I can't wait to move to OK, tornadoes happen there more often than Aaron Rodgers throws a TD pass, which is every game multiple times. I love tornadoes so much, watching videos of tornado warnings and anything else with tornadoes just depresses me because I wish it was happening right at that current time. Damn, people in OK are lucky.
@luigitheracoon12 I would never get my ass hit by a flying car. I keep a little bit of a distance and drive. If I'm going 70 mph, it really doesn't matter, chances of something hitting me is a slim as a Slim Jim itself. C'mon now, the more the merrier!
@luigitheracoon12 tornados and severe weather are the main reason we are moving there! georgia has them too, only they come mostly at night dont they? how is the weather there?
there was someone i used to live with a long time ago and he was afraid of the EAS weather warnings and one showed up late at night(tornado warning) so i turned it up REALLY LOUD and he pissed himself XD :P lol
This is what my You-tube video-- STOPPING A TORNADO+ AIRBORNE M.A.S.E.R + COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMIC + WEATHER PATTERNS -- is based on. What if you knew the weather pattern ahead of time based on a math model. The M.A.S.E.R , not laser would alter pockets of air to disrupt the tornado pattern. This in turn would prevent the tornado from touching the ground in certain area's.
ya i just had a tornado warning on mah weather radio
Quote: Weather conditions at 2PM Lake winnipeg south basin buoy temp...........ERR ERR ERR........Environment canada has issued a severe weather bulliten for regions in the broadcast area.....Stay tuned for further information
@commandox2000 hhahahahahhaha thats wat happened to my brother cuz he was in the bathrooom and i was outside the restroom holding the raidio and when the warning was done my brother was like HOLY @!!!#$% and then he said nah let me finish first...
I had about 20 of these warnings over 2 days in the past several days. I left and went to a shelter and it saved my ass. The whole area is now destroyed -- 300 dead.
@mjallen1308 yeah what really creeps me out is when my boyfriend is at work, and im alone in the house with no lights on and the tv muted because i am taking a nap, and then this thing goes off in total silence, the voice echoes in your head for an hour, and then after that even the noise the refrigerator makes sounds like the 1050 hz tone! LOL
@mjallen1308 wow really ? that's what my sis does instead of covering her ears she barks like a dog and yells at it to shut up it's pretty stupid of her to do that and one time she was wiht her younger cousin and sisters they were alone and there was a thunderstorm comming so my cuz and her wigged out and i never heard it when i was alone i was with my family my sis gets scared and goes to hte basement to hide
This voice is creeeeepppyy i was driving by myself in the middle of nowhere in texas, at night and this came on, it was a little freaky, and to top things off i was near a really small town, and the tornado was heading towards it so i hi tailed it to a dithch because thats what it said to do, this is true! I watched texas chain saw movie the night before so i was a little freaked out to be in this situation but in the end i got out ok and everything was cool
i have a noaa weather radio, got it at a garage sale. it's a little old, i listen to it a lot. I'm so dissapointed that there hasn't been a tornado since then. Ive been waiting a really long time!
tornado warnings scare me! Also Since were in The Wabash Valley in Indiana we get tornado warnings but never happen. The closest call was on June 14 2010. The tornado almost hit directly where Lafayette and West Lafayette
Even though I live in the East Coast, I H8 those things soooo much. Once when I was on vacay in MA with my sis (zepoodle9) , there was a fricking tornado warning even though there was NOOO TRONADO!!!
im sorry but that voice and the sirens would fucking shit me up more than anything in my life. swear i have phobia of all this. i like in the shitty UK where all it does is rain all year.
@Cassiefur Can't speak for the poster, but it is becoming a common recommendation around here to have one in every bedroom and one on each floor, just like a smoke alarm. Tornadoes can strike any time day or night, and nighttime tornadoes are the deadliest, and you can't rely on the tornado sirens to wake you up, especially if you're a heavy sleeper. These things will wake the dead! I have 4 of them in my house. It makes quite the racket when they go off! :)
Have to say, after watching a few of these vids, im pretty happy I dont live in Dixie Alley or Tornado Alley. I have an aunt and uncle that live just outside Greensburg, Kansas. They were REALLY lucky back in 2007 when the F5 swept through. It's good that they have these warnings though. Still, even living there, and hearing them go off....must be shit-your-pants scary lol
@Cassiefur I'm a storm chaser, so it's more of an adrenaline rush to me.. :-) I live about an hour north of Greensburg. But I moved here last year, so I've only seen it in recovery mode But I know how bad it was. As bad as it is when they hit places here in the Plains, I would NEVER want to live in Dixie alley. Storms out there are a whole other sport completely. They get stronger, they move faster, and you can't see them coming.
@MobileTaz in a way, i would love to chase tornado's, but since I live in Scotland, theres not much chance of that . Still though - it takes balls to chase them and i think i would probably freak a tiny little bit lol
I suppose living out there and enduring these storms becomes like second nature to you though.
@Howcast26 Couple ways. The poster was obviously watching the storm on TV, so they would know the storm is headed their way. Also, the National Weather Service and the Weather Channel send out text messages for watches/warnings to people who sign up. These texts hit your phone about 10-20 seconds before the weather radios receive the alert signal. That's how I know mine is about to go off.
@ilovecappuccino1 well techinically they save lives if your smart and get your ass to the basement, but they dont if your a complete fuck tard and stand there waiting to see the tornado!
I have 2 Midland 100 Weather Radios. I love them! They do however make me jump a little when they go off late at night. The first 1 I bought at Wal-Mart on clearance for about 7.00 if I remember correctly, and it was the last 1. The second one I bought over the phone from the weather radio store. The guy who works there told me the Midland 100 was the most popular. He said he sold more of those than any other. So I guess I made 2 good chioces!
i dont rlly care 4 these radios because of the fact that i have a thunderbolt siren in mah town!:D and i always look on the weather channel if the sky looks weird.
@lionsforlyons when mines unplugged it wont do a damn thing. you can silence the alarms on these aside from the selective siren defeat, but im sure if there is a tornado warning or a severe thunderstorm warning (something worth waking people up in the middle of the night for), it may still go off. i have yet to find this out..
I hate the weather radio voice... I just take the batteries out. AND THE WORST PART IS THATS THE ONLY WAY TO TURN IT OFF!!! If you turn the antenna off, it still goes off...
@sppsschoolkid it is a NOAA Public Alert Weather Hazard Radio, and there are tons of them available at RadioShack. In order to get the alert like in this video, the radio must say "public alert" on it.
yeah, i heard it on the radio in the car when we were in fresno it wasnt sunny it looked like it was cloudy, and it was a severe tunderstorm for hanford at 6:30
Mine says the exact thing except "The National Weather Service in Sullivan has issued a (What ever warning or watch) for Columbia County in South Central Wisconsin." hahaha..... I'm hopefully going to record it soon.
I think it's supposed to scare you so that you'll probably be more likely to get somewhere safe and so you'll know it's a dangerous situatuion I think...
i live in monroe in greencounty which is just east of laffeyett. i remember that storm. i have the same recording. 27 news is the only decent coverage in the madison area
Should that light on the left turn RED or something?
My "old school" radio shack SAME alert weather radio has a RED indicator for WARNING, and Yellow for WATCH. Nice feature if you were outside and missed the original warning.
@grooviant there are 4 lights on the side, advisory, watch, warning, and ready. the green ready light is the one you see. if you look a little closer you can see the red warning light at the top. ive had all 4 lit up at one time before.
is it possible for you to send me that warning well the sound file for it coz i'm doing a powerpoint project about tornados and i would like this warning or different 1 if any has 1 could u please send it to me bye
I think the radio/tv station strings hundreds of possible pre-recorded messages together for the final warning. Their servers receive an EAS SAFE header, which is very small and contains all of the vital information about the event. The server then forces the studio or whatever to generate and broadcast an EAS alert, and that strings together the sentence based on the info in the SAFE header.
It is actually NOAA "Craig".. It's a text-to-speech synthesizer. The NWS issues a written alert, which is then "read" by the Craig software. If you've ever seen the "Red Screen" warnings that scroll on The Weather Channel, that is the exact text that Craig reads.
mine did the same in virginia my computer showed the site and the storm on weatherbug it came up and said TWC has issued a *TORNADO WARNING SEEK SHELTER IMMEDATELY* then i beeped and beeped the twister never hit
The tests that go out at 2-3am are the EAS (Emergency Alert System) tests that the cable/satellite/radio providers are required to issue once a week and once a month. They only come across the TV and radio, and they do not trigger NOAA Weather/All Hazards Radios. The NOAA test is performed every Wednesday between 10am and noon (11:14AM for my area).
The NWS in Paducah, KY has issued a *Tornado Warning* for Vanderburg Co. Until.........Take Cover Now! If you wait to see or hear it coming, it may be too late to get to a Safe Place.
My NWS is from Paducah, KY too. PM me and let me know where you live. We might not live far away, but if anything we're probably at the most a couple of states away from each other.
@djkid9 when I was younger we had a weather radio and it would always go off and it scared me so I asked my dad "please tell those people to change their voices"
@Eisenbahnfan: This is a severe weather warning. Now it is warning of a local tornado. The frequency (In U.S.) is 162.40 to 162.55 MHz FM. If dangerous weather is approaching, the radio will turn itself on and notify you.
sucks if your alone.

Should that light on the left turn RED or something?
My "old school" radio shack SAME alert weather radio has a RED indicator for WARNING, and Yellow for WATCH. Nice feature if you were outside and missed the original warning.
grooviant 1 year ago
@grooviant there are 4 lights on the side, advisory, watch, warning, and ready. the green ready light is the one you see. if you look a little closer you can see the red warning light at the top. ive had all 4 lit up at one time before.

Just rip the audio from the clip and give credit to it. He doesn't own that sound from the device, as he did not create it.

Is this voice computer generated or spoken sentences put together?
jzaboo1984 2 years ago
I think the radio/tv station strings hundreds of possible pre-recorded messages together for the final warning. Their servers receive an EAS SAFE header, which is very small and contains all of the vital information about the event. The server then forces the studio or whatever to generate and broadcast an EAS alert, and that strings together the sentence based on the info in the SAFE header.

It is actually NOAA "Craig".. It's a text-to-speech synthesizer. The NWS issues a written alert, which is then "read" by the Craig software. If you've ever seen the "Red Screen" warnings that scroll on The Weather Channel, that is the exact text that Craig reads.

mine did the same in virginia my computer showed the site and the storm on weatherbug it came up and said TWC has issued a *TORNADO WARNING SEEK SHELTER IMMEDATELY* then i beeped and beeped the twister never hit

i hate when they test those at like three in the morning and im still awake and watching tv
shannonlovesjay 2 years ago 4
The tests that go out at 2-3am are the EAS (Emergency Alert System) tests that the cable/satellite/radio providers are required to issue once a week and once a month. They only come across the TV and radio, and they do not trigger NOAA Weather/All Hazards Radios. The NOAA test is performed every Wednesday between 10am and noon (11:14AM for my area).

The NWS in Paducah, KY has issued a *Tornado Warning* for Vanderburg Co. Until.........Take Cover Now! If you wait to see or hear it coming, it may be too late to get to a Safe Place.
(What I hear.)
Jon13bur 2 years ago 2
My NWS is from Paducah, KY too. PM me and let me know where you live. We might not live far away, but if anything we're probably at the most a couple of states away from each other.

Hello!
What kind of warning is this in the Radio?
Warning of normaly Radio Frequencies?
Eisenbahnfan 2 years ago
@Eisenbahnfan: This is a severe weather warning. Now it is warning of a local tornado. The frequency (In U.S.) is 162.40 to 162.55 MHz FM. If dangerous weather is approaching, the radio will turn itself on and notify you.
