for some reason I freaking love this kind of backdoor club setting for him. Much better than the full out band setting. Just a guitar a voice and an audience.
how have i missed this guy for so long? how long has he been around? i was watching "Accepted" on comedy central and his song let the drummer kick was on the final credits so i looked him up. he is friggin amazing!!!!
10-12-09 I WOULD HEAR THIS GUY HERE IN NY ON WDST RADIO. THOUGHT HE WAS AMAZING..& NEW!! I WENT 2 LOOK HIM UP ON THE 'NET' & READ HIS BIO...FROM THE SOUTH....
PLAYING A LONG TIME!! HE'S TOTALLY AN 'UNDERATED ARTIST.' I LOVE ALL HIS SONGS! THE 1ST I HEARD 'LET THE DRUMMER KICK'..WAS FROM A COMEDY FIILM SOUNDTRACK: "S.H.I.T. South Harmen Institute of Technology. (a make believe school 2 get wasted & girls! HILARIOUS!!! I HOPE HE ISN'T GOING AWAY..HE'S FAR TOO BRILLANT VOCAL+LYRICS!
There's nothing I love more, than to put on "D'artagnan' s Theme", turn it up all the way, then shoot up. I like the drug to kick in, just as he's singing this line: "Im buildin' this levee, by the Mississippi, or I'll ddddddddiiiiiiieeeee in an unmarked grave". I'm not gay, never sleep with a guy in my life. But I'd totally f*ck him if he'd just sing to me the whole time.
he's amazing live. his albums and even watching a video of him live doesn't show how amazing he sounds when you're right there experiencing it. he did a solo acoustic performance in my area recently and i can honestly say it was a very uplifting and amazing experience for me. true artistry.
The first time I ever heard this tune was the night before Halloween, and the sweetest girl that I have ever been with in my life took me home to her house and played "The Clarence Greenwood Recordings" on a loop and brought me back into what I can only describe as the closest thing to a self esteem that I have felt in a long, long while. She fell asleep, and I listened to these songs over and over again...and now... i just can't get enough!!! She gave me the brush, but I'm lovin life!!!
Check out the author Dumas. Wrote "The Man in the Iron Mask." Might explain the inspiration. Reading man, even better than it's worth.
