I live in a country with universal health care, but don't like it. sort of, not if you have dental or eye problems. I lost a tooth when i was 8yrs old and its 1500 - 4g's to fix it (bridge or implant). And for some services it seems you need to pay fees. One guy i know was out $150 for his broken hand. Not sure what the charge was for though. Also i got to pay a couple hundred bucks every 2-4 years for glasses.
Obviously its better then the US, but in reality its only partial coverage.

@cjhindma: And the monthly fee you pay for it depends on what you earn so it is a sum everyone can afford. If you don't earn much you pay minimum fees (starting with some 150 Euros or so) while rich people will have to pay A LOT. Some people also voluntarily chose private insurance companies that tend to be less expensive (figure that *lol*) but those offer pretty much the same services.

I got a great feel good story for you America: A woman in my town: Her husband left her. She had 3 small children. She got 3 jobs to make ends meet. All part-time, ergo, no insurance. The insurance lapsed from her ex-husband's job. One day she got an infection. The hospital would not treat her cause it wasn't an emergency. Charities ie. tax exempt Christian fucks (too bad she didn't come to me) didn't help her. She lost her eye. Yay! End of story. Who hasn't witnessed something like this?

I know a close friend who lived in the UK. They felt sick one day, so they tried to get into the hospital. Due to the horrendous quality of care in universal care systems, she couldnt get in for 10 months. By the time she did, the cancer had spread. It was too late. In America (obviously our old system was broken, but fixable) this would never have happened. All systems have their horror stories.
This health care company is sexist but in times of economic drought they're penny pinching. I'm from the UK and my mate went through the NHS when he got cancer. Didn't cost him a penny, was looked after really well and lives to tell the tale all these years later. Thank goodness we have state health care.

sort of, not if you have dental or eye problems. I lost a tooth when i was 8yrs old and its 1500 - 4g's to fix it (bridge or implant). And for some services it seems you need to pay fees. One guy i know was out $150 for his broken hand. Not sure what the charge was for though. Also i got to pay a couple hundred bucks every 2-4 years for glasses.
Obviously its better then the US, but in reality its only partial coverage.

I'm gonna have to say that after watching numerous videos of yours, I agree with you most of the time. And in this video, I like your general idea but I have a few other thoughts which may back up those you deem as being wrong.
If there's a program for breast cancer, there should also be a program for testicular cancer. But see, men have testicles... everybody has breasts. So that really wouldn't be fair either. I do think certain types of cancer deserve more funding and understanding.

Secondly, the guy should have pressed for more money. You can't expect anybody to work for free. If you have lawyers spending time and effort on you (especially 10 years) they require payment. And after all that time, $10,000 seems reasonable. If I were ever to sue, I would sue a set amount for myself PLUS the costs of trial. I'm usually against government and it's system but I'm gonna have to side with the lawyers on this one.

It is a trade off, you get this and this but you also lose this and this. @JJAB91: Universal health care is not for free. XD We all pay a shitload of money for it depending on what we earn. The only people who get it for free are jobless people and children who are covered by their parents' health care.
Even the countries where it is seemingly for free they still tax you the amount they need to uphold the system. The point of the whole thing is that everyone puts money into a big pot and everyone will get money from that pot if needed. ;)

It is a daily thing for a lot of Americans to just be sick and hope for the best because you have rent to pay or food to buy. We only go to the doctor if it is an absolute emergency, if we even recognize it as an emergency. The People who are rich can put in a lot more money and still be stable. They don't do any work that is harder than their plumber, landscaper, construction, or garbage man.

@cjhindma: The majority of people in any country does the hard jobs that are moderately payed and won't enable them to pay for the expensive, good healthcare and that is just plain wrong. And then those people don't even get the idea of universal healthcare and are so scared of being called a commie for supporting it that they play along.. I don't get it. Or system in Germany is not 100% perfect either, but at least everyone gets the gets help when needed.

@cjhindma: And the monthly fee you pay for it depends on what you earn so it is a sum everyone can afford. If you don't earn much you pay minimum fees (starting with some 150 Euros or so) while rich people will have to pay A LOT. Some people also voluntarily chose private insurance companies that tend to be less expensive (figure that *lol*) but those offer pretty much the same services.

The insurance lapsed from her ex-husband's job. One day she got an infection. The hospital would not treat her cause it wasn't an emergency. When I had my massive stroke, I got perfect and correct healthcare. I am now retired on full pay due to my brain being rather fucked up.
I am insured in "Norwegian citizenship". Its a very good insurence plan, where I pay 30% taxes and get free healthcare, university and what-have-you. You should try it, its awesome!

I know a close friend who lived in the UK. They felt sick one day, so they tried to get into the hospital. Due to the horrendous quality of care in universal care systems, she couldnt get in for 10 months. By the time she did, the cancer had spread. It was too late. In America (obviously our old system was broken, but fixable) this would never have happened. All systems have their horror stories.

we have universal healthcare here, but it doesn't matter because everyone is this country is addicted to drugs and can't form a complete thought, which is why a trained team of medical professionals misdiagnosed my grandfather with heart disease, waiting three more weeks to admit that they just sort of missed that brain tomber the size of a tennis ball pulsating in his head, leading to his death the next month. sure, we have free healthcare, but I've been misdiagnosed 17 times in 15 years.

But if you like, break a leg, you just pop in the ICU, pay like 6 dollars for something or other, and then they patch you up. Same with surgery, you would NEVER have to pay for that. I mean, in some way you do pay, through taxes, but a small percentage of your salary every month is better than 10 000 dollars when something bad happens.

The problem here in England is the opposite; the NHS is too willing to offer treatments. People from the EU are perfectly able to hop over here, get free treatment, and then leave. The taxpayer, of course, foots this bill. The NHS are far, far overstretched as a result of this. Also, ridiculous shit like acupuncture, non-vital cosmetic surgery and IVF is paid for by the NHS, and again, we foot the bill.
I think we're on two opposing extremes, and both systems have their flaws.

I can't get my own medical insurance b/c of my bipolar, anxiety, add, PCOS(polycycstic ovarian syndrome) and my lapband surgery to counteract the CONSTANT weight gain from the PCOS, b/c they're all "pre-existing conditions". yet the government won't give me disability.
