I would probably call myself a conservationist, but, there is nothing wrong with fishing, either to eat the fish or to release them. Why is it worse then eaing beef, or chicken, do you know what happens to them. The real problem for fish stocks is not the occasional catch of fish that amatuers do, its the mittions that get netted by the professional fisherman, that everybody eats. They also have a large by-catch or in other words fish that get killed and not eaten. Pro's cause more damage.

As a fisherman, I love catching shark. I do not eat them; I catch them, get a picture, and release them back into the wild. They really are fun to catch; they put up a fantastic fight and provide a great picture. Sharks are precious parts of our world, and I love and respect them for their place in Nature. Ive caught many sharks, and not once has one tried to "eat" me, only to defend itself while it was being pulled aboard.

You tag the shark and fill out a card with information such as length, girth, male/female, etc. When someone else catches the shark, they can take measurements and send it in to the NOAA, they compare the info to when it was originally sent it and and see how much the shark has grown over time.

I'm not ignorant mind you, I'm a completely ethical fisherman and hunter. I do it because it's my families tradition, and to be quite honest... It tastes better than anything you get at a grocery store. When I catch a fish I want to eat, I put it in ice. It keeps it fresh and preserves it. It's been said it knocks the fish out too. When I'm taking a picture and releasing it, I hold my breath, and when I need a breath, I put the fish in the water for a few seconds to breathe.

people its not the regular fishermen that destroy the sharks. Besides its a fact that sharks are as more populated as every. Because of the number of attacks that have increased. If you are to be pissed, dont be pissed at the average fisher for we are only allowed to keep one a day. Its the long liners that kill over 50k sharks a year!!!!

VERY nice black tip, we catch one that size every once in a while here in Florida. Most of the time its a lot of 3-5 footers. I'm probably going to start tagging sharks too, its looks like fun. Don't pay attention to the haters.

I'm not ignorant mind you, I'm a completely ethical fisherman and hunter. I do it because it's my families tradition, and to be quite honest... It tastes better than anything you get at a grocery store. When I catch a fish I want to eat, I put it in ice. It keeps it fresh and preserves it. It's been said it knocks the fish out too. When I'm taking a picture and releasing it, I hold my breath, and when I need a breath, I put the fish in the water for a few seconds to breathe.

And i'll agree fish caught yourself/market fish tastes better than grocery stores 100%. I just hate how much waste is in the big industry with bicatch and such. And i hate trophy fishing..one day it'll be sustainble.
