I feel that people who desire gay marriage are attempting to recieve the same legal rights as a heterosexual married couple as well as getting seen as a couple by the government. Supporters believe that they should get the right to marry who they love; they are not saying that by not getting married they are not allowed to love.. Never thought I would have to explain that to a gay person. LOL.

The problem with the argument "if you love someone and they love you back, you should marry them" is that it goes entirely against the nature of marriage. If that argument was valid, then why should we be against NAMBLA marrying boys with their consent?

@ItalianSEAL Well first off there's the factor of legal age. Interaction between consenting adults is quite different from the manner of interaction underscoring NAMBLA.

As for the former, I have nothing against any of these things whatsoever. The truth is that marriage was a covenant between people before it was ever a covenant of religion (which lessened it's worth, imho). If two or more individuals are solidly in a state of romantic love, why not allow them to cement legally?

@saurinfaddoul Infertility is not absolute... many declared infertile couples have had children, however, if they cannot, they can always adopt and represent the natural parents of the child. Those who do not want to have children is bit different and is problematic, however, I don't think we should worsen abusers of marriage by allowing homosexuals (who cannot by the nature of their actions) have children. To be honest, I think the biggest threat to marriage right now is divorce.
