do you have a shotgun mic or is the camera really good? My camera usually has the noise of the camera running in my videos (You've prbably noticed) but I think you're really persuading me to get the HV20

well its the way you compress it and how well your lighting.

here is what i do for my videos in imovie...

Compression - .h264

Quality set on High

Bitrate set to 3000

Dimension - NTSC 720 x 486

Make sure to check the box that says "Deinterlace Source Video"

Put the sound settings to your preference.

Then compress through imovie.

But maybe one reason why my video looks good is that i have an HD Camera (Canon HV20)

you have to compress from imovie to get the movie on to youtube. sending a imovie file not compress is like sending huge amounts of gb on to youtube. and imovie format is not supported
