  • A beautiful drive indeed

  • Grew up in Nantahala NC man i love my home been all over the USA in tractor tailers and have yet to find anywhere that is more beautiful then the great smokey mountains! GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  • Great....

  • rode this last week on a Harley and carried on over the Smokeys into Gatlingburg. Im from the UK and I have to say you Americans have a beautiful country.

  • @skahead63 Thank you! This area sure is a beautiful part of it.

  • Great video. Can't wait to see all those leaves again. What kind of camera do you own. Not one shake!

  • Thanks, I use a Sony HCR-HD9 mounted on a heavy tripod in the front seat floorboard, it seems to work well.

  • What a awesome video! That drive must've been totally exhilirating for you. Never a dull moment. I'd love to take that highway and enjoy a nice drive under the sun!

  • Thanks, that was a good day indeed.

  • Woohoo, I live in Franklin. Thanks for this video so I can see what it looks like here when everything is green again.

  • No matter what time a day or season it is...whenever I drive from ATL to Gatlinburg, I get a red light at that intersection of 441 and NC-105 in Dillsboro every dang time.

Maybe Saturday's drive will be different.

Great work on your videos! This fellow Stone Mountainer is a fan.

  • Thank you!

  • believe it or not you were in heavy traffic all the to the TN line.:-p

  • If you thought going up the mountain at 2:30 was fun you should try going down! You should have taken a detour thru Dillsboro to see Western Carolina. That drive is really nice.

  • I've done that before, i had a friend who went to WCU, it is a nice ride.

  • 3:43 There was a road named "Pumpkintown Road", it leads to my family's property.

  • Was that an Amoco station at 4:40? All the Amoco signs in my neck o' the woods are in front of abandoned stations...

  • Yes I believe it was

  • Not only was that an awesome scenic drive, but also, it had me dancing and grooving in my seat.

    FreewayJim RULES!!!

  • Thanks Steve :)

  • I was at the 4th of July Parade in Franklin when you filmed this!

I am glad you passed through my neck of the woods!!!

  • Nice video, Jim.

Haven't been up there since going to Gatlinburg.

  • Great vid and nice road. It's my preferred route from the Raleigh/Durham area in and out of Atlanta is US 23 to I-40. Much less headache than I-85.

  • That's one of my favorite drives through there.

Last went through there in 2005 though. Drove that highway, and other highways all the way to Asheville.

  • Dug up the old digital camera pictures I took on that trip, and was able to freeze frame this video to the pictures I took.

  • I have to agree, I doubt that runaway truck ramp could stop a Smart car. Great drive Jim, I'll be sure to check this highway out next time I am in this part of the state!

  • in my opinion. You put some of the best effort in ur videos than most of the most subscribed people on youtube.

  • Thanks, I appreciate that.

  • Rewatching this video today, and I have to agree with both you and sand that this ramp is unusually short for one. And actually, I think a Smart car is about the only vehicle that truck ramp might successfully stop. :)

  • Yeah that was really awesome 5* as always

  • Thank you!

  • It takes a lot of talent to turn a ride into a video of this quality. Nice work!

  • Thank you!

  • LOVE IT! :)

  • I just might have to drive this route for myself. Such a beautiful road!

  • hope you take from cheorkee NC to top of smoky Mts to Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge..

  • Sorry, did not go that way.

  • Great Video JIM!!! As always!!!

  • Loved your choice of song for this video. This is one of my very favorite 80s songs by far, despite that I'm NOT big with music from the 80s. Sadly have never seen Style Council in concert, though. (but would love to, if by some chance they still tour)

You should consider filming portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway for future videos, I've always had great times driving along that road throughout my lifetime. (but haven't gone on it since I did 3-4(?) years ago)

  • great post.. very nice views indeed, to be continued .. cant wait to see the rest of the video..

    great job

  • @ 1:51 Why is there a Ford dealership in the middle of nowhere?

  • As always superior vids. Thank you.

  • Beautiful scenery.

  • lol, first thing I did when viewing this video was getting my 2010 Rand McNally atlas, but you put up a map at the beginning :)

Great music by the way, never heard of it.

  • lol, well I figured this was a pretty "off the beaten path" place I'd better give folks some idea of where it is.

Glad you liked the song, it was popular in the mid 80's.

  • Nice video. Kind of reminds me of the drive from Gresham, OR to Mt. Hood. :)
