    Rang true

  • Seems it never rains in southern California. Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before. It never rains in California. But girl don't they warn ya.. It pours, man it pours.. Out of work, I'm out of my head.. Out of self respect, I'm out of bread.. I'm underloved, I'm underfed, I wanna go home. It never rains in California.. But girl don't they warn ya.. It pours, man it pours.

  • @MrBillyhedge

come on now...you are ruining the song by this type of question !

  • @MrBillyhedge Yes, it rains Torrance! (oh, I slay me sometimes)...

  • Lo mejor de Albert.......muy buena cancion..parte de mi vida.

  • They used to play this song on the radio about every 5 minutes, but somehow I never got tired of it!

  • what a musical family, the Hammonds. :)

  • This brings back so much sweet memories from my childhood. Thank you very much for posting this song! From Bangkok, Thailand

  • Jeez, I never cared that much for this song, but after watching him sing it, I've changed my tune!!!!

  • Many of us grew older, we don't even have those looks anymore... yet this tune will never get old!!!

  • Just another reason (if any are actually needed) why I believe pop music reached its zenith in the 70"s. This song is timeless to me, as good music SHOULD be - and, while pure 70's, doesn't sound dated whatsoever. A classic.

  • Well.

I know this song from my childhood..in Ethiopia. Heartfelt.

  • for some reason this song brings back great memories of a family trip we took to souther california when i think i was 13, it was my first trip out of Australia

  • Very nice song and easy to sing too, try it.

  • Awesome sound!!!

  • He isnt talking about actual rain. He is talking about opportunities raining down or lack there of.

  • I was starting high school in the San Fernando Valley when this song came out so it brings back good memories. I still live in Southern California and it is going to rain this weekend. What's up with that.

  • This is very George Harrison-esque isn't it? Even looks like George!

  • @TravelinBand747 Hey yeah, I never noticed that before! (the song isn't very much like him though).

  • Back in Fall of '72 we had this really cool Junior High Bus Driver who would turn on the Radio to CKLW every morning. This song came on and I so vividly remember this raven haired girl named Claire. She was a "Gypsy," and so an outcast as far as the rest of the kids were concerned. You didn't talk to her, or associate with her kind. But everyday that we left the Junior High bus lot on #44, we looked at each other as if we understood the other's thoughts. I felt we missed so much.

  • @jeff62rey Did "Gypsy Woman" ever play? :)

  • OMG this song was my anthem growing up in Germany. I only understood that it never rains in SO CAL and I had to go! Maybe if I had understood the rest of the song I would have kept my butt at home and saved myself a lot of heartache! It is very bittersweet for me but I still adore this song and Albert Hammond for singing it so beautifully :(, :)

  • un clasico de 1975

  • Esta melodia la escribio el comediante Benny Hill junto con Albert.

  • Written by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood who also wrote "The Air That I Breathe" recorded by The Hollies.

  • Ask the people of Gibraltar if they want to stay British. 100% VOTED YES. Cueta is a rock in Morroco stolen by the Spaniards.

  • @bugibbab0y 100%? I don't think i would trust that vote count!

  • Albert's dad rox!

  • Spain, under Phillip V, lost the War of the Spanish Succession and one of the prices they paid was ceding Gibraltar to the British. It wasn't "stolen", that's how things worked back then. Get your facts straight.

    Great song btw.

  • @spiderkins From the point of view of 21 century. We call that was "stolen" and "robbed". Cheers.

  • This song is about a young man who was not well prepared before came to S. California, only to find out that life was not sunshine (easy) all the time. It rained sometimes. However, I would say that even though, if you fight hard, you will reach your goal (like Albert Hammond) or you come to get a higher engineering degree here at LA, and get a great job, then you will feel S. Califonia is sunshine all the time :) :)

  • I remember hearing that are a movie about a guy that moves to cali and suffered a horrible ordeal . This is what this song reference to. Nice song . Good video. However that sad true story tainted the song in mind mine. I want to know the name of the movie.

  • @momsher1 Sorry i'm spanish :)

  • @momsher1

I second that emotion! I can remember as a teenager hearing this song a lot on local radio when it first came out in the 70's. Quite a catchy tune...and I must say, Mr Hammond was one handsome chap! Dig that 70's hair in the video! Ha! THANKS for your thoughtful and insightful comment! :)

  • @enrique23f son lindas pero tanto como melas nooo pssssss jijijijij

  • One of the most successful songwriters in the 70s and beyond. He's written so many hits for himself and others for many decades, and he's such a natural story teller. To me this song is his best from that 70s era. Not the best singer, but the best song written by one of the best songwriters in the world ... ever. Love him!

  • o melodie foarte draga mie in tineretea mea timpurie...

  • this song is fresh right from Over Here
