He's wrong. Raising the minimum wage will not give poor workers a higher standard of living because when you raise the minimum wage, that means employers can't hire as many workers. Thus, unemployment is increased and employers will ONLY hire the workers whose skills satisfy the ever higher minimum wage. Generally, these higher skilled workers are NOT the poor working people he claims to be speaking for- they are the more experienced, and generally more wealthy ones that it helps.
