders. Hmmmmm, I would fly an S-5 today and for the rest of my life if I had these pilots skills. Impressive. I don't even get outa BED that smooth!!!

  • I thought I made a commetn on this video, maybe it was only on the OZ report, but this guy was an Icon, an inspiration. I Saw him several time, and only had a few words with him, and can't beleive that was it. If I had known i had so little time to learn from him, I would have tried harder. A random crazy hobo: he deserved better than that. At least we can say it wasnt a mistake in his flying that did him in

  • Awsome control! I'm still using massive hay fields to land....

  • That last link is to Dan touching his tip on launch...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wNd6P6KcBJQ (again)

  • condolences from the West Australian HG scene! i'd heard about the shooting, crazy stuff. sorry to hear this guys. fly on Dan. good luck Kurt.

  • Dan's response to Rob was very Murphy. Man, we will all miss him. Does anyone have any footage of Dan dragging his tip on launch over and over again? Loosing Dan this way was not right. I hope we can all gather at Funston and send those bad vibes away and yell into the wind and in our minds give Dan one final launch off Funston. He will fly into the sunset. I will be out at Funston with you all this Saturday to remember Dan and wish Kurt a speedy return to the skies and his friends

  • I don't know of any video, but there's a great photo of him exploding chips with his wingtip via the Fort Funston web site. I'm having trouble posting links here, so just go to flyfunston dot org , follow the link to the Dan/Kurt page, and look for the photos from Lijian.

  • Dan is not doing good over at SF General Hospital after being shot by a freak gunman who then shot himself monday evening 8/21/06.

    Diev

  • Is that a Hang 6 spot?, Nice landing and launch....I just got your tumble/spin from way back on the vhs "whack" tape ;-).....diev

  • That would be the world famous "sir Dan Murphy" I've never met you but I do know your an Icon in the HG world...... Especially at funston..

    Rob

  • Fun and frolicking at the fort!!!

    Great landing/control....

    Pilot?
