She's so beautiful and cute! Great video! I saw red iggies at petco yesterday. I thought they only had green ones....wish I could get one, but I don't have the money for a big enough cage and all the supplies. Someday!! :)
well i can tell u this beardies are aLOT easier to take care of and handle than an iguana....i like iguanas more than beardies myself and did alot of research before buying blaze... but im happy with her...it takes time but she is tame and never bites or whips nemore..ne questions feel free to message me.. and subscribe if u haavent already
@PanamaRed85 How do uo tame them? I'd say mine is good but kinda freaks out being outside, has never whipped me but only bit my brothers finger in accident lol he was feeding him. Other than that never been agressive to us. Hes about a 1yr old but its just tha thing that he freaks out being outside. Any tips?
@212trooper get a iguana couse they are a little easy but not i have one right now about 6 mounths they are cool my teacher has three berdies and she said she rather have a iguana becouse berdies have riped her wire cage a part and they have brooken the glass she bougyht she got a iguana now and she said they are better and gave red off her berdies she had a better life now
@212trooper i had a beardie for 11 years. i lovd him btu im now looking to get a red or rhino iguana. if your new to lizards get a beardie. put the time in to get experience, and im sure itll be a more rewarding experience when you get an iguana. i probably wont be able to get one until im out of college:(
WHAAAT? how did you get him to love you? my selfish red ig has been a runner since the first day i've had him from any person and i can't seem to figure out how to calm him down.. i love him and its so sad.. any advice? ive kept herps my whole life, never had an upset anything before
how long haveu had him? it took a couple months before she got that calm with me and trusted me, but even to this day she still hesitates sometimes. all i can say is wat i did., they say to let the ig get comfortable in there new habitat for a while like a week or so before trying to handle them. so i waited a week. then i started just putting my hand in the cage as close to her as she would let me without her running.
then i tried picking her up but leaving my hands in the cage, if she tried to get out of my hands i would put my other hand in front and let her go from hand to hand. then wen she was comfortable in my hands in the cage then i took her out and let her explore my room and chill on my shoulder. but all these techniques r supposed to get her to trust u and kno that ur not trying to hurt her. any other questions just message me. and let me kno how it goes
The answer is in your question. Love them, hold them close and let them know that they can come to you rather than running away. I have a wild captured iguana. It took a while, but he's like a son to me now.
@emceefisherprice My red is a runner too, but at least he isn't violent like my green can be. Neither of them are horrible the green just whips occasionally and has been much better lately.
yea wen i first got her she was crazy runnin around and whipping but after a few months she was fine. now never whips and never tries to bite or nething people can hold her she doesnt kno and pet her and i dont have to worry she just closes her eyes and chills out..
@PanamaRed85 That's awesome. I'll just keep on grinding. They'll get more used to me in time. I need to get them a bigger tank but have no money atm as I've been out of work for some time with a knee injury that resulted in surgery which basically meant the doctor sawing my tibial tendon off rolling it over and screwing it into it's new place. But once I start working again my first paycheck is going towards a bigger terrarium
yea man that sux bout ur knee. good luck with everything. i will be posting new vds soon, i lost battery for camera. i might get new one tomorrow. we will see.
man i really need help.. im getting an iguana this october and i dont wanna buy a small cage then have to buy another cage a year later, so would it be a good idea to "go big or go home" lol ?
i definatly agree. i bought a 75 gallon tall tank and it only lasted like a yr. so wen i was building my next cage fo her i built one that she could live in forever pretty much. mine is about 6ft long 5ft high and 3 1\2 wide.check out my other vids u will see it. im sure wen i get a house i will build a huge one. but this will last for a while
+is that supposed to be an green iguana because. its color realy isnt good. u need to mix up diet. celery, graped, lettuce, and other nutrient foods. mix it up. u can find other food items online. fed nicely though good muscle tone. unless its a red iguana. then u r fine. and i sound dumb but just thought id say. ight bye.
+is that supposed to be an green iguana because. its color realy isnt good. u need to mix up diet. celery, graped, lettuce, and other nutrient foods. mix it up. u can find other food items online. fed nicely though good muscle tone.
damn mine is about 6 months now still not really used to be hand held , is it possible for him/her to learn it still or is it to late to let em get used :/ ??
your doing great with her shes really getting attached to you! and so calm thats what i love to see when people take the time to spend with them and let them explore yet hang out and watch them, they know when your good to them 5stars
ok first make sure u have the right lighting aand that the tank is hot enough at least 85-98 degrees, also if u can bring her to the vet asap, to make sure shes not sik..but make sure u have uva and uvb bulbs. also talk to mrbinty on here..he knos his shyt..good luck ....let me kno how it goes

it takes some time, but i kno a couple of people that were able to voice train there igs, just keep using the same tone when trying to give him\her a command...if ur trying to get her\him to come to u and they keep walking away or not comin..just keep saying come here and then pik him\her up and bring her to u. eventually she'll get it.
wow, he is way calmer than mine, but he looks to be a similiar age, they didnt know exactly how old he was at the pet store, but from lots of research and you tube videos im guess hes around 5-8 months, but he looks a lot like yours, how old is he?
how long did it take for him to start to like you? i handle mine every day for at least 30-40 mins but usually longer, sometimes he hangs out in my room all day laying in the sunlight and eating, but its taking him a little while to warm up to me picking him up and stuff like that. oh also, did yours get more vibrant as it got older, mine is also red, but its not super red, pretty similar to blazes color, ive seen some adults that are really bright red though.
it took a while for her to just chill. she was crazy wen i first got her, she whipped so much she broke the tip of her tail off, which sux. she still is iffy about my hands, wen i go to take her out of cage she wont come right to me, she wont run away anymore but still tries to get away wen im tryin to take her out of cage. but once shes out shes fine just hangs out on my shoulder or the top of my couch while im watchin tv.
