If I remember correctly this song is not shown as a full as in here in the movie.

I am hearing this bit between 1:28 and 1:50 (12 sec in the original version) ever since this movie relaesed till this day and I never heard of any bass chords in any indian music.

I donot understand Tamil. But I have seen this movie many times in Telugu. Every time I watch this I keep reminding myself that this is just a movie, but still I find my eyes filled with tears when I watch some of these scenes.
