Dude,you remember how much you paid (roughly) for the four dish course?I'm under the impression I ate at the cheapest fugu place ever...which according to rumors is not a good thing.

I ate a small appetizer dish of fugu in Osaka -- about 8 pieces sashimi with tail and a small table grill to cook it on. Cost less than $15 US. Another time I got about 30 pieces sashimi in a market in Shinjuku and it was less than $20 US. Not a whole fugu meal either time but very affordable just to try a dish.

How much a dish like that go for? in american dollars.

The fugu dishes; usually a 4 course consisting of sashimi, fugu sake, fugu stew, fugu fried can run anywhere from $120 to $200 per person per meal. So usually $150 would be a normal average price for most places.

I think that's about right. I saved for it as it was one of the big things I wanted to do in Tokyo.
