I am impressed. So you have a background track with chords and a beat and you can control the tempo with a footpedal? I'm curious about this technology. But you sound great and as a fellow performer I know how hard it is to accompany yourself while singing, and to control gadgets... great job! PS ever do The Last Time I Saw Her Face?
I was driving home from work today, switching through the radio stations and I come across this song. It flung me right back to childhood. I can't remember the last time I heard this. I'm thinking....what the hell kind of station am I on and,, it's been a really wierd week. So I looked it up & I'm surprised it is this popular. You sing it beautifully by the way! It is a good old song.
I had to post again. Your cover is on my favorites list. I have not heard a better rendition, or better guitar playing, for any GF song. You, Sir, are the best. Please do Cotton Jenny.

Just beautiful!!! What a gift you have, I can't wait to hear more.. this is absolutely perfect... are you in Canada?? Wish I could hear you in person... tennartlady
@tennartlady Thanks! You found the one wth the most hits too. My less listened to ones I hope to improve along the way.... I'll keep playing till I get them all right......john
You are wonderful! LOVE THE COMMENTS you put in your video - too funny! It's refreshing to meet a musician who doesn't take himself so seriously. I am a musician as well, do solo stuff, but sure would love to learn how you rigged up your "band". Do you ever get to Texas?
I played bass in OK every weekend from 1970-1982 and G. Lightfoot was a "staple". If you're ever in Austin, holler...I still play these great tunes. dd
You do a fantastic job and sound like G.L. himself! Nothing wrong with playing live with tracks. I do my own MIDI sequences and do the same thing. Keeps me busy and I took a full time gig away from a #$#% DJ so life can be good for us solo musicians. Keep up the fantastic work.
This poor guy is playing for spitoon money! Those two people who went by the camera-that was the owner and friend locking up and leaving the bar! Still, a pretty good rendition of a classic song!
I'm not easily impressed by much - but WOW! This is amazing - you are absolutely brilliant!!! I agree totally with freddodaw!!! Would ya consider playing "Rainbow Trout" some time? Cheers, dear! Tracy :-)))
Thank you very much for your nice comment. It means a lot. Rainbow Trout is great but the original key is a bit high for my 50 year old voice. I have tried it ... I'll maybe give it another try...john
I´m In St. Catharines,The Circle is Small¨¨ is a Gordon Lightfoot song from the the late 70's also known as "I Can See It In Your Eyes´ you would do a great job with it!
John, if you sing to me every night, I'll marry you :D Sounds great. I keep playing it over and over and over. What a psycho, eh? Are you on facebook?
Don't it drive ya up a wall to be singin' and pickin' a great song like that and people are yappin' away, walkin' around and pretty much ignoring the music ? That's why I always bring my own P.A. system and crank it up - - people actually like it better that way...and the ones who don't like the music just leave instead of being a distraction....
I love the tone in your voice, liked it better than the original and I'm from Canada so that's sayin alot !!! love your voice ! Thankyou, Oh and your waaaay too cute to boot ! :)
Wonderful job on a great song. Your voice is great. You play one hell of a guitar, too! Since I am a frustrated musician myself and have just tried to learn this song for another friend, I wish I could do it as well.
growing up as a angst ridden teenager, Gordon Lightfoots' music learned to soothe me and now, i'm 50 and it still works calm and wonder in me. Great job! you sound good! and in keeping witht he Lightfoot sound, you do it very well! thank you!
I, like Jacquie and others, generally want the real thing when we are looking for an artist, and I was introducing this song to a nice lady and found that this performance of "Rainy Day People" was VERY good and I chose to use it to introduce the song. Thanks very much for the great job! Patrick... Medford, Oregon
John- I suppose I am kind, but it's really just a matter of fact- you did a great job with that great Gordon Lightfoot song. One thing stood out: un-like most people who "cover" a song, you didn't go all out to give it your own style- you honored Gordon Lightfoot by doing the song the way he did it, and I thought it was very nice. You pretty much sounded and sang like Gordon Lightfoot. That's respect and I respect that. What is your last name and where do I see more of you work? ...Patrick
Thank you Jacquie. My love of Lightfoot music may be out of step a bit with whats popular. ..but I simply enjoy it too much to stop. Thanks again for listening. ....John
I saw gordon lightfoot at THE GREEK theater in LA around 1984. It was so great! My friend NICK and I smoked at fat one under the trees that night. Rest in Peace, Nicky.
hey thanks for tuning in and commenting. You are very kind. Great to go see Gord live. Have fun. I'm going in the fall when he makes it into Masey Hall in Toronto. Too long a wait.
Could you put your "I'm not supposed to care" video back on YouTube? You're very talented. So is Paul Bartlett. Keep up the good work.
