Our family member, Jon (Shetland Sheeper), used to do the same. Jon would bite the nose & eyes off of a stuffed puppy, tear its ears apart, and what was left didn't even look like a stuffed puppy. Rather, it looked like a pie that someone accidentally dropped on the floor.

they know! I have a Collie, and she zeros right in on the stuffed collies and Lassie plushies, and she has a sheep one, too that she has claimed as her own. she doesn't try to kill hers, though, just carries them around so the other dogs don't get them.
