@dayna57 I got really interested in reniassance when Assassins creed came about, its suprising howmuch a game can influence you, I would love to visit any part of italy!
Now thats sculpture! I hate those that are just a block with a whole in it and then people call it art. "Oh I was just trying to express my feelings" Fuck that, thats not art! This is!
What a treat this is. A project worthy of the great work of art it richly documents.... an appropriate summation of romantic ambitions.... the agony, ecstasy, striving, evolving spirit of the times.... each generation coping with the mysteries of passions felt, yearnings seeking fulfillment...
Enjoyed this video! Worth the half hour watch. If you're like me you'll learn quite a lot about sculpture in the 19th century, and it's actually pretty interesting!
wou! great work - amazing video, fascinating facts and wonderfull music. I found your work really excelent :) Thank you very much for sharing, I'm subscribing and I'm looking forward for your future works.
Outstanding analysis and commentary - I found the reference to Baudelaire's commentary on sculpture interesting - and its effect on Rodin's work. Thanks so much for this fascinating film!
i agree with argentdeus, excellent choice of music and i love the vid, very interesting and very informative. i liked it. thank you very much. im definitely subscribing.
I have learned so very much about Rodin's work through your video. It is a magnificent video, which is both beautiful and educational. Thank you for contacting me
I viewed his works in Philadelphia at the Rodin Museum. Your commentary is very appreciated. The door is awesome, and in keeping of our vision of Hell. The wages of sin is death. This shows the agony and separation from God.
Sculpture cannot fail if it carries a social message of it s time. Through the counterpoint of a painting, a social critic or poet; or even the very material of the sculpture, singly or in multitude. If the sculptor misses any of this, there cannot be the paradigm shift, only the meditation upon this; an inevitable status of any work~in~progress
Interesting, I would have considered even supporting your group "via paypal", only if those precious foreign cultural properties that French looted were returned to their home countury. But it's nothing to do with your video. But money can be political as that mentioned above
How threads of fate pulls us down through the various ways we intertwine our paths with others; everything stagnant and without Life; people thinking, pondering and seeking the right path; decisions made not in conformity with the Creative Law. Hence everything falls to the abyss. Those gifted, sculpting the ugliness forms created by man. Those guilty, intrigued by the uniqueness of the act not knowing it is a picture they emit. The mystery of sculpting. An act of deep intuitive perceiving.
Rodin was given to extreme theatrical gestures. It seems to me that his "second version" of the Gates of Hell may have been a reactionary statement to challenge the loss of the contract on the magnificent first version. Virtually all the figures missing from the door were displayed in monumental scale as freestanding masterpieces in the same exhibit.
Rodin was saying, "You tried to defame me by rejecting this composition, I have exceeded that rejection by the power of my creations."
