Why do they not present "This Is Your Life" on network television anymore? or do they? Alot of deserving, talented, commited individuals who deserve an honor doesnt. Every thing with networks now is about bottom line. Its ashame really... It really is part of the reason the industry is full of temporary flicker out stars now. The classics have long gone. Atleast i remember some of them. These young ones dont.
@wattever333 If she wasn't joking, why did she say "Georgette"? Answer: that was Georgia's character on "The MTM Show." I @ replied to you because my comment was directly rated to yours.
I never said anything about you thinking Betty was not worthy. That's why I started my next sentence with "As far as the rest of this." Only the first sentence was related to your comment. I know what "@" means. You need to lighten up.
@wattever333 Cloris was joking; she was playing the "Phyllis" character. As far as the rest of this, it's hard to think of someone more deserving of a tribute like this. Betty's always been a class act! Lots of other great stars in this clip, too!
She has been a favorite of mine since she first appeared in "Life With Elizabeth". She is an amazing individual and well deserving of the many accolades bestowed upon her.
K, so, Cloris Leachman is a wonderful actress of stage (South Pacific, Shakespeare), screen, and television, but what a shitty thing to say to lovely Georgia Engel. WTH?
Someone asked Betty White why at her age she still keeps acting- she replied, "Because I love it." The insolence of some of these younger, blissfully ignorant "news" shows.
I truly love Betty White. Most people of my generation would say they loved her because she's an "old lady" who says dirty words, but I know how witty, and kind, and generous, and clever, and thoroughly beautiful this woman is. It doesn't get any better than her.
Thank you so much for posting this - I didn't realize how many tissues I would have needed. She's quite a special lady and we are so blessed to have a person like her among us.
Are you kidding? She didn't keep her composure; she had tears streaming down her face.
Indy7888, I saw this show back in 1987 when it first aired, but I haven't seen it since until now. They did several "This is Your Life" specials that season (the series had ended years earlier). Thank you so much for posting this. What a beautiful tribute!
I love Betty its crazy to think I was only 3 yrs old when this aired but that just goes to show this lady stands the test of time. She is one of a kind.
when betty white crys, everyone crys. because everyone loves betty.

@ 5:55, Betty's hair and dress make her look almost in character for her role as Ellen on Mama's Family

Please don't put @wattever333 before your comment if it's not addressed to me. Learn what @ means.
