can't believe listners are putting her down for having a monitor! Good job, Alanis! I tried to memorize this song twice in my life & never did get all the way through it. It was disappointing that she didn't know all words to "Blowin' In The Wind." even though she sang it very well!
Looks like Alanis had some plastic surgery. Compare this look to her look 10 years ago... looks like two differnt women. Don't get me wrong looks like it was worth every penny.......dam she is looking good in this video!
Pretty darn good when you considering the fact that I believe she was a last minute replacement for Dylan when he couldn't make it.
How may people could stand in front of a huge crowd singing songs you have had almost no time to practice. So she read the lyrics off a monitor.
If she's had a week to prepare, she may not have needed it. But if she got the call with an hour or two before the perfomance to do it, then she succeeded with class.
@DarumaXIV What I mean is I've had the opportunity to perform in front of an audience (I doubt seriously if you have)....reading or singing makes no difference. It's not easy and if you think it is, you've obviously not experienced it. Go post to someone about something you know about, please (that is, if you KNOW about anything). If you respond to this, it only proves your adolescent age...probably 12 or so.
@belikewater001 Whatever. What is it, Frenchy-Canadian or something (not that I really care)? I'm secure enough. No need to concern yourself.

@technocrash09 Her version is poor...it's jerky...and it's because she only half knows the song. .and she had to read it..Are you just simple? As for your performance anxiety issues: Just because you can't do something is no reason to think the rest of us share your failing(s).
@DarumaXIV Since I already mentioned Gee Gee and Saluna in a previous comment, it is obvious you only read what you want to read. If you are going to go after someone, you should know what you are talking about first. And I agree, Saluna does it MUCH better. She and her Dad do alot of songs better than some original artists, not just this one. I feel they should be more well known myself. BTW, you proved your age, therefore this conversation is relatively pointless.
@technocrash09 PS Watch GeeGee and Soluna's version you arrogant prick..(It's the girl in the red sweater on the right, there). She's 16 and she makes Alanis look like the poseur is was that night.
@DarumaXIV #1-You are the arrogant prick sending message after message to someone who doesn't give two shits about you (issues?)
#2-When I said "I couldn't do it", I was referring to that particular song. If you are that good, show us. I do not have "anxiety". I simply said it wasn't easy. Again, unless you speak from experience, STFU.
#3-If you read this entire comment string, you would see below that I am already quite aware of Gee Gee and his daughter *derp*
Great video and sound! We don't expect to see Dylan's performance in such clarities on You Tube. Thanks a lot for the upload. I could easily spend an hour or so watching and learning to sing it. Mike. New Zealand.
For those of you who think Alanis had such a challenge that she had to read the lyrics, go to---Gee Gee & Soluna Subterranean Homesick Blues---on Tube (Dad and daughter duo). Excellent cover by these two with no reading, however the singer forgets the last verse and instead repeats the first one. Alanis does a fine job here...I know I couldn't do it. But go check these two out. One of the best covers I've heard (and I'm Dylan's age...I've heard alot of 'em)
Wow, she's really glued to that teleprompter on the floor. I like Alanis, but she shouldn't have tried to do Subterranean Homesick Blues. It sounds like she's just trying to hang onto her ass and get through it. I like her interpretation of Blowin' in the Wind though.
@ChristiansTheory The harmonica part in the original version is not any better, so do not criticize her that much, anyways it sounds pretty good for that song!
I saw Bob Dylan last year in Chicago and he is a truly genius, but I don't thin this cover is that bad. Obviously Bob Dylan is a legend, but Alanis is also good
She 's reading lines froman autocue, but the harmonica makes up for that. The 1st rapsong ever internantionally distributed. I love the Chilli Pepper's version as well. Turned it to rap of their time. I know it by heart without ever having made an effort. Just the words and images fell right into my head because they felt rtight.
@maryvale89 There are quite a few performers that need to use teleprompters, for their OWN songs and there is nothing wrong with it. And don't try to push aside the fact that you couldn't sing this without reading it. Until you can just shut the fuck up.
@CainmosniMirrored Well, maybe that's a problem. Shouldn't a song you're performing mean enough to you for you to know exactly what you're singing and why you're singing it?
u sir are fucked in the head. bob dylan is one of the best singer / songwriters in the world. it is possible u dont like the style but that just means u have no taste at all

there both god. there original. just because they play diferent style doesnt mean that that one is more of an artist than the other. to tell the truth instrumentally dylan was a little cliche, except for a few songs, but his singing made up for that. besides for an uptempo version thechili peppers did well
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
if you actually knew about the chili peppers you would know that they have probibly the most talent out of any band today. their knowledge for music theory is impecable and john frusciante and flea are easily the greatest at their instruments today
It's all a matter of taste, you like him, others don't.. Personally, I think dylan is a half decent writer, but the guy sounds like a cat coughing up a fur ball when he sings. Definitely in the top 5 worst singers of all time. But again, it's all relative, I think from the late 60's and early 70's that CCR wrote and recorded some of the best all time songs.......obviously that's my opinion and not eveyone is going to feel the same way.
