As you've admitted, you've never been on a raid, so you haven't been to the pre-mission briefings, you haven't dismounted from an 1151 and been the first one in the door. I HAVE. And we don't just go, "Oh, we know there's no insurgents here, so we're going to kick their door in anyway!" We only hit a house hard when we have actionable intelbut actionable does not mean perfect. Mistakes get made, but you always have to err on the side of caution.

Thank you for that. It's like I said-we only hit a house hard when we've got intel or if we've confirmed taken fire from the house in question, and even then, we have VERY strict rules of engagement. No firing unless you confirm a weapon and only use the necessary amount of force to neutralize the threat and not an iota more.

Of course, you have your bad apples that disregard this, but they're quickly found out and prosecuted to the full extent of the law, as they should be.

I worked as a civilian contractor in Iraq for two years. I had never really known guys in the military before. I lost a hell of a lot of respect for them after what I saw. Mostly a lot of raged out frat boy types who called all Iraqis "fags" and "hajiis". Very sad and very disgraceful.
