Hi Matt. The Valve King has served me well. I am looking for a new guitar now however. Which guitar is this? Or do you recommend any others for such versatility!!?
Could you please tell me how accurate the modeling of the Krank Krankenstien amp(k-stien) and the mesa-boogie dual/triple rectifier (recto) amp. on the vypyr amp is? I haven't had the chance to test a vypyr yet.
two questions: does this amp sound better than line6 spider 4? and is the sanpera 2 a good pedal or should i look for a Boss one, what would be the cheaper in this case? Thanks and let me tell you that you totally rock!!
Can someone please show me or teach me how to do the Fade-in effect done at 1:30 - 1:43 i have this amp but in 75W its great, but the fade in effect is not a amp effect its done on the guitar somehow and I really want to learn the effect.
Simple Concept, but challenging sometimes...you need to hammer on the fretted note with the volume knob of the guitar turned down and then with your picking hand slowly raise the volume...the trick is getting it to sound as clean as him...he does it very well
some guy above asked if this pitch shifting can be done on the Sanpera I
yes it can be done, the sanpera I allows you to use Wah, Whammy, Pitch shifter and contriol volume. The only difference is the amount of presets it can hold. For the money it makes more sense to get the Sanpera I
Matthias, you are totally amazing! I LOVE this tune!!! Not to mention that you make that Peavey Vypyr work so beautifully for you! Watching this video makes me want to do one of two things...1) just quit playing guitar and sell all of my gear...or...2) get myself a Peavey rig like yours and be a Matthias Arp wannabe! AWESOME STUFF! 5*****!!!!
Yes, it actually does :) However, this amp is very powerful, so it's hard to adjust to a medium volume. You can either have it very low, or very high. But you can plug your headphones/headset directly into the amp, with high quality sound.
i dont have any problems playing it at a medium volume. the volume does increase greatly though between 3-5, and you have to turn the knob VERY slowly to get a medium volume but it can be done

the digitech whammy pedal costs a lot so you might wanna go behringer us600 instead but in that case u have to change the setings when playing and its not possible to mess with knobs using ur feet unless uve mastered some technique-and messing with knobs while playing live looks weird hehe..

i've been looking around for a amp and idk which to get the vypyr 15 watt or 30 watt i would love having the extra features but i dont really want to spend 100 bux more
can someone tell me if its worth the 100$ for the vypyr 30. and is there a diffrence bettwen the 15 watt and 30 watt like if 30 is made with better quality material or something?
take the 30watter - the 12inch speaker, loud enough for easy bandwork, by using the sanpera up to 400 effect programs, pitch shifter, looper, wha pedal, more effects... you won´t regret the 100 bucks... cheers & best regards Matt
hey matt i need to buy an amp and i use mainly an effects procesor and stompboxes for my guitar sound would you recommend the 100 watt vypyr or the 100 watt valveking
hi - well, if you like the sound of your effects unit and stompboxes, the valveking is your amp, cause all you need then is a good basic tone. but as both amps are interesting, check both of them and take the one you like better... best regards Matt
since u already have the effect pedals u need ,go for the valveking, its advantage is that it is a tube a,p so u might like it better unless u need tons of versatility..
I want to buy a peavey vypyr 30 but im worried about the quality control has it gotten better because a lot of peoples amps have died and since i live on an island i dont want much trouble because it sounds awesomeeee
i´ve never had any problems with both of my vypyrs (if i had, i´d tell you!!!) - and you´re right, they are great sounding and very inspiring tools! best regards to puerto rico - Matt
Think I'm doing something wrong... I've got the same exact settings as you in the post below (btw with "level 1" do you mean the first led so the value is actually at zero? probably not :D) and I play according to these tabs but it just sounds completely different. So one more question, how fast do you have the delay tempo? I think the song is around 140bpm so if you could approximate the tap tempo of the delay it would be great.
Damn it, it always happens that you find the answer right after you hit the post comment button... Tried it with triplets and there it was! What a nice sound.
Anyways, looking forward for more tabs :) Again nice job from you.
to be 100% exact, the delay length is the length of a dotted 8th note at 140bpm, so if you play 8th notes the delay signal will place exactly between the 8th notes and you will get perfect 16th... amazing effect! the formular to calculate the delay time is: 45000/song tempo(bpm)=delay time, so in the case of snake fight it´s 321ms... but as the vypyr hasn´t got a parametric delay time adjust, hit the tap tempo at the dotted 8th - it works! best regards Matt
main inspiration was the vypyr 30 - i had this minor 7 delay-lick and was looking for a totally different b-part - going through the effects i found that pitch shifter / whammy-sound...
I just bought the Vypyr 75 and the Sanpera I.I'm the kind of guy who can't stand ,more i don't understand by reading a stupid manual. The Vypyr seams a chalenge + the Sanpera+ i read that i had to link it to a computer via a USB-MIDI cable to get updates.
Why has Peavey not released somekind of video manual to learn how tu use the Vypyr and the Sanpera I-II
Hi Sylvain - to be honest: i´ve never done any updates, my Vypyr works brilliant, and the rest is plug and play. you have to know the sound you want to achieve and you need an idea, how to get that sound - which amps and effects will be suitable to get it. you can really learn a lot about sounds using that amp. to edit the effects and stompboxes just push the stompbox/effects-button and turn the knobs, to save your programs push the program knob for a couple of seconds - basically that´s all..
Hi Matt, you convinced me and i have bought this Peavey vypyr 30. I just want to say that this amp is very powerfull. I play in my cellar, and i when i play on dirty mod (red), i play with 1 master volume. And when I play clean, I play with 3-4 master volume.
the Vox is not bad, but I like the Vypyr much better - more access to the effects, better distortion and crunch sounds... compare them at your local dealer and please let us know! Thanks and best regards - Matt
It is quite loud, I actually played jam sessions with that little monster and it worked, but for serious bandwork I recommend the 75 or the 100 - more power, more headroom.
Hi - tube Vypyrs are not available in Europe yet, I just played them for a short time at trade shows - well, depends on what you want... if you need a really loud and cutting-through-the-band-sound amp, the tube vypyrs might be more suitable, but as always - check them out. And all Vypyrs have one thing in common: they offer great value for money!
Would you recommend this as opposed to a tube amp? I have an all tube crate and the demos on the vypyr seem to sound clearer than the tone in the Crate. Weird. I just want something that doesn't sacrifice tone to get all the effects that you can't get without buying tons of pedals.
the vypyrs are amazing tools if you want to work with many different sounds, they really got all the important effects on board to get everything you need. check them out and compare them with your amp... cheers Matt
I will as soon as I get a chance. I'm just curious because I don't usually like solid states because they sound very synth-like and don't have the same tone as a tube amp would. From what I've seen though, these Vypyrs might change that. What do you think?
i´m just a guitar player and not a technician, but i guess by using analog distortion they are closer to tube amps than any other modeling amp so far. a real and especially a good (!) tube amp still feels different, but we´re talking about a 200 bucks unit, and as you can hear it´s more than just a practice amp - i was really surprised that these small and unexpensive amps can be used as serious sound tools (as you can hear...)...
it´s the same sound, the effect is created with the guitar´s volume knob - turn down the volume, hit the string and turn the volume up again (you can see the movement of my right hand in the video) - you get a violin-like swelling sound... very beautyful effect! if you mean the sound at the beginning of the song: use a delay with a delay time of a dotted eigth note, just one feedback and a delay level as high as the original signal - you play eighth notes and hear 16th notes - amazing!
no i mean make it sound like a hammond organ since this is talking about the weird effects i figured you would have figured out what happens when you use the MOG and the rotary speaker together i have a video up about the organ sound ha ha maybe peavey needs ta hire me ta figure this stuff out
i had some really nice conversations with the guy before his passing. his knowledge was endless. not only in the musical side but also in tech too. he knew everything there was about this amp. such a helpful guy. i find myself coming back to watch all his videos at least 2-3 times a month. such a well rounded musician and awesome dude.

I was thinking, gee you've got alot of guitars on the wall, then I saw all the headstocks as well.
Peavey's always sounded good to me.
Great song, good feel.

fucking hell man!
this is epic sounding... this is ALL with the vypyr 30 and it's built in effects?
hearshotkid91 2 years ago
yes - all you hear is the Vypyr 30 plus the Sanpera II Footcontroller (you need it for the pitch shifter...) best regards Matt
mattrocks01 2 years ago
I have the vypyr I intend to buy the sanpera II as well. =]
again, thanks for these vids, it's what helped me choose the vypyr in the long run. =]

How is the midi out to the usb for this amp, is it good for programs like Ableton live?
jakethief 2 years ago
should be - but as the vypyr 30 doesn´t have the usb i haven´t tried it yet... regards Matt

Wow. This is pure brilliance. Any chance of seeing any tabs for it? You deserve more views, my friend.

I b1-e0-e3-e0-e2-e0-b1-e0 I

Hi again Matt!
Thanks so much, youre the best :)
Hemulii123 2 years ago
Damn it, it always happens that you find the answer right after you hit the post comment button... Tried it with triplets and there it was! What a nice sound.
Anyways, looking forward for more tabs :) Again nice job from you.
Hemulii123 2 years ago
to be 100% exact, the delay length is the length of a dotted 8th note at 140bpm, so if you play 8th notes the delay signal will place exactly between the 8th notes and you will get perfect 16th... amazing effect! the formular to calculate the delay time is: 45000/song tempo(bpm)=delay time, so in the case of snake fight it´s 321ms... but as the vypyr hasn´t got a parametric delay time adjust, hit the tap tempo at the dotted 8th - it works! best regards Matt

Wow, what was the inspiration for this? Intro sounds like M3 Part II by The Faunts.
bladerunner12 2 years ago
main inspiration was the vypyr 30 - i had this minor 7 delay-lick and was looking for a totally different b-part - going through the effects i found that pitch shifter / whammy-sound...

Hi,
I just bought the Vypyr 75 and the Sanpera I.I'm the kind of guy who can't stand ,more i don't understand by reading a stupid manual. The Vypyr seams a chalenge + the Sanpera+ i read that i had to link it to a computer via a USB-MIDI cable to get updates.
Why has Peavey not released somekind of video manual to learn how tu use the Vypyr and the Sanpera I-II
It's just so darn easier when you see and hear it
By the way your insane :op

Hi Sylvain - to be honest: i´ve never done any updates, my Vypyr works brilliant, and the rest is plug and play. you have to know the sound you want to achieve and you need an idea, how to get that sound - which amps and effects will be suitable to get it. you can really learn a lot about sounds using that amp. to edit the effects and stompboxes just push the stompbox/effects-button and turn the knobs, to save your programs push the program knob for a couple of seconds - basically that´s all..

Kartoffelbauer19 2 years ago
... na logenzack!!
mattrocks01 2 years ago
funktioniert der nur bei Vypyr?
ich hab n Cube 20x von Roland.
oder gibts den Fußschalter auch für Rolandverstärker?
Kartoffelbauer19 2 years ago

Kartoffelbauer19 2 years ago

not only have you convinced me to buy me a Peavy Vypr but know i want to practice more. Thanks Matt
Prisoner204 2 years ago 2
Hi Matt, you convinced me and i have bought this Peavey vypyr 30. I just want to say that this amp is very powerfull. I play in my cellar, and i when i play on dirty mod (red), i play with 1 master volume. And when I play clean, I play with 3-4 master volume.
ptichou4 2 years ago
lol I got the 75 watt version and i play it below one. My room shakes when I play it higher than 1.
dude9521 2 years ago
HI!! i also have been paid by the peavey corporation to post authentic comments on youtube!!! w
this amp is decent though. Wondering, is peavey ever going to come up with something on their own

What's it like switching patches? Is there a lag between changes? A silent spot? Do effects spillover?

mattrocks01 2 years ago
very nicely done...what amp is better the vypyr or the VOX Vt????
willworkformoney69 2 years ago
the Vox is not bad, but I like the Vypyr much better - more access to the effects, better distortion and crunch sounds... compare them at your local dealer and please let us know! Thanks and best regards - Matt
mattrocks01 2 years ago
thanx for your input...ill get back to u on what i liked better
willworkformoney69 2 years ago
do all sanpera II pedals have the pitch shifter and the wah pedal in the same pedal?
Dmann45622 2 years ago
yes - you can swap the volume and the expression pedal, but wha and pitch shifter are always in the same pedal
mattrocks01 2 years ago
Wow, you're very good :)
0lecm0gn0 2 years ago
waw, you play very good.
But, do you think we can play with this amp in group (with drum and bass) ? Not on stage.
ptichou4 2 years ago
It will be loud enough to be heard, but for serious bandwork I recommend the bigger versions (75 or 100). Cheers Matt
mattrocks01 2 years ago
how do you get that sound on the sanpera 2 with the pitch shifter and delay
RazrGuitar 2 years ago
The exact amp setting for the pitch shifter sound is: Stompbox: bypass, Amp: 6505 red, Pregain: 6, Low: 4 3/4, Mid: 4 1/2, Hi: 5 1/4, Effects: Pitch shifter, Parameter 1: 7, Parameter 2: 7, Delay Feedback: 2 1/4, Delay level: 3 3/4, Reverb level 1 1/4 - Sanpera switches the right pedal to pitch shifter-control automatically...
mattrocks01 2 years ago
Thats spectacular !
winterains 2 years ago
Great amp, probably my next amp
With this amp I can jamming or small gig?
odnan11 2 years ago
It is quite loud, I actually played jam sessions with that little monster and it worked, but for serious bandwork I recommend the 75 or the 100 - more power, more headroom.
mattrocks01 2 years ago
your songs are great man, do you have any tabs available

Hi Matthias.

Yeah thats a good question. (Differently worded) Would you ratter the TUBE Vypyr or its equivalent Solid State Vypyr.
enriquemiami 2 years ago
Hi - tube Vypyrs are not available in Europe yet, I just played them for a short time at trade shows - well, depends on what you want... if you need a really loud and cutting-through-the-band-sound amp, the tube vypyrs might be more suitable, but as always - check them out. And all Vypyrs have one thing in common: they offer great value for money!
mattrocks01 2 years ago
Hey, nice demo!
Would you recommend this as opposed to a tube amp? I have an all tube crate and the demos on the vypyr seem to sound clearer than the tone in the Crate. Weird. I just want something that doesn't sacrifice tone to get all the effects that you can't get without buying tons of pedals.
Thanks!
insainmusician 2 years ago
the vypyrs are amazing tools if you want to work with many different sounds, they really got all the important effects on board to get everything you need. check them out and compare them with your amp... cheers Matt
mattrocks01 2 years ago
I will as soon as I get a chance. I'm just curious because I don't usually like solid states because they sound very synth-like and don't have the same tone as a tube amp would. From what I've seen though, these Vypyrs might change that. What do you think?
Thanks again man!
insainmusician 2 years ago
i´m just a guitar player and not a technician, but i guess by using analog distortion they are closer to tube amps than any other modeling amp so far. a real and especially a good (!) tube amp still feels different, but we´re talking about a 200 bucks unit, and as you can hear it´s more than just a practice amp - i was really surprised that these small and unexpensive amps can be used as serious sound tools (as you can hear...)...
mattrocks01 2 years ago
I wish some place local had one so I could try it sooner...I'm anxious to try it and probably buy it! Thanks for the advice!

Dude clearly AWESOME!!!
I got the Vypyr 75. Love it. Could you help me out with how to set it up for the Pink Floyd sound on their song Run from the Wall?
Thanks and Rock On.

Dude. I wonder what do you have in your head to come out with such a weird melody. It sounds Awesome.
Mad Props.
If you ever in Miami the first beer is on me.
enriquemiami 2 years ago
hmmm im really suprised you havent figured out how to get tha organ sound
bloozelover 2 years ago
it´s the same sound, the effect is created with the guitar´s volume knob - turn down the volume, hit the string and turn the volume up again (you can see the movement of my right hand in the video) - you get a violin-like swelling sound... very beautyful effect! if you mean the sound at the beginning of the song: use a delay with a delay time of a dotted eigth note, just one feedback and a delay level as high as the original signal - you play eighth notes and hear 16th notes - amazing!
mattrocks01 2 years ago
no i mean make it sound like a hammond organ since this is talking about the weird effects i figured you would have figured out what happens when you use the MOG and the rotary speaker together i have a video up about the organ sound ha ha maybe peavey needs ta hire me ta figure this stuff out
