He's using the standard "heel up" technique used by many drummers, it's easier on your leg muscles than the "heel down" method (where your heel remains grounded the whole time) and on a real drum kit it allows you to generate more power. The heel up method also makes it easier to play fast kick drum sections. This guy happens to be an experienced drummer (on real drums). Perhaps you should learn more about the subject you choose to comment on before making a fool of yourself.

Am I just crazy, or is the chart wrong for the chorus and intro playing? It seems to me that the ride (blue) should be played in quarter notes to the measure, but the chart has it as eighths. Maybe quarter note rhythms are too hard for Rockband?

Quarter notes are not hard for RockBand, they have songs in 16th's on Ride or Hi - Hat. I hear quarters in the song which are obviously not matched up with the 8ths being played, it's probably seperate from the set it's self in this song.

However, people always show their playing and they'll definitly look stupid skipping every cymbal so they cover half of the song. Also, their score will suck and people want a good score when putting a vid on youtube. Usually you skip a fill cymbal once or maximum twice just to get a good score, not to skip hard notes.

lol i used to think the same thing too. but i got good at those type of parts...you just first keep the rhythm of your foot steady and just to the notes so when you play the notes dont think of the kickpedal.

Well that lick i guess is easier if u learn the pedal first. Just practice constant pedals rythyms at that tempo and then the rest is just following ur hand to where u need to go. That part should come automatically when u get the first hit in the lick.
