Seems it never rains in southern California. Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before. It never rains in California. But girl don't they warn ya.. It pours, man it pours.. Out of work, I'm out of my head.. Out of self respect, I'm out of bread.. I'm underloved, I'm underfed, I wanna go home. It never rains in California.. But girl don't they warn ya.. It pours, man it pours.
Will you tell the folks back home I nearly made it Had offers but didn't know which one to take Please don't tell 'em how you found me Don't tell 'em how you found me Gimme a break, give me a break Seems it never rains in southern California Seems I've often heard that kind of talk before It never rains in California But girl don't they warn ya It pours, man it pours
Dear friend, if you want to listen to this song again as well as an endless number of love songs I suggest you visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - look for the URL in Google (search Musica para Mimos). Greatest romantic hits of all times!!!
Just another reason (if any are actually needed) why I believe pop music reached its zenith in the 70"s. This song is timeless to me, as good music SHOULD be - and, while pure 70's, doesn't sound dated whatsoever. A classic.
for some reason this song brings back great memories of a family trip we took to souther california when i think i was 13, it was my first trip out of Australia
@1955porsche hahahahah he never lived in socal!!! specially in january to february! hahahahahah pinche vato loco , of course it rains at buckets in socal!....hahahahah VIVA SOUTHER CALIFORNIA PENDEJOS!
Here's another song I loved so much from my childhood! I'd hear it on my mom's 8-track tape, monster hits, or the radio, as we traveled along in her car to you knew where! Peace and Love to All, BobbyK
I was starting high school in the San Fernando Valley when this song came out so it brings back good memories. I still live in Southern California and it is going to rain this weekend. What's up with that.
Back in Fall of '72 we had this really cool Junior High Bus Driver who would turn on the Radio to CKLW every morning. This song came on and I so vividly remember this raven haired girl named Claire. She was a "Gypsy," and so an outcast as far as the rest of the kids were concerned. You didn't talk to her, or associate with her kind. But everyday that we left the Junior High bus lot on #44, we looked at each other as if we understood the other's thoughts. I felt we missed so much.
OMG this song was my anthem growing up in Germany. I only understood that it never rains in SO CAL and I had to go! Maybe if I had understood the rest of the song I would have kept my butt at home and saved myself a lot of heartache! It is very bittersweet for me but I still adore this song and Albert Hammond for singing it so beautifully :(, :)
I was born and raised in Southern California! Straight out of the O.C., but now I'm in college in New York...IMY SoCal...and this song is true. It's always sunny:)
"Out of work, i'm out of my head, out of self respect, I'm outta bread." Boy does this describe too many of the 99% today. O for simpler, secure days.

This song defines a time in my life. I have never been to So Cal (I am Australian), but I can relate. He is handsome and has such a warm expression. What was he like in person?
Wonder why he didn't have more hits on The Billboard Pop Charts; Did he have a problem being focused? This tune is nice, he should have had more hits than he did.Oh well...
Oh gosh what an amazing singer he is, and most likely one of the most handsome for sure..So how come back then, I never knew of him? such a shame, glad we have Youtube yes indeed :)
Spain, under Phillip V, lost the War of the Spanish Succession and one of the prices they paid was ceding Gibraltar to the British. It wasn't "stolen", that's how things worked back then. Get your facts straight.
This song is about a young man who was not well prepared before came to S. California, only to find out that life was not sunshine (easy) all the time. It rained sometimes. However, I would say that even though, if you fight hard, you will reach your goal (like Albert Hammond) or you come to get a higher engineering degree here at LA, and get a great job, then you will feel S. Califonia is sunshine all the time :) :)
I remember hearing that are a movie about a guy that moves to cali and suffered a horrible ordeal . This is what this song reference to. Nice song . Good video. However that sad true story tainted the song in mind mine. I want to know the name of the movie.
Thanks for posting this. Always wondered if anyone would post some of the great stuff from this gifted songster. Now we've got Piers Morgan on CNN, maybe he'll resurrect him on one of his shows!!
