  • someone left a turbo upfront :)

  • I think it's just rattling heat shields. Try removing them.

  • @vastdesign not really. The sound was still there. Not as audible but still there. Ive heard it with just about every exhaust setup with hfcs or TPs

  • it's a Japanese engine....made to rev......you cant rev it above 3600?

  • hey dude so the sound went away after you did your exaust? i put megan pipes and it makes the same noise..

  • it was still there but it was hardly noticeable. a friend pointed it out to me. i've resonated and non-resonated TPs and HFCs cause that sound. Somebody mentioned wrapping the y-pipe.

  • I passed emissions this past year with flying colors on stock exhaust, headers, and megan racing test pipes. You don't pass emissions when you change the tuning of the car such as shoving more fuel and air into and out of the engine. I have to say these test pipes are alot less raspy than megan racing test pipes.

  • UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE! I just put on an XO2 True Dual exhaust and the noise is completely gone....The exhaust is loud but the noise is gone. FTW

  • @themajesticking Do you think it is from the wider Test Pipe going into smaller diameter Y pipe? Since your new exhaust got rid of sound this is my only guess. I have Test pipe with stock exhaust and have the same rasp. It's kind of loud under heavy excelleration.

  • it's not the rasp I'm referring to. It's the hissing sound

  • Thats rasp dummy

  • What are you an internet thug? It's not rasp idiot. The noise is rattling the exhaust. I know what rasp sounds like. There are two different sounds. People are calling it rasp but it's not. The rasp is what you hear when the revs are going up. Especially around 2800rpm. The sound appears to be coming from the Y-pipe.

  • @themajesticking

It's not rasp. For my understanding it has to do with the cylinder firing order. I can hear it faintly with my OEM cats. All the VQ engines with test pipes make this noise. Nothing much you can do about it bro. Sorry

  • @footballmania132. yeah I've heard it very very faintly on the stock exhaust but test pipes amplify it. I've since purchased a g37 now and it has the same sound but very very faint. My wife's 2010 maxima does it too. It looks like it's a VQ thing.

  • ur gonna get rasp from the test pipes and i beleive these are not even resonated....plus u have a stock cat back on so its gonna make it more noticable...high flows are the way to go imo

  • Right on. At least you'll still pass emissions then.

  • Just passed emissions with this setup and my X02.

  • Someone once told me that it's the exhaust gases mixing... but I don't know if that's true. So far that's the only explanation I've heard, good luck.

  • Why would you even install test pipes in the first place? Is all the rasp and pollution worth the extra few hp?

  • yup ^___^

  • rasp is the flex pipes
