Once donated after a bender - was thinking of getting a nurse to stop it when I felt like I was going to throw-up... but I figured it was better to just keep going and I didn't hurl in the end. All in all a success.
I donated blood for thee first time yesterday.i never received any anesthesia, but for a while the nurse couldnt find a vein, once found it i just relaxed but when the bag was nearly full the nurse said it had stopped so another nurse had to come and hold the needle in till the end i felt nothing and it was totally fine until he pulled the needle out annd i hit the sweats and felt sick and faint, after laying with my head lower than my feet in the recovery position and having juice i was fine.
Make sure to drink lots of fluids and eat a good meal the day of and night before. I gave blood and it ended with me passing out and a concussion from hitting my head. And I did both of these things beforehand. Also make sure to keep food and fluids in you afterwards also!
If I'm correct type AB negetive (my blood type) is the rarest of types right, I just want to be sure. my friend has type O and I need a counter attack. I excited to give blood for the first time. tell me, do you feel faint after or immediatly after you give blood? (I'm driving alone and need to know how long to wait.)
I donated blood today, felt woozy, vision started to blur, and I barfed my breakfast oatmeal on my t-shirt. I think I'm too skinny, or I don't like needles.
I just donated my blood for the first time last week!! It was awesome and I felt great! It didn't even bother me I was asking a whole bunch of questions! ♥ Isn't it cool we just saved three lives?!
@parkourulez well for me it took about an hour and a half maybe more. The first part of the hour I was answering questions and getting my finger prick, which is the most painful thing in the whole process! Good luck and God bless you!
Great i'm glad you feel you wasted your time watching it, just as i have wasted my time replying to your pointless comment. feel free to keep it going by making another totally gay comment :-)
I hate how they leave the needle in for so long!

Drink lots of water in the 24hrs before hand and especially the morning before you go at least 1.5 litres.
I felt very faint at the end of this donation but I didn't have enough water. I will do it again soon.

@KingOfZilla There are hundreds of very rare blood types, I'm quite sure AB- is more common than many of them.

Sure the nurses would have told you if they thought you would have a problem cause of your size.
Drink heaps of water which will also help you blood flow quicker next time.
I can bleed a pint in about 4.5 minutes.
