But one thing, in the 'Musical Moments' it should be very emotional (especially it's Rachmaninoff's too). You need to know from where you go, and to where! It's the most important thing at Rachmaninoff's pieces!
I won't criticize you as others, just like to tell you I'm following you since your very first videos and became your fun. Technique and relax look evident in constant progress, now the turn is to expose your own feelings. You can. Best wishes!
Excellent my man! Great interpretation. I need to work out my mistakes in this piece and I'll try to post it for you. Thanks for this, great performance!
its funny.. the people u wouldn't normally think can play the piano.. play it like its their job.. propss yo im learnin this song now.. really challenging
What kind of comment is that? He just commented on the playing. Now personally I think that the pianist could have used a bit more rubato and it would have sounded nicer.
Very nice interpretation of the piece! In fact, I liked it so much that I started playing it myself! I'm now playing it many times a day, trying to be able to play it at least as closely to perfection as you do! You are a great inspiration for aspiring pianists like me! Keep up the brilliant work, bravo!
Cambry, quick question I've been pondering! First of all let me say again that I love this interpretation! But, how come yours is the only one on youtube that is 6:30 long? All the others that I've seen are about 4:30-5:00! Are the others not playing the entire piece or something???? thanks
Oh nice, I wish I had a studio like to make my recordings. Oh well I'll stick my Nikon digital camera for the time being... I like your interpretation btw.
amazing...absolutely beautiful. amazing tone, very nice interpretation. i do think you could do more variation with the left hand octave stacatto part (i.e. dynamics, maybe a crescendo).
everything else was beautiful. very, very nice. thank you, thank you, thank you.
amazing...absoulutely beautiful. very nice interpretation, although i do think you could do something different when the left hand plays those octave stacattos (i.e. dynamics, maybe a crescendo)
It is mesmerizing how you reflect Rachmaninov in a tone of voice, which inimitably envisions the infinite profundity of this work. Your multilayered interpretation is extremely strong in analysing and translating this work into a unique structural complexity, while mediating it in an unknown language of wisdom. I seriously think that your interpretational abilities shown here are simply exceptional, and I am more than positive that not only Rachmaninov sheds a tear.
One of the most beautiful pieces by Rachmaninov..........I like your interpretation, you play very well this. Have you played all six of these Moment Musical? It would be great to do that.........
omgod, so muchhhh better than the first one! its unbelievable how much different the two sounds. This is totally in style and the pulse is absolutely mesmerising.
gorgeous. I was listening to the other one and was like, "oooooh sweet" and then this. even better.

Nice Job. But you don't seem to have a good Rachmaninoff interpretation. You don't keep the melodic feel going within the breaks. You can stretch and release the phrases fine, but your musicianship lacks. A great pianist told me once "Everyone can play loud and fast, but it takes a true master to feel the piece of music and play with musicianship that makes the audience cry with a slower piece of music."
He says thanks, but deep down inside he says shut the fuck up, cause really pianists have teachers and real beings to critique and perfect their music, while the point of this is to entertain, not recieve amateur criticism no one wants or needs, unless of course it's specifically requested
@jmswingle I think that its great interpretation. I think the dynamics and the tempo in a few spots could use a bit more work but other than that it seems perfect.
That is the hard thing about the Moment Musicals, especially this one. With the breaks and everything it is difficult to keep the line going and the musicianship fluid. There wasn't enough rise and fall of the phrase and Rachmaninoff was a genius when it came to shaping his phrases. And your tempo is not steady either. With the staccato bass you pick up tempo like crazy.

And yes, Rachmaninoff might have picked up tempo from the change of accomp., but not as much as you did. From this recording there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to get it like Rachmaninoff originally wanted.
And yes, Rachmaninoff played his pieces different almost everytime like he was just ad libing on his performances but he didn't stray too much. Go back and try work the section where the left hand is in octaves and staccato. The bass is TOO much. Rachmaninoff was a master of melodic lines and accomp. You don't want the bass to overpower the line of the theme that he presented in the beginning of the piece. Good playing, but you need to work on your musicianship
Very nicely done! :)

True, the guy just seems like a robot playing. HAHA! And yes, if he could use a big more rubato, he probably would've done much better.

Come back and comment when you stop stealing other peoples videos lol, "big more rubato", why can't people speak English?

Very interesting interpretation of this Moment Musical.
How you play the left hand staccato octaves seems unusual, it gives another dimension to these parts of the piece. Again, very interesting.
A true poet in your interpretation.
