  • The video keep's glitching out and I cant see what you are doing on some parts :(

  • Anyways I really don't have time to keep responding to your comments, every minute counts!

  • I do keep track my hours. To be a master in something they say you need 10k hours. well without a doubt I am a master with udk on the art and creative side. Am not bragging you took that the wrong way in the interview, that was just to let people know that I was series about this game that is under development.

  • I said I have 10,000 hours in the unreal engine alone. I have about 4 to 5,000 in 3dmax alone, not to mention photoshop which I am sure I have more hours in than 3dmax, and more.

  • @welge8 u have a clocking in system or something?

    :D

dude stop counting hours it does not mean anything, games art is an art, its all about how good you are in art, and some ppl where borne with talent, some ppl will never have it. and by having 10k hours in udk or whatever, wont change a thing.

  • @Ehh, well experience changes many things, and even though modeling and animating and etc is art, it can still be practiced and let you expand on your skills. Not to mention also that having lots of experience will let you learn things that are good for your trade. But you're right, he should stop counting. It's not about bragging rights here.

  • @ChineseEngineer that is very true to, its of course important to have experience, because when i said about if you a good artist you will do good, you would still defiantly will need allot of practice before you can reach the right level, but yeah 3d is not about braging, companies dont like ppl who are self centred and who say "ohh im the best in what i do" you need to be modest, and take every opportunity you can get to improve.

  • @uhgamemaker and to finish i must say to MR Welge here is that hes skill is defiantly not "beginer" and he could defiantly get a job if he would set himself good goals, like this game you are making "zombie" stuff, i looked at it and its showing u spent allot of hours on making it, but of course it doesn't look good enough to go on the shelves because u set an impossible task to yourself, you cant replace 100ds of ppl on your own and make a game

  • @uhgamemaker and set yourself a realistic goal, instead of making an entire FPS game, make a small level that would look amazing, on the level with BF3 or Gears of war or any new generation game, and use it as your portfolio and get a good job in game industry, unfortunately earlier in my life i got cough up on similar projects where i was told" ohh alex we making that film" (at the time i was more 3d animation based) and we want you to work with us, we got no money, buut we gona be faimouse

  • @uhgamemaker and in the end i spent hours on something that was never good enough for portfolio or for sell, and its really bad thing to get in to :(, but saying that its still good that hes working and practising, and i hope for the best for you my friend, and frankly i understand where you coming from, and some ppl dont like to be told, but still have a look at EA or Ubisoft, go on careers see what they want, there is tons of ppl needed atm, and see if you could apply, and get a good job

  • @uhgamemaker Lol you are right he has like a stopwatch, like i am going to work in udk and then he turns on the stopwatch. lol

  • Sorry but, when will you upload new tutorials ??

  • @MasterYoda1400 im realy sorry, i have some work at the moment, but ill try to get to it in next few days, Ill be back soon, promiss ;)

  • Well america operates different completely. So I guess we can both agree on than what each of us are talking about.

  • am not worried man. I have a legal company now called Panzer Gaming Studios. Business school is paying off for sure. I have raised the ten thousand dollars to attend E3 through sponsors, in a creative way, and considering we have the most realistic zombies that you will ever see in game right now. Like I said am not worried, and neither are my team members who work for free.

  • @uhgamemaker LOL considering man I picked up udk 2 years ago a 2 weeks to be exact, and already have ten thousand hours, and being told in my school I have had one of the strongest portfolios that they have seen in a long time, and also being invited to E3, from E3 I say I know a lot. But I do agree with you talking about everyone that goes to school doesn't mean they will get a job. My school has a grad rate of 26 percent, and we learned online.

  • @welge8 thats the problem that UDK is not the thing that companies will look for, what they do look for is your skill in making static meshes, what you showed me is ok, but its not good enough to get a job these days, have a look at my video on "how to get a job in game industry" and take a look at the showreels on Vimeo, just tipe in games showreel, and that is what you need to do, 1.5 minute maximum and all you want to show is your models, into texts and no lingering the same object for ever

  • @welge8 have a look at the my old reel which is in my new video, and take a look at my 3d models that i made, which are there as well, this is the sort of level you need to try to get to to get a junior job in any 3d industry, so yeah don't give up. ohh and don't do characters, its waste of time, do lots of environment objects:buildings, weapons, vehicles. cause its to hard to get a job in making characters. good luck man, and i hope you cool down and i could give you some more tips if you need

  • @welge8 ohh and about your school saying you are one of the best portfolios, ill be honest with you, you have a good base, but you need much more, what school did you attend? cause 90% of the schools teach you nothing, and dont give you any connections with the industry, unlike some schools(such as the one im in) have a great deal of connections, each year we have a final show, where companies come over and look at our work and recruit straight after graduation, but in the end its all up to you

  • Um your an idiot. One I don't know what videos you have been looking at but that is wrong. 2 I have never applied for a modeling job. I do not want to model, I want to be a level Designer, also my animation skills are sick. Your supposed to apply for the one area you are good at, and with 10,000 hours in unreal i say am good. But am not worried about it, I have over 6,000 pre sales on the game I am currently developing plus am getting my MBA in Business. Not worried an they can al kiss my ass.

  • @welge8 dont argue about things u not know of, but hey 1 i noticed u r american and im in UK so i guess things work diferent there. 2 the way companies in UK work is this, 1 you get a job as a runner or a junior 3d artist ant what you would be doing is building envioronment meshes which you can bearly see in the game or in some companies like fronteer which made this kenekts pet game, my friend worked there over summer, you would have to build small sections or rooms of the game

  • @welge8 and you progress as you go along, and 3 NEVER make out that your work is so amazing, NEVER, this is the stupidest thing you could do, go on polycount or 3dtotal, and see how many ppl are waaay beyond your skill and ability, untill you worked in the industry, u are shit same , as me, same as anyone else, because if you would be good, you wouldn't be jobless, trust me i guarantee.

  • @welge8 and about your personal project show me what you got, and ill give you a honest critiq, and all tho you have realy bean rood towards me, i still interested in having a look at what you are working on, and would be happy to help in some way ;)

  • @welge8 ohh and yeah it does work the way you said, you apply for things you like doing but there are, animators, there are riggers, but i have never heard of a job where you just sit in UDK and put shit together, well there is but things like lighting artist, or vfx, or things like thay, and that is definatly not a job you can get in to that easy, if you say you sick in animation, make an animation reel, you wana build levels, well then you need to be a 3d artist m8 ;) good luck, stop hating ;)

  • @welge8 Dude i know you from lukes interview, you are the ceo of panzer games. Dude do you say that you have 10k hours in UDK to everyone, you were in the interview like not to brag but i have 10k hours so i am good, here you say you are good lol

  • @Doronsmovies i was actually interested in that 10k hours thing as well, so i made some calculations, so 10k / 24 = 416 days, so basically to get so many hours in UDK he had to work for more then a year without sleep or breaks every single day... sounds a bit unreal, and another thing i was wandering, how did he managed to calculate it all :D ohh well...

I must say from my experience, is that the time dosent mater, some pick it up in 10 years some in a month, its all about your dedication

  • @uhgamemaker well said

  • Why lie man, if you know anything about the industry experience speaks over skill right now, because ith experience comes skill. Guys I have my B.A Degree in video game art and Design and I cannot get hired, and I have over ten thousand hours in the unreal engine alone. So don't listen to this egg head here telling you its easy to get in. The Economey has effected everyone.

  • @welge8 man, no-one said its going to be easy, but i looked at your channel, and the reason why you didn't get hired is because you need allot of improvement to do, all tho knowledge of game engines is really important, more important is you skill in 3d modelling, game industries don't care if you have a degree or not, all they care about is that you can keep up with modern days standards as unfortunate as it sounds

  • @welge8 about your B.A in my university there are 120 ppl joining every year and only 20 of them would get jobs, because these 20 will work really hard on things that important, and other 100 think that thay get job automatically by just getting good a degree, you always need to improve, and aim high, in order to get a job say on assassins creed you need to be able to make models better then in assassins creed, or the companies wont even look at you :( and most important make a showreel

  • what tool did you use to smooth it

  • Awesome tutorials man! You work a little fast tho =))

  • @EverthingsApple sorry, i was trying to do it as slow as i could, but then i had to speed it up cause otherwize it would take hours to watch, but not to worry, this is just a first try, im going to do much simpler tutorials in future, so evryone will be able to keep it up

  • @uhgamemaker I totally understand. You are doing a good job as this stuff is a little more complex for beginners to take on. Will you just be covering the designing aspect of making a game or will you be covering animation and coding etc?

  • @EverthingsApple yeah ill do a bit of animation and coding in later stage, um first need to cover the actual design part so there will be something for you guys to animate.

  • @uhgamemaker Thanks a lot, i get it. Appreciate the tutorials and keep them coming. I will help promote this series to fellow beginners in this field.

  • @EverthingsApple thank you very much my friend,.

  • @uhgamemaker can you take a gun out of like bf2 and put it into your game???? and if so can you make a tut for it plzz and thank you.

  • @joe9999999ful well you cant get from BF3 perse, but what you can do is use the meshes that the engine provids you with, but i would not recomend this path, cause this is the diference betwene tro game artist, and just someone who wants to get it the easy way, but yeah im coming back next wee with plenty of tutorials, and will include that topic as well ;)

  • When downloading it it will ask me if I'm a pro or a student then it asks for a lot of information.

  • @chocolateit put student ;)

  • What do I list myself to get 3ds max. Pro or student?

  • @That8BitGamer what do you mean?

  • great stuff :)

  • cool!!! man Im just a begiener go 3D MAX but I like it))

  • -> continue

: My question if it isnt secret, what games (commercial/free) did u make?

Sorry for my english these 2 comments :D

  • @yokozuna404 I haven't made any commercial games yet, :) I'm just a student in university, doing games art, I have done some freelance ,helped out with some iphone games, and some for Facebook, but nothing serious, I'm might get a job this summer, and well, but atm no time for work :( unfortunately

and about the first question, i made this tutor just so everyone can do same as i do and see if they can make anything, but ill come back to more basic modelling part once I will show some UDK ;)

  • I dunno if it is just on my machine but from some 9th minute, video has a lots of artifacts. Btw, I think you shouldnt make a tutorials for absolute beginners. On youtube ,there are hundreds of basic tutorials, so maybe you just should to link some in your video. This bit advanced tut is good, coz you IMHO shoudnt make a vids for 3dsMax but for making games, so beginners should to watch tutorials for 3dsmax and then your tutorials, coz making game is wide range, not just modeling-> next comment

  • nice vid man keep it up
