I know exactly what you mean. "Disintegration" is also my favorite Cure song and I've always wondered why it was so hard to find a live version that could measure up to the album version. There was a pretty good version on a concert that I saw on PBS back in the mid 90's but this one actually sounds better.

One of the best parts of this song is how Robert sings frantically and spirals in despair.

Earrrrrrly live version, sooooo raw and impulsive! Nice how one can hear Boris's kick drum so well here too. Slick picture of the band as well!

The bass drum was an essential part of Boris' and The Cure's sound. Sadly, it's been lost nowadays where the drumkit can barely be heard. And if you get to hear it, it sounds like a set tupperwares and lots of bad sounding cymbals.
