  • First of all we are not african american's we are american and second i'm a pretty good swimmer.

  • Anthony Ervin?! He isn't Black, is he??

  • he is an awesome swimmer I am amazed there isnt more black dudes swimming they are such good athletes. Hopefully we will see more like him he is a great swimmer and a really cool dude.

  • he is fioneee!

  • This guy's style is just beautiful to watch. For someone moving so fast he has such a graceful and elegant stroke.

  • why are blacks more vulnerable to drown???

  • They're not. This like many beliefs are out of ingnorance. Not stating you stupid, just clinacally ignorant. Blacks in AMERICA were refused access to beaches and pools which perpetuated a cycle of non-swimmers so. Blacks can swim like anyone else it's just the cycle of not getting in the water and learning that has to be broken. In fact I know many more black that swim than whites. Would you ask why whites can't swim???

  • because there arent enough swimming programs in areas where blacks are dominant.

  • @larsanien Because the muscle fibers of a black person have more density.

  • @larsanien because not enough blacks know how to swim. Thats why Im starting a free swimming and water safety program.

  • are there any black triathletes?

  • Quite a few... In fact an ex-NFL player is a Tri-athlete. They're there you just have to look for them like any other tri-athlete.

  • im black and i love to swim and i was on the swimteam for 3 years, it was fun to, but we only went to small meets kus i live in a small town and i got medals and ribbons, it fells good to win them to lol i think i jion this year since i didnt last year...

  • u can have SO much fun ... with me

    thanksSszsz TO

  • i dont like how they used him for the relay trials and then dumped him for the finals

  • strikenly handsome too cullen grat smile, smart too ,CULLEN IS AMAZING

  • 5 STARS FOR CULLEN, MY HERO

  • im totally 100% impressed after i saw OLYMPIC GOLD WIN ,THIS BOYZ IS THE MAN

  • I'm black and I can swim and scuba dive. It's great to see role models like Cullen so hopefully more African Americans will learn to swim. We need to stop thinking of swimming, diving, synchronised swimming as 'white people sports'and try them out ourselves. The sky's the limit if we're given the opportunity!

  • Wow, he is so amazing black swimmer ever I have see and I thought that I am the only person but it is come true that he made in olympic. I wish that I could made it but I am now too old. I wish that i want to teach all black young children need to learn swim and it is so important to save their life but during summertime when it is hot kids want to swim but they dont know how to swim but it is okay to learn no fears and I taught two children one is 5 and other one is 15 months both love to swim

  • You all just stop bringing race into everything, this is sport for godness sake

  • He has an amazing free and it is very nice and he is fast. But from what i see in this video his fly back and breast are horrible. This might just be beacause he is doing it slow but still its shocking his strokes are that bad.

  • 2:38 "african americans are more at risk of drowning..." wow

  • yeah wtf was that about

  • I think he's referring to a recent study by USA Swimming (see Splash magazine July '08) that found that minorities are nearly three times like to drown as their Caucasian counterparts - not AT ALL due to genetic factors or physical ability, but rather a lack of availability of swim/water safety lessons. There just aren't enough programs out there for learn-to-swim training - hopefully effort from athletes like Cullen will help swim lessons become more widely available for all children.

  • no! I am black I swim, I am 13 and my time is 23.08 what do you have 2 say about that?

  • im black and i think that is funny as hell. Just becuz there arent many black swimmers do not mean that we cannot at all.

  • It wasnt meant to be offensive i think mate. Its just that unfortunately in the U.S there are less African Americans that know about water safety. Thats why Cullen Jones is travelling around, and he's the face of this movement. Oh and dude, if youre telling the truth, youre pretty fast! Peace

  • he's good ,love my idol:*

  • he's definitely hot!

  • ultra smooth and graceful

  • i am good friends with him and the coach that taught him everything.. such a nice person

  • yes he is great person

  • he's got such a smooth freestyle. Usually sprinter look like there spinning there arms, but he's just very relaxed and has a strong pull

  • wow this is great gj
