Fifty one years before this John Sinclair video was uploaded Monk won the Downbeat Critics award for the best jazz pianist. He also won that award in '60 &'61.Subsequent ly there were more Downbeat awards,a Pulitzer Prize Special Citation and a cover photo on Time Magazine.So Sinclair's "they" may have more to do with his own psychic needs than with Monk's actual reception...There's a lack of intellectual honesty here and a self-serving misappropriation of Monk.
