this is beyond word beautiful.. i can only applaud this amazing musical genius.. i would only pray that i would have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sakamoto. #Man just imagine if music was a person she would be so complex to those that don't know her. but Mr. Sakamoto seems to know and understand her and still then he understands that there are more depths then this that he has already reached.
I watched this movie again the other nite & it affected me more the second time. I was already crying at the end from my emotions being stretched all the way through from the beauty of this film...and when this song played I started crying like a baby. I haven't cried that hard in years. His music is just so amazing, to be able to stir such emotion and draw it out. He's incredible! I love everything he does. So gifted.
100 $ Mister Benjamin Franklin 100 $ Brainwashed the people our morals and etics are infected by propagands of TV's Radio's Computers and by changing are moral and etic codes this kind of brain/soul virus infects everything we created and thats around us.
your father was right, when he said you cannot call a song bad because you dont agree with what your seeing, or feeling. music is much deeper than that. yes people do make shitty music and sell it. and yes is does dull our sences in terms of we are slowly forgetting the music that brought us to this point. i never did like 80's and 90's rock, but then i fell in love with the guitar, since then, i love listening to oldies guitar solo's. something as amazing as a solo, is lacking in this day
you guys are forgetting the most important thing, im only 20 years old, but i understand music the best, out of everyone that i have ever met, music is a reflection of our souls, and our humanity. it has been around since the dawn of time, and will constantly, and forever change as time moves forward. nothing about music will ever remain the same, but it is our duty, as listeners to constantly remind this newer era, of the place where music came from, and show ppl that there are different styles
Capitalism + Development & Progress = Selfishness thats how i see things people only want matirial and money the didnt destroy the music ... they destroyed sports , food , created computers and let children play 10 hours ... our life is changing but our body's cant evolve that fast with the changes it requers thousands of year.. thats what i think
My father is 48 years old he plays saxophone in my country its important for our folklore well what you did said about L.Gaga is that she makes bad songs..well my father told me..you cant just look at the screen and say when she shakes her body and show some things she does bad music ,he told me she do good songs even thought we cant compare them to the 60s 70s 80s rock or the Classics. You need to hear the music you cant ,you see the music there is good and bad music not generation music.
We unfortunatly live in a world were top hit music is made for money. People responsable for that get rich wile the people that listens to it gets dumb and more dumber. If someone insults me for calling this genre the most valuable thing inside music, i just say in their faces that they are a lost case... dont even bother about explaining that to a brainless person...
Some people just yet dont understand New Age Classic yet... they just dont understand that besides Rap, Hip-Hop, rock, theres another beautiful type of music out there.
I rap myself but being submerged in different things is how to be well rounded...this music touches my soul...so I listen to it...hip-hop touches my emotions so I make it...its a difference...but for those who don't understand...its their loss
Music has changed, It's no longer about making songs with tune, it's about shouting down a microphone about how many women you've had sex with and the size of your mac 10s,
Music, and it's vast consumption of life, has become a well oiled business, and whoever controls the Number 1 hits, controls History.
Theres no taste, Lady Gaga screams music about being a whore out of tune to music from the 80's Electro era, Kanye West butchers old music that used to be good, and Don't get me started on Club
@kurtchircop I find it hard to see all music as beautiful. I believe beauty lies within the uniqueness of the artist, but that beauty does not specifically apply to their music. Are you going to tell me Jason Derulo's "Watcha Say" is beautiful?
I think it's easier to find other songs that you like if there are categories like genres.
@kurtchircop you are right lol but i dont consider that music as music . i consider it as business which will lose the meaning of true and meaningful music like this piece here.
@Minwingo its funny u say that. im a 21 yr old dude and generally only listen to rap/hip hop i clicked on 1 of these videos tonight by accident looking for something else....that was a few hours ago :) i havnt stopped listening to his music since i stumbled across it. its well. yeah beautiful.
@Minwingo New Age? uh?... Sakamoto is far more close to contemporary music than New Age... if you know all the works of Mr.Sakamoto from YMO to today you will agree with me.
@epoch33 Each respective Genre's have their own personalities. So they are all good in their own respectives. Yet some people don't respect this and that, such as New Age.
sakamoto is truly an inspiration. his music is as light as a feather so soothing. his fingers seems to glide over the keys effortlessly. he's brilliant!
The harmony (Lydian Mode)and melody's progression he uses for this composition is similar to the one of "Acceptance - End Credits" (Little Buddha Soundtrack).
I think he loves this way of composing.
By the way, no theory could explain the beauty of his art.
Lord, how I love this man. I wish I were at Tokyo Geidai (which Sakamoto and heaps of other composing greats attended) but Berklee isn't any less amazing :)
I love his music! This man is our modern Erik Satie! Has anyone heard or had his theme for the film Toni Takitani because the music from this film is sublime? I hope to hear it on here one of these days. Thanks!

...Sakamoto's hair doesn't have the luster it used to have. I hate watching people age...but even as he gets older, he still has the same passion for beautiful music as he did 30 years ago.

hearing this soothing music makes me think god.. the music has really gone downhill these days its just plain shit!
i like music of a composer who has put his feelings in it and is master of his instrument and made it into a beautiful piece of art!

The music is pretty much the only reason I watched the movie. Although a actual movie was pretty good.
Funny enough, when I went to a website to watch it I saw some guy comment that the music was "boring and slow". what an idiot.

Unfortunently or Fortunently, he's not really well known in the US. I think.
I have searched his sheet music through google and found no trace of finding some. Others i have found. BTTB Book at some website.
I tried searching this one with an epic fail.
It would take at least 2-3 years for someone to post it in public,
Theres is a Piano book you can buy that includes. Search eBay: Ryuichi Sakamoto Piano Book.

ときには太古から知ってるような風景だったり、またあるときは雨のなかをゆきかうひとびとの雑踏だったりさまざま。

整った音色だけど、とっても深みのある重い曲です。
