  • @fjccommish brothers

  • @fjccommish probly i would think

  • Love the song but one line is stupid:

"sittin on a stump, hammer pulled back on a 12 gauge pump?"

  • @arrowslinger60087 Some pump action shotguns from the older days had hammers. Check out the Winchester model 1897.

  • @arrowslinger60087 Look up the Winchester model 1897 pump shotgun. It was made till the mid 1950s and had an EXTERNAL hammer and was the first commercially successful pump shotgun. So much for stupid.

  • @arrowslinger60087 old winchester 12ga pumps had a hammer for safety carrying it with one in the chamber they quit making them because if you pumped to fast they would go off without squeezing the trigger hope it helped

  • jerry reed was as cool as the underside of a pillow !!!!!!

  • Ought to be a "Love" option. I don't just "Like" it I LOVE it!

  • fantastic talent!

  • @Fireheart528 I wasn't confused by who you meant, but it looks like I was from my response. I can see why you thought I misunderstood. Anyway, I get it and it's all good. You're right about the humidity, it's miserable. Both in hot and cold weather. It's not like that all the time. In fact, we had a freeze and a short power outage this morning, but no snow. Snow is rare here, but does happen. Twice last winter. But I get it. I like the mountains too. I just have bayou water in my blood I guess.

  • @Stingray8854 we all have something like that in most of us, i guess.

  • @DLOColumbia107 You have a problem with Louisiana?

  • @Stingray8854 No... not at all Stingray, I I most likely didn't express myself well enough... Hell, I live in the northern part of Louisiana, and I guess that just miss Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana... Many thank you's headed your way to check me on my words... Maybe I just miss home... God Bless You!!!

  • One of the Best Guitar Players ever!

  • @ridgerunner721601 I was going to PM it to you, but I'm on my cell phone posting this now and not at my pc. Go to Louisiana Sportsman (dot) com and search the site for a thread called "Got the heebie jeebies". I have the story posted there. It's a bit long, but a cool story. Good comments too. I was SPOOKED big time out there.

  • Thank you for posting this. It reminds me of Southeast Texas...

  • "Just don't make me hurt'ya boy'

  • In the movie Gator he lives in the Okefenokee swamp but when I'm on that stretch of I-10 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge in the Atchafalaya swamp it reminds me of this song too.

  • @ridgerunner721601 Sure enough, the song definitely has the "feel" of the Atchafalaya Basin to it. I spotted a cougar WAYYY out there in the swamp one evening at sunset while I was hunting out there one evening. I left a few minutes early. It was a LONG walk through the swamp back to my boat. Made the hair stand up on the back of my neck the whole way! I'll PM you the story if you like. Let me know.

  • @Stingray8854 Yeah, I'd like to hear it Sting. I live in the southwest part of Louisiana, just north of Lake Charles. But we've got our fill of snakes, gators and mosquitoes here too....LOL. In fact, the high school I graduated from was LaGrange. Our football team was called the Gators. And on the stadium it says "Welcome to the swamp". Ha ha.

  • You can almost see the cottonmouth snakes coiled up under the palmettos, feel the big ol' skeeters biting you on the back of your neck, hear the barred owls hootin' and squawkin' among themselves high up in the cypress trees against the backdrop of a big full moon rising over the swamp, and see those glowing red gator's eyes shining in your light on the water, growing wider apart as he swims closer to you. Good stuff!

  • @Stingray8854 i'd have been spooked big time in that bug-breedin' swamp! i'm for the mountains, man. i don't care to live in any bayou. the mountains can beat any bayou scenery big time. i'm for hearing the thunder that rolls from a herd o' wild horses, the elk and the wolves and the best air quality anywhere.

  • @Fireheart528 Ok, you said the mountains can beat any bayou scenery anytime. Have you been on a bayou before? Just to be clear, I was referring to a swamp, not a bayou. Two different things. I'm sorry if I seem a bit offended, but it seems like you're putting down where I live. You said I don't care to "live" in any bayou. I don't live in a swamp or a bayou, but a small city of about 35,000 people. That being said, the swamps are absolutely beautiful. Just as the mountains are.

  • @Stingray8854 i wasn't talking about you when i said that; what it meant was that I(not you) don't care to live near or in a bayou. most of my family is from up north, and i can't stand the humidity of a summer here in Georgia. i don't deny that the swamps are beautiful, but i've always been more partial to living in the mountains than down near the swamps. guess its because i like a dry cold instead of a damp cold. i don't like humidity at all, especially when you've a heat index over 100!

  • @Fireheart528 It's more than just a "bug-breedin' swamp" It's been called strikingly gorgeous. Yes, in my story I said I was spooked, but that's because I had a wild predator between me and my boat at nightfall. Just because the the swamp was spooky and sinister that night, doesn't mean it isn't beautiful. But don't take my word for it. Google "Landscapes of the Atchafalaya Basin" and you'll see. Also there's lots of videos here that show the beauty of our swamps.

  • @Stingray8854 Well, you convinced me about the swamp's beauty, thats for sure. Doesn't take many photos to see that, and the Discovery Channel series 'Swamp People' is even more evidence of that. The only thing is, what kind of jobs are available when you live near a swamp besides gator hunting or AC repairs?

  • @Fireheart528 Ha! AC repairs! Yeah, they make pretty good money in the summer around here. About gator hunting, Not just anybody can do it. There's requirements and I'm told they don't come cheap or easy. I don't know all the particulars, but you have to own or lease the land, which has to be classified as wetland. The state issues a number of tags according to land size and gator population for a month long season. As far as other jobs, probably about like other places. Jobs are available here.
