Oh my God, I went to see the Broadway show a month ago & when Rafiki started singing "Nants ingonyama bagithi Baba" I had tears on my eyes and people laughed staring at me like "what's wrong with you?" & I was like "fuck you all, it's my childhood & one of dreams is just coming true" DAMN IT, I'm 19 years old and I still crying every time I watch the movie, I love The Lion King, I know the lyrics of every song, and I'm a child again with this. BEST DISNEY MOVIE & BEST BROADWAY PRODUCTION EVER!
I got to see this in Cleveland and got backstage passes, and it was amazing. When all the animals gather, they march through the crowd, and to my delight I had an aisle seat! The wildebeest scene was spectacular, and the whole play fit perfectly to the story. I was happy that they often included the audience in the play, like Simba running from the back of the theater to the stage. It was truly amazing, and everyone should see it if they have the chance!
@littleladytomboy Saw it about 5 years ago, the price was 80-90 per person. The seats were pretty good, we were about 20 rows from the front. Price probably went up though :/
As I understand the publishing rights for the show are very strict, it would give an opportunity to see it even, when you can't see it in your own country.
Maybe should send that question to where the Disney people can see it better :=)
I try to comfort myself, that at-least I got (and will get) to see the Lion King on big screen, in cinema and in 3D.
But that comfort does not work. (although it was super great to see the Lion King in cinema, to hear the music from cinema speakers. So thank you, big hollywood guys, for that)
I so very much want to see that on stage. But for some weird reason they have brought all sorts of other Disney musicals to my country but not the Lion King.. And I don't get it.
I saw this in Vegas. I'm fifteen and I watched it has a younger kid... I was in TEARS when they sang the circle of life and all the animal kingdom came to gather around the rock. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I would see it again, but I think everyone should at least see it once.
Incredible. Me and my boyfriend went to see the film Lion King in the cinema and this was advertised and I said I'd love to go see it, And he took me for my 21st and it was amazing! I would love to see it again!
ive seen this in London and was very privillaged to see it on Broadway in NewYork.
Im 17 and was more excitied then the little kids also watching it.
Circle of Life sent Shivers down my spine and tears to my eyes, becusae the actress playing rafique is incrediably talanted in both singing and acting.
Such beautiful storytelling here, even in this small video. When I saw The Lion King in Vegas, the very start of Circle of Life brought tears to my eyes. William James (understudy for Simba, I think it was) wrote this: "It's my hope that you leave this show with more room in your heart for humanity and for our earth. For, we are all connected in the Circle of Life." For anyone who reads this, I encourage you to watch the show sometime before you die; it's awesome!
@potterrin90 your crazy!! I live in London so no problem for me :) its was my 1st theatrical play I went to but it is just so gripping and I agree with the other people, I had chills down my back because the musician and the singers were fantastico? is that how you say it in italiano? You will love it!!

Saw this today in the Lyceum Theatre in London. Absolutely overwhelming! Such an amazing show, the acting and voice work was astounding. Every time Rafiqi sang we were totally captivated. I can't recommend this show highly enough!
im going to see this soon in march... do i have to to know the story of the lion king first or can i just watch it even if i dont know the storyline? Plz help :)
I saw this show a couple a weeks ago in New York and I have to tell you it was Amazing and mesmerizing....we were on the front row and you could see every expression on their faces. The costumes and how they moved were unbelievable. We saw the Rockettes too, but they were pale in comparison to The Lion King. I was stunned by it all.
I have a question: what is the name of the actress who represent Adult Nala in this video? Adult Simba is Andile Gumbi but a lot of actress play that roll and she is not Carole Stennett, neither Heather Headley, neither Paulette Ivory... I think she is Gloria Onitiri but somebody can tell me who is? Thanks :)!
Simply nothing else could posibly compare to Lion King! If some one says what ever is the best (bless there lil hearts) theyeve not seen Lion King...!
I love love LOVE the incorporation of tribal African style and dance for the costumes! We aren't lions and giraffes. But this is a beautiful way to embody the animals on stage!
When a musical is so great that i start singing the lyrics at the top of my lungs and dancing like crazy, I call it a "musical orgasm." I just had about twenty of them.
@CoolasaCucumberBabe I can understand! The Lion King movies shaped me, and for some reason it took me years to see the play. And I cried :') It's so amazing. You'll love it! It will change your life!
@littleliondog I cannot wait! everyone in school is getting fed up of me telling them about it now! I will cry! Wow i am even more excited now! thank you x
I saw this just a few days ago in Denver for a school trip and I actually got to meet Zazu, then Simba and Nala just so happened to appear on our bus to meet us. Now, if only I met the woman that played Rafiki, now that would be AMAZING!!!
I'm literally sitting in my living room sobbing tears of wonder as I watch this. I have goosebumps and chills. I'm grinning ear to ear. I can barely speak. I feel like I've just touched a live wire. I'm burning up as I re-enter the atmosphere. I can't even begin to explain how amazing this is. It's too much spectacular wonderfulness compiled into one musical! I must go see this! To NYC away!! :)
THe best performance I have ever seen and I have spent endless days in NYC seeing broadway, but Disney's magic is so powerfull in all their productions. The african performers are so talented, so full of spirit and passion for the Lion King. From the very moment the woman steps out and her voice catches you off guard with it's power, you are drawn in for non stop power.
After watching this show live Disney's Beauty and the Beast on Broadway was a bad follow up and a big disappointment:| I think director Julie Taymor must have been the big difference between the two and she is a huge inspiration for me, I hope to make such amazing work someday.
Everyone should go and watch it :') It's so AMAZING. MAGIC.
