  • bravo! enfin une chanson en yiddish qui soit écite dans les cinquantes dernieres année!!

  • אשיינעם דאנק!

    יישר כח!

  • the lyrics are so attached to the song

a fabrik spirit... the machines are rolling...

    this is so authentic!

  • hi dennisses

googled the song "in fabrik" but cant find it. can u pleas write the full name of the song and of the original performer.

  • Song calls: "in fabrik" and was written by Mordechaj Gebirtig, which where killed during the war in 1942. so you should find it...

  • A wonderfull performance.Good band,great singer. More please.

  • Unfortunately, far too many people think leaving comments gives permission to be insulting, disrespectful and vulgar. Sad that people can't find respectful ways to give their comments. Then again, it says more about the own lack of maturity then anything else.

  • Sorry, I don´t like this. I have respect for this staging, but it´s so far away from the true spirit of Yiddish singing.... it doesn´t have it.

  • the performance is an exam for a school called 'Herman Teirlinck', it's not a normal performance. normally she sings dutch songs, but the teacher want to make it a bit harder on the students with foreign languages. more songs she sang, 1 in italian.. probably not perfect either, but I don't mind , she passed :)

  • You'd be surprised with the way Yiddush was used. I believe my grandmother had a book What Katy Did Next written in Yiddush. :)

  • it's hard to believe since the jewish songs are easier to sing and usually not in a chromatic way.

but you have to notice the piont here.

imagine your self in a fabrik (factory) and listen to the machinesand the tumult

    what do you say now...

  • I can but agree. Believe me, I appreciate the interest and the effort shown by a group of youngsters, but what it lacks is neshome. A shand far di goyim!

  • umm guys, maybe I should disable comments on this vid?

    stop the insults

  • Oooh that is a really smart thing for you to say.

What if I said something like, I wish the Serbs got you, how would that feel?

  • that would be very classic, serbians the homies man.

    fat jew! hahaha

  • Drop dead, fucked muslim, gib got di neshume!!

  • i'm german - an this is definitly too difficult to understand for me, more than other jiddisch songs on youtube.

  • personally this is not to my taste, however it is interesting and there's no need for those horrible comments.

  • I speak german and it definitely sound somewhat german to me. I can understand the sentence "Wenn du stehst bei die maschinen" or somethin like that.

  • Yiddish language is spoken and written in different ways, and so the variety in the spelling and accents.

  • It does not matter how its spoken or written, this is NOT Yiddish.

  • brecht weill? zehr weimar. oder melodie aus hanns eisler.

  • I wish the Jews would be like they should be and observe mitzvot, instead goyim are the ones who do that

  • This sounds more like German than Yiddish.....

  • are you really serious ? don't you know yiddish is at his main core a germanic dialect.

  • Of course Yiddish is from German, but as somebody who speaks both lang I can tell you that this sounds to me like German and not Yiddish.

  • If you say so !

  • You probably speak both languages better than I do, but it's worth noting that western Yiddish sounds a lot like German and not much like Eastern (Polish, Litvish, etc.) Yiddish.

  • I am aware of that. I can actually speak Yiddish with 3 different accents.

    This is not Yiddish.

  • i don't think that the song is about yiddish. It sort of transcends languege, the core of the song.

  • Els zingt mooi in yiddish! Sehr shein!

  • It is a little scary. That drving beat. Relentless. And she is too.

  • I am sure it is supposed to be scary. It's a vision of hell. I think it's a wonderful song and very well performed. I would still like to get the lyrics (I am a singer - Simon Prager). nismans replied before and I suspect he is the writer.

  • Does anyone know who is the singer? Els who? And what is the song and can one get the lyrics?

  • Els Peeters

The Jiddish song is 'In fabrik' I have the lyrics somewhere.

  • Thank you very much for that information. Where can I find out more? Is she from Belgium, Netherlands? If you find the lyrics I would love to see them. Who wrote the song?

  • she's from belgium, finishing her school at rudolf steiner institute. her name is Els Peeters
