Did any of you Smashing Pumpkins fans realize that Billy probably has a nightmare of an ego and controlling nature to deal with on a long term basis? James is having fun for a change. He genuinely looks happy. Can't remember him looking this happy when he was with SP.
On the left we have James Iha, guitar Superhero (If he was good enough for Billy, hes good enough for ANY of you suckers) Then, Bun E. Carlos. Part of the pop genius that is Cheap Trick. (Need I say more?) Then, Adam Schlesinger, Bassist Extraordinaire (Do your homework on FOW. They are savvy fellows) Taylor Hanson. He can sing. This is called GOOD POP, folks. Hating this because of its genre is just ignorant. Eh, what do I care. I'd rather idiots NOT listen to the same music as me.
I think this is Taylor saying "Hey I'm still here, so if I play shitty pop music for you all will you listen to my real band Hanson?" Because obviously this is the kind of music people these days like. I think Tay is just screwing with us.
@spacetrucker40 When Taylor Hanson was 17, always thought it would look like Bon Jovi when he had his age, and see that I´m not mistaken, he is looking like bon jovi ; )
I read the comments of this and can't help to think that if they were playing the exact same song, and had the same members, but the band Hanson had never existed, you people wouldn't be talking as much shit as you are right now.
I love the album version of this song but the Hanson boys singing ruins it here. I've listened to other live performances and his voice always sound strained and shakey. :(
surprisingly, this sounded exactly like i thought it would. power pop with a kick of the Japanese pop-punk and sloppy showmanship. they need to be rehearsing a bit more before coming into public.
i love hanson. i have for the past 10 years. but taylor's voice sounds horrible here, which i find surprising because i have heard him live before...singing well...
well.... my last hopes for something SOMEWHAT similar to the smashing pumpkins went to iha..... their gone as far as i see it..... i enjoy iha. i hope d'arcy does some work, chamberlain might do some jazz project, and billy will be billy.....
In all honesty, I would rather fuck myself in the ass with a shovel while at the same time fucking myself in the dick with a soldering iron than listen to that again.
wat the hell is wrong with james this isnt his type of music style i feel bad for him he shouldnt have gone with the pumkins instead of this pop crap he looks so old now too man i feel bad for james!
It seems as if Some of the comments are from people that are 1. thinking way TOO much about this band and music, in general, or 2. wanting others to have a degree from University to enjoy music, or 3.all of the above. To the James Iha person commenting..His solo record was 70's soft rock pop.Obviously you've only heard the Pumpkins /Billy Corrigan's 'anger-driven music..'
Everybody chill and enjoy melodies and people having fun!!
I love this band. Reminds me a lot of Cheap Trick and how good they used to be. Bun E Still has it. I'm surprised James likes this kind of music too. Taylors voice during this show was hoarse, but other live shows and on the album he sounds good.
Define supergroup. Supergroup doesn't mean music that is better than any other music thats ever been made before, you are taking the term supergroup way to serious. I think this band, and correct me if im wrong, but I think this band is more of "hobby" gone famous. As for "catchy" if you are using the term "catchy" when discribing a song, then you prob dont kno anything about music anyway. I think tinted windows is a good band, unlike some of the other self proclaimed super groups.
i think of a supergroup as members who have been in previous bands that have had an amount of success where they're known throughout the world as being popular during their heyday. I would say that qualifies Tinted Windows as a supergroup, (bass player being questionable though)
are you f***ing kidding do me a favor take some bass booster head phones plug in Stacy's Mom and try to tell me that Adam Schlesinger doesn't deserve super group status, and that Fountains of Wayne aren't true star material, learn your material and then consider commenting on youtube music videos dumbf***, Gahh people are so STUPID.
It has nothing to do with Adams playing. It's about the band as a whole, how well they're known throughout the world and how many hits through how many albums. It's not even debateable that FOW is not as popular as the other 3 bands.
just because one band is more popular and has more hits with the millions of little teenage whores in america today doesnt mean they have any talent at all whatsoever. just an example. but fountains of wayne is one of the most musically talented bands in our country, undeniably
I have to agree with you. Adam is a good musician and writer (obviously) but Fountains Of Wayne are not a big band by sales standards. If drumguy19 is going by "Stacy's Mom" then it just qualifies FOW as a one hit wonder.
this is pretty bad.. Im sorry this sounds like a song ive heard 10000 times before. you would think a super group would put together something really amazing, something orignal.
I can't help but like this song... as a long time Hanson fan I thought I was going to hate Taylor Hanson singing for a different group but this song is WAY to catchy for me to dislike. Can't wait for the new Hanson EP though. Now this song is going to be stuck in my head all day...
I've never heard of anyone describing Dylan, Hendrix and Zeppelin as "catchy". And actually comparing a pop-rock side-project to those legendary musicians is a compliment.
I'm not surprised, actually, I just think its terribly bad. It doesnt sound like anything from the 70s... it sounds like 90s boy band pop, and it is disgusting. Like, vomit inducingly bad
I'm just curious. Are you a musician and what are your musical tastes? The 70's were filled with a ridiculous amount of pop (from the Bay City Rollers to Cheap Trick to The Raspberries to the Ramones). Where were you? And please name the 90's boy band song this sounds like.
Every era has a ridiculous amount of pop. I play guitar. I like a lot of hard rock, some metal, only a handful of the "pop punk" bands, and alt rock... Hence, my interest in smashing pumpkins brought me here, only to be terribly disappointed... the 90s boy band reference is one I'd continue to defend, but I honestly can't listen to this song again. It was godawful
Well, I can definitely understand your disappointment if you were looking for something similar to Smashing Pumpkins because of Iha's involvement with the band, but like I said, this is a tribute to 70's power-pop. I still don't see how this sounds like a 90's boy-band to you. The chord patterns, arrangements, instruments, and even melody doesn't match anything I've ever heard from that era.
@LanceATL Agreed. But when the bar is set as low as it is these days, even mediocre shit gets air time. In the last few yrs I've noticed that many popular bands don't bother writing bridges. In the past, the bridge was often the most interesting and melodic part of a song. I'm not even sure that many of today's artists know how to write a bridge
Oh Taylor.......the poor guy must have been sick or something cause I've heard him live sounding A MILLION times better then that. *hangs head in embarrassment*
what's behind this supergroup fad that seems so popular right now...Chickenfoot, Tinted Windows, all the offshoot White Stripes groups, Velvet Revolver. Is it for money or temporary popularity?
They are just musicians getting together to do something interesting for themselves. The music industry is so destroyed right now that these bands are getting a large amount of press because not much else is going on.
the tempermental Billy Corgan changes his mind constantly which is why other musicians rarely stay with him very long. And after just a few songs I find his voice grating.
Regarding the "white pants" comment....the whole idea of Tinted Windows is to be retro...they are re-creating the late 70's, early 80's pop/rock sound...what was in fashion back then? slim ties, white pants.
haha i thought that the tinted windows would be all sad and blue but wow am i amazed that they are so.. sweet? this is so different from iha´s other work. and i guess it can´t be compared.

LOL tay has been smoking for a few years now... also Ike smokes too.. and taylor has problems with his vocals now which he was having during the walk recordings with his brothers
sorry its just its been made very public that taylor smokes and ur just hearing it now?
@PhotoFilmStudios If he smokes, does smoking affect a singer's quality of voice? Taylor has a great voice since he was a little kid (also reminds me of Jackson 5) and as he grew up (he was PURE AWWWEEESOME in the album Underneath).
Haha, it all makes soooo much sense now! James turned down a job in the Smashing Pumpkins to produce this kind of groundbreaking material.... NOT! Thankfully, Jeff is 100x better anyway.
as a grl it really is uncomfortable personally to wear white pants coz it is like ur afraid to stain it.And so if u put white pants on a guy, can't help but think how even more uncomfortable that is
I'm in a Central time zone, and when I watched this on TV, the mix was very unbalanced - you could not hear Taylor's vocals well at all, and James' guitar was wayyy too loud...
But the mix here sounds much more balanced than what I heard off my TV last night.
Tay is so sexy!

Taylor Hanson is the only man that can pull them off :)

@tongirl02 I kinda thought the same thing!
hehe
as a grl it really is uncomfortable personally to wear white pants coz it is like ur afraid to stain it.And so if u put white pants on a guy, can't help but think how even more uncomfortable that is

Ok, this is super weird.
I'm in a Central time zone, and when I watched this on TV, the mix was very unbalanced - you could not hear Taylor's vocals well at all, and James' guitar was wayyy too loud...
But the mix here sounds much more balanced than what I heard off my TV last night.
Weird.
Anyways, thanks for posting.
