  • Solo denme la respuesta ¿Quien es el mejor bailarín de Tap? de todos los tiempos pero denme las razones suficientes :-]

  • Fred was fucking 50 here.

  • he actually made what would otherwise seem like feminine movement masculine and even gentleman

  • wow

  • I shud add that not ALL of MJ's dancing was based off of Fred Astaire but it was influential in his dancing & performing

  • MJ said himself that Fred Astaire was one of his idols

  • Did Micheal Jackson base his Danceing on Fred Astaire?

  • He was not human

  • Do you reckon this has been choreographed or improvised? Either way he's an absolute genius!

  • Man, this is beautiful...

  • Fred Astaire is just breathtaking to watch. It's unbelievable. There is not one second in this video where his dancing looks anything less than effortless. So precise and so creative. One of a kind!

  • Anyone who says that this is not genius, can throw a stone at me ...

  • A true master at his craft!

  • amazing

  • FRED Y MICHAEL.. LOS MEJORES BAILARINES!!!

  • Michael Jackson is partying with James Brown and Fred right now!

    Fred Astaire is improbably talented!

He is genius of dance ! ! !

  • My jaw actually dropped watching this!

  • I am also 15 and i love this

  • I'm 15 and I can tell you.... Most of my classmates would find this boring. The youth of today does not appreciate this. Most don't, anyways.

  • Wow Hes like the best dancer Ive ever seen.. I love him..

From Mariah Carey!! MiMi God Bless!

  • yes, he makes it look so easy and light, yet it is so unattainably close to divine... what a genius!

  • He makes it look that easy but it must have been freakin' hard to dance with a "piece of wood". Amazing!

  • As always, he made his partner look good...

  • お見事!!

  • how many 50 year olds do that kind of stuff today?????? and with sow much energy!!!!!!!!!!! tell me!! cause i'd like to know....

  • that was epic

  • Nice socks.

  • 6 redneck satanist cult members didnt like to be entertained

  • Where stuff started

  • why is it that we have crap like jersey shore on when we could go back to a time of music, arts, classy entertainment, talent, and glam? MTV should be puttin' on the ritz, not gettin' snookified.

  • @kinyune Because the movies themselves were actually pretty crappy with the only memorable bits being the dance numbers. It's always been about wow factor, only the methods have changed.

  • No bad comments about you young ones!! But the new Hollywood No Talents suck eh? This is ART!!

  • Justin who? I'm sorry, I'll pass. Gimme some of that Freddie!

  • I could watch this over and over. So fucking impressive

  • he doesn't need to sing, he has it all in them toes!

  • Wow !!!!!!!!!

  • He was so definately the master of his trade.

    Crackin stuff !!

  • i love this swing music! it´s so great and it compliments freds style so well :) i adore you fred! your are the greatest!!!

  • I so love this routine, because it literally illustrates that virtually every dance partner he ever had, could just as well have been a garden variety coat rack. LOL

  • @Mojochi Ahhh, but Ginger Rogers was no coat rack! She was definitely his compliment and not only in talent.

  • Grande fred !!! vc e o genio!!!

  • The people who disliked this are jealous because they can't dance like him

  • yeah he really was....

  • You know what's funny? When I was watching Royal Wedding (this scene), on TCM, my mom came downstairs and said to me, "What are you watching? Ooh- is that Bing Crosby?"

  • Fred i love you!!!!!! This man inspire me so much! Just for the record...i`m a dancer too!

  • MJ And Fred Astaire The Best Two Dancer In The World!!

  • @DancingForLiving u forgot gene kelly. that guy was amazing as well!!

  • For Chuck from Anna x

  • damn he would have been an amazing martial artist!

  • always dancing with a lamp coat hanger or a cane

  • unico

  • man, he is unbelievably and ridiculously talented.

  • its nice to watch awesomely choreographed dancing by one person rather than what we have today.

Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly were the dancing dynamos of their era

  • Thanks for sharing. Hard to find FA dance scenes these days on Youtube. Classic.

  • Fred Astaire inspired Michael Jackson

  • Intro to Americana...

  • before inviting ladies just take some training with a coat rack....lol.

  • one of the most impressive dances i've ever seen

  • excellent dancing! Anyone knows the name of the song?

  • Comment removed

  • He did large parts of it in one take. He practiced endlessly to master his craft.

  • He was really grate!!!

  • Before i watch this video i was thinking ever that the black people were better for dancing. Never more.

  • He was Grace incarnate! Amazing.

  • It's almost 5:30 AM. And they just played this on the channel I'm watching...I was greatly amused...

  • So which came first, the music or the dance?

  • Wow 5 idiots missed the like button...they should make those bigger. FRED ASTAIRE IS MY TAPING HERO!

  • who needs a 2nd take when ur this good. this is talent.

  • A long dance sequence, extremely good, plenty of talent!!

  • Was too young for ww1 and too old for ww2, the man was born and alloud to follow his bliss at the perfect time.

  • Makes it look easy, doesn't he? This & the kids playing Billy Elliot dancing while spinning a chair is tough, tough, tough!

  • This is very good. I like it alot and the music is awesome.

  • i find fred to be 10x more attractive than gable, cooper, or any other leading man of the day

  • people say "the youth of today doesn't appreciate real culture" i'm 17 and can tell you this is genius

  • @billbob456 I'm 13! Personaly, I don't think that "appreciation of real culture" has nothing to do with age.

  • @billbob456 me either

  • @billbob456 i do have to agree. everyone seems to think that all of us teenagers are OBSESSED with justin beiber. im 18 and i'd rather watch 100 gene kelly, marlon brando and fred astaire movies than watch any of justin beibers vids :) AND IM PROUD OF IT LOL :D

  • @yrti0121 you sir, are a good, good man. There should be more teens like you!

  • @billbob456 I'm 15..

  • @billbob456 Good for you! You are very enlightened. I'm 41 , and still find this amazing.

  • @billbob456 The fact that you're on YouTube really proves your point. :b

  • @billbob456 People generalize based on the media. There are loads of younger people who love this kind of music and film :)

  • @billbob456 im 27, i agree!

  • 40 seconds in, love it

  • Fred was 50 here? He was in AMAZING physical condition here for 50!!!

Looks like a spring chicken ;-)

  • freds so good

  • That was Great :D

  • Well, what can I say .....he tottaly ROCKS!!!

  • Le seul homme au monde à faire danser un porte-manteau.

  • Acts, sings, plays piano, and does a bit of dancing.(lol) Tends to put Britian (aint) Got Talent into perspective. This guy could fall down stairs and do it in time and make it look elegant.

  • @jumpdance24 Oh he plays drums too

  • fantardigo !!

  • I can't imagine even attempting a routine this complex; just getting the hat rack to wobble correctly must have taken a lot of time and if he doesn't get it right, has to start all over again. And how many 52 year olds move like this? Thank God Fred became a star when musicals were turned out every year; now he'd just be a Broadway Star and probably make a cameo appearance here or there.

  • God, he's so amazing. I love him.

  • bravo

  • I clapped to this video. He was bowing, I just had to.

  • The man is AMAZING!!!! He's so smooth he doesn't even look 50.

  • omg this shit got me gasping for air lol fuccin genius! takes simple objects and makes them interesting lol man hes got to b the greatest of all time

  • He was the Jackie Chan of dance!

  • I told Ginger Rogers not to go on that diet..

  • @PIGSICK1 grow up

  • @moroccansunshine never :-)

  • @PIGSICK1 cleverly it was more of a statement mature people would have understood that one :)

  • Just... WOW...!

  • Genius! In his honor I can now dance mambo with a broom. Astaire stillinspires!

  • did someone say he was 50 years old at this time?

come on: how old was he? now i have research this.

  • @okayhawaii

This movie (Royal Wedding) is from 1951, and he was born in 1899. So... Yes :)

  • @metalspork42

A very young 50! He never seemed to lose his shape

  • he is unbelievable oh my god. MJ chose the best to look up to as a dancer

  • he fucking rocks

  • genius!

  • fred is a genious with your fooths ^^

  • Wahnsinn,ich stöhn mit 43

  • Fred had wonderful balance. He made every move seem so smooth and authentic. Astaire was the only actor of his time to pull off a scene with this amount perfection.

  • i agree, the best on screen dancer of the time. most of his work was done in one shot, although this isnt it still shows his total professionalism

  • He was fuckin' 50 here.

  • @wilsondylanmccartney just goes to show if you stay that healthy it comes with you.

  • @wilsondylanmccartney omg what?

  • Great.

  • ... A great that never goes out of fashion......

  • Can YOU do it like Fred?

    It's amazing!

  • i dont know if anyone is as smooth as fred? james brown? michael jackson? who?

  • Jackie Chan =)

He gets alot of inspiration for his comedic slapstick fight scenes from the old creative masters like Fred Astair and Charlie Chaplin.

  • and to think a studio excet said- can't sing can't dance to this man. bet he took that to his grave.

  • He makes it look so easy.

  • Esse cara não é humano, simplesmente inoxidavel! (quer dizer brilhante).

  • Fred was a genius!

  • Vc será sempre o máximo!!!

  • No hubo ni habrá otro igual

  • Sensacional!

  • Amazing! Fantastic! Brilliant! Michael sure did get a lot from Fred Astaire!

  • Its soo lovely! It just makes me happy watching this! Again Michael Jackson admired such entertainers! Its so clear to see how he inspired MJ!

  • you can definitely see his influences in MJ's style

  • And to think, *no* CGI??!!!

  • WOW! he juggle! \o/

  • happy bday frad

  • Fred Astaire was the first human on earth who was able to do the MOONWALK!!

  • fred makes that coat rack dance better than anybody alive today!

  • that is so true he wase awesome a what he did he cold make eny thig look good whell he wase dancing

  • wow!

    That was soooo cool!

Saw something like this for the very first time...

    thanks stumble upon!

  • wow... the things people come up with when they're bored... that man is the best ever i'm telling you

  • Wow ! He is amazing !!!

  • Michael Jackson said his most exciting moment in his career was Fred Astaire calling him after Mowtown 25 (billie jean) telling him he never seen anyone move like him......

  • Watching this makes me giddy for some reason...

  • great. No "weight on his feet".

  • fred was a great actor singer and dancer though i'm only 18 i love almost all his movies i grew up with them and when times were hard just watching one of his movies made it all better cause there was just something about him that when u watch ed his movies that they always made u feel good inside unlike some of todays movies.

  • TentenTsunadechan, you've really tuned in to what Fred was all about. I suspect he'd be delighted to read your comments and, given his personality, humbled by them. He worked very hard to do his best and bring a little joy to all who came to see his plays and films.

That his performances continue to make people happy long after his passing is a testament to his commitment and extraordinary ability.

  • This guy is sick!

  • lol? what kind of comparement is that...

  • All those wannabe rockstars who tip over their mic stands and catch them with their foot are just copying him. he was so good that it's the only move he does that they can copy.
