this is a film about emotion, even with the action overtones, they're just to draw in an audience. they're spectacular, but the real focus is the emotion.

That is one of the things that makes this movie so poignant: the powerful juxtapostion of faster-than-you-can-see-action with slow and tender moments of restrained emotion. The two different moods set each other off spectacularly. Colour is also contrasted beautifully in this film, and of course the score contrasts 'cool' synthetic "sci-fi" tracks with 'warm' classical music.
