Win improved a LOT with his live vocals from then to the Neon Bible tour. Their 2005 shows are pretty raw/less polished than their Neon Bible/Suburbs shows. The sound setup wasn't the greatest here either, so it doesn't give them as much credit as they deserve

there's a difference between being a good sing and being a cool singer...I wasn't dissing her style, i was saying she was as flat and kinda tuneless on this one as Natalie from the dears. musical aesthetics is different from the empirically definable stuff of technique....

I'm not saying people with good technique are better musicians, merely saying she's pretty dang flat, and it's interesting that the other most tuneless female voice i've ever heard is also from montreal!

This is my favourite television appearance by a band. Very daring of ARCADE FIRE to choose this song. The drumming is hilarious. The whole band is constantly in motion. And there's the quirky feeling that this is The Addams Family Gone musical. Utterly brilliant!!!
