I hate it when people post and they go "Oh well I have a 3.99 GPA and im just not sure if i will get in!" Dude, chances are if your a half decent athlete who plays a spot and has done community service, You will get it. There average GPA acceptance rate is 3.3ish
i wish......i fricken wish i could even have the slightest glimmer of hope for getting into west point i have a 3.9 gps, but i still know that getting into West Point will be nearly impossible, I'm in the army reserves right now and ill be entering university of nebraska at lincoln and hopefully end up with a dental degree 8 years or so down the road,
but , i would give everything in my life up for one shot at west point, no questions asked
I'm at the USMA Prep School right now. we just got out for summer and then I'm showing up for R Day in late june. I'm sure it's gonna suck, much more than CCBT
@timmytebow15 to be honest, in high school i really didnt work that hard. i was an eagle scout and one of the best cross country runners in So Cal so i got recruited. I had a 3.13 CUM and i had a 660 math, 640 writing, and a 520 reading. That's pretty much why i went to USMAPS, and to get an extra year of running in. If you have any experience in leadership, athletics, and have a decent gpa, you'll probably get in. It's rough though, i currently have 205 hours... but it's a good experience
Airborne units are open to everyone--just not neccessarily the infantry part. Any branch can be stationed at Bragg. Yes, if you go combat arms, you can be a paratrooper. It depends on your station. Almost all Cadets get either Airborne or Air Assault wings while still in school.
While this is true, it is possible to go Marines from West Point if you have extenuating circumstances; in other words, if you want to do something you cannot do in the Army. You just have to justify it and get approval. One of my classmates cross-commissioned into the Marines.
The US Naval Academy commissions a portion of its graduates into the USMC. Occasionally the Academies have enabled 'swaps' of billets among graduating cadets, but that is never a guarantee--policy changes year-by-year. Closest equivalent via West Point would be to compete for an Infantry officer position. And rest assured--all cadets learn to swim in combat gear just like Marines...OooRa
Something just... doesn't work when the cadets doing the yelling at the 4th class are only a year or two older than them. They should have experienced NCO's or Warrant Officers do that, it'd be much more intimidating, and I am sure they'd command more awe and respect than a junior or senior.
Can't disagree that the cadet cadre during cadet basic training (CBT) are young (actually 2-3yrs the new cadets' senior). But, please consider:
1) What the cameras don't show are the senior (E7+) NCOs and officers (O3P+) that supervise the training and execution of all cadet activities--including CBT
2) The cadre members will be responsible for delivering life/death orders in much less friendly confines 12-24 mos after this point in their development
Unless you've been there, you cannot possibly comprehend the Cadet in the Red Sash. The ones they show are hardly a comparison as to what it is for many, and I guarantee you that even the former NCOs who end up as Cadets are themselves intimidated.
From the Academy's website - "You should participate in extracurricular activities that provide valuable leadership experiences and responsibilities...[examples]...
*Class, club, or student government
*Awards in academic societies [NHS]
*Athletics [1+ Varsity sports].
*Success in public speaking/other nonathletic activities.
I will still try to apply though, they represent and stand for everything I admire and respect most in a person. and not only that, but just as the woman said, are a part of something that is the bigger than themselves.
well on top of high requirements of academics, you need to be in good physical condition, as well as have the support and endorsement from your local congressman, senator, or the vice president.
There are many things that go with it. But determination is key
I respect your service to our country. But, I have a problem with your comment.
You and your PL may have some personal issues. But, please do not take that out on USMA or the entire group of officers that started or continued their Army service there.
Many graduates have given their lives in combat, including 3 of my good friends in the past few years. I know their fellow soldiers, of all ranks, would strongly disagree with your assessment.
EVAN!!! HIS HAIR!!! hahaha. So much hair.......hehe. Good luck budy. See you when I see you. ^-^ When you come back, your going to be an extra buff guy!
Haha I just caught a glimpse of my best friend who just got accepted to the USMA. Too bad he still had his hair when he was filmed as I would pay good money to see him with a cue-ball as a head! :)
EVAN!!! Evan Szablowski...he's my friend! the one that they showed having his hair shaved. And his dad is the pastor they interviewed. Keep up the good work, Evan!!!

My Platoon leader went to West Point. 0 combat time yet talks like she knows the ends and outs of combat. Got to love it!
