today was my firefighting meeting and right in the middle the sirens went off..i had no equipment..either way i went out there and was raking embers back into the fire i just about passed out from the fumes but we got it done but my leg is burnt a little o well i guess extra crispy is better than raw :D
Do firefighters who train for stucture fires also train for forest/brush fires? And do firest/brush firefighters also train for structure fires? I've always wondered that.
not cool person. people loose their lives to this. and not just in a physical form. but their memories, pets, items of emotional value, hand donws from generations to generations. i give nothing but the up most respect to these men and women for protecting what we love. so much i am currently taking my classes for oregons 2009 wildfire season. may our lookouts be awake.
wow here you dont no what we have to go tro i live in californa so you dont know and we smell smoke and we have to move and watc it so you dont know what if feels like
Great video coverage! Demonstrates not only your confidence in situations like these... but you have captured the confidence of my fellow fire fighters as well. Keep up to Good Work as I am always looking for video to use as a training reference to the truth about "The way it is!" Thanks! 3w's dot fireandlifesafety dot org
Hey man, if your a firefighter than THANKYOU! ive been evacuated before, its no fun, and you guys try as hard as is humanly possible to save lives first, and material possesions second. tell me your station number and when im rich im going to donate money to firefighters accross the entire state because they deserve to be payed WAY more. again, thankyou, you guys saved my aunts house back in 2000 or so, another one of the "bad" fire years, as if none are bad. I pray for you guys tonight!
Anytime! Thanks for the acknowledgement of just another day at our office... when the stuff truly hits the fan! I am working hard to train firefighters how to more Fire Safe... please go to 3w's dot hftfire dot com and read how many are injured and worse because they do not know the impact of a few unvoidable Laws of Physics
Oh believe me, I'm a Mechanical Engineering student, and i know the laws of physics, weather, health, and everything else that these fires effect and affect(sadly insurance too) and you guys also saved my house among hundreds of others in upper ojai. Dare i blame F.E.M.....oh wait, dont wanna get censored, might be too late!
Amazing. I hope that one house was left safe from the fire. At the end there, the firefighters were aiming the water towards the top of the fire which seems kind of useless... aren't you supposed to aim water and fire extinguishers at the base of the fire? Anyway, cool footage!
im just guessing here, but maybe he was trying to wet the brush. I don't think there was much hope in putting out the fire in that shot with one hose.
I was a little cautious....The wind was not blowing like it could, so it wasnt so bad. I was worried more about my car and being able to get back to it in time in case it blew up around or toward me.
I used to live there. :c

That looked intense..good job! It must suck having those low powered hoses, but I understand it with the water supply problems at brush fires.

Departments in an Urban / Wildland interface are cross trained for both structure and vegetation fires.

anyone know what that shit is that they dump from the air?
BloodWryght666 2 years ago
What you see being dropped from planes is fire retardant or "Foscheck". It is a mixture of water and fertilizer, which is dyed red.

Your footage tells it like it is! Good Job. I know you felt that!

That brush just burns like gasoline in the hot dry weather.
Thank goodness, I'm in Texas.
Where the brush burns only "almost" like gasoline.
