  • Bloody History of the US/West <---watch it,USA killed much more than Stalin did,ALSO,Stalin was more like a fascist communist,I MUST REMIND YOU,COMMUNISM ISNT WHAT STALIN DID.

  • I dont like Stalin because he was almost as bad as hitler but lennin was a genius

  • according to my grand mother, she says that during Stalin times it wasn't that bad...

yes, maybe she was pretty young (born 1927)... but still she has older cousins and sister (Bro died in WW2).. and i think they agree with her..

but idk what to say about stalin... the only thing that the strategy of "Go to the war or die" is good... cause otherwise USSR would lose the war..

  • I'm in the vote for Stalin was a brutal awful leader and should definitely not be recognized as a great leader. Yes he did expand the Soviet economy greatly but at a very high price. I'm sure we all know the Ukrainian famine of 1932, having nearly 10 million starve to death along with many purges. Overall Stalin claimed much more victims than Hitler. Comparing Hitler and Stalin, if Stalin were to be voted second greatest Russian, then Hitler should be voted second greatest German

  • "to misery and slavery under Josef Stalin" Who the hell are you to say that?

Are you Russian, have you lived under Stalins era?

Stalin is the east's most beloved man, so who the hell are you the american to say that!?

Stalin was the greatest leader in Soviet times, he changed Soviet to the better.

So who the hell is the american across the sea to say something about him.

Nor have you experienced, nor have you lived, nor have you family which has experienced.

  • @gaikokujinNor

You're right, Lord Ad Hominem. We should burn every history book that diverges from your opinion, and that of your fellow Stalinists. Only the Soviet propaganda of the times should be listened to, and paid any voice.

I've already admitted that this was a flawed video, made in less than in an hour and under conditions of extreme boredom.

By the way, I am half-Russian, I do know many Russians, and not a single one of them shares your opinion of Stalin.

  • @Ryanfarrick my Opinion? It is the peoples opinion.

No no, your movie was great, but the content was misinformative, thats all.

But what has the peoples opinion with Soviet propaganda? or burning books.

It's not "my" opinion on Stalin, as already said, Stalin was chosen as the second greatest person of all time (in the east)

  • @gaikokujinNor

He was chosen as the second greatest person in Russian history, yes. That poll was conducted by a media outlet, did not reach every person in Russia, and was conducted in such a way as to allow a single person multiple votes. Looking at the monuments and memorials to those who died in the Gulags and realizing how many Soviet lives could have been saved had Stalin acted against Hitler sooner, it is obvious that he was a flawed leader.

  • @gaikokujinNor

Do I think that the West has over-exaggerated the reach of Stalin's crimes? Yes, I do. That's why I had planned on doing a re-make of this video, so I could be more balanced, thorough, and neutral. I just haven't had the time yet.

  • @Ryanfarrick Everyone has flawes. (correct Flawes?)

To be honest I support Gulag, Criminals deserve hard punishment! Not Television and PS3.

About the voting, how it was conducted etc, I don't know, but the Vote Stand for itself, and so does the opinion of the people.

About the war, it is true, He could have acted faster, but they had a peace agreement.

And Stalin didn't wan't to "start" a war, not before it struck them.

and you know politics, you cant always choose the best option.

  • @gaikokujinNor

    40 million russians are desposible.

  • @Zeip343 What do you mean?

if you are stupid and talking about the "death number", like most stupid americans.. Then the number you mean are 350.000.

  • @gaikokujinNor

stalin killed 40 million russians, just accept it for fuck's sake

  • @Zeip343 One question; Do you have an impaired cognitive functioning?

It is well established and documented, both from the US! and the Soviet Union Stalin killed 350.000.

All evidence there is proves he killed 350.00 (+-).

Second; It is *impossible* for Stalin to kill more than 1 million, The population increase, and the generell population number proves there wasn't even 1 million murdered by the government through the entire Soviet time.

One question; when did you get your degree in history?

  • @Zeip343 Compared to what USA did Stalin is a saint.

  • how could you mention the winter war with finland and not invasion and split of poland between hitler and stalin? that's a far more important historical fact than the war with finland. far far more.

  • what song is this?

  • @mandalore1000 it0s the international, sort of an anthem of socialism and communism. originally in french i think, it was translated to many languages, of which the russian version is understandably the most famous.

  • Anyone who thinks 1.2 million people died in the purges is retarded.

  • @acmilan93333

only ~1060k died in all prisons of USSR by ALL causes 1934-1953, including natural ones.

    Its a DOCUMENTED fact

    northstarcompass. org/nsc9912/lies. htm

  • USSR=EPIC FAIL

  • @Sponxic u fail dubble!

  • @PunkRune1 USSR is gone now. It's never coming back. It only exists in your wet dreams

  • can i just say that there has never been a true marxist communist society and there never can be. (i am communist and do not belive the USSR to be the evil monster that th US made it out to be as in some cases they where just as bad or even worse)

  • @theworldisyettobe the us has NEVER killed MILLIONS of people or tried to take over their life and control them

  • @andieatscandy no what about the Vietnam war? or Horoshima Nagasaki? the native americans? and as for the controling people your goverment pumps out more propaganda than any other country other than china and north korea/ but its okay because you are all doing it for oil sorry i mean democarcey

  • @theworldisyettobe u.s. has never kiled millions..& also those were wars with other countries they have never illed millions of our own just becuase of their opinions of the government we have freedom of speech & btw im not even from the us i just live here and just so you know oil? reallly??? did u know dat ther is an oil field in canada with enough oil to power the WHOLE WORLD for 100 years??? the reason we want the oil from other countries is becuase its cheaper 2 get it out. dumbass

  • @andieatscandy did not say in every case you are the same and as for getting oil from other country just because it is cheaper to get out that stil dosent make bullying other countrys right (canda is another country "dumbass") and as for your freedom of speech the vietnam war started because the US goverment didnt want elcetions in south vietnam because they feared they would not vote for who they wanted so holted the elcetions. the North vietnamise where actualy the ones fighting for democracey

  • @andieatscandy The U.S has certainly caused at least a million deaths over seas and onshore. As for your freedom of speech, the U.S has some of the worst media in the world, with many of your mainstream news channels being blatant right-wing propaganda. When any actual reporting is done, and the U.S is exposed as the killing machine it is, they quickly lable that person a terrorist and do everything they can to have him killed.

  • @andieatscandy

In Vietnam alone USA slaughtered about 3,5 mln people and even used CHEMICAL WEAPONS on Vietnameese people

    watch?v=5LctoUV-tag

I can go on forever counting millions of people USA killed in 20th century alone

    academic. evergreen. edu/g/grossmaz/interventions. html

  • @MarshallJukov yeah IN VIETNAM. the us never killed millions of THEIR OWN! and sure we have ALOT commercials and stuff but we never took away the right of freedom of speech. here we arent killed over just what we think or say. read animal farm

  • @andieatscandy

People are PEOPLE - does not matter where you kill them. You are such a racist who thinks that value of human life can be different depending on anything? And please don`t tell me crap - millions of native Americans where killed and enslaved, millions of blacks where humiliated, during great depression alone at least 7 millions died.

And sorry nobody in USSR killed anybody for what they think or say and thats not any kind of millions.

Just read article i alreay posted below

  • russias stupid

  • marx had a lot of good ideas...but stalin was a tyrant who perverted everything socialism could've been and turned it into a nightmare.

  • @TheTollundWoman Stalin wanted power, like most politicians. leninist communism was good

  • @TheMadMoravian

Nope he didn`t wanted power - he tried to RESIGN at least 3 times 1924-1927 alone!

Stalin actualy was most democratic leader of Russia ever

    clogic. eserver. org/2005/furr. html

    clogic. eserver. org/2005/furr2. html

  • @TheTollundWoman effing a, the closest it ever came after that was in '63 between kruschev and kennedy, if they had remained in power/lived (respectively) who knows, we might not live in a complete shithole of a world today. but then again, i know they never would've been allowed to make the peace, the military industrial complex and the intelligence and big bussiness interests would never have allowed kennedy to make the changes he was going to make, and w/o both of them, it wouldn't happen

  • As another notice, I'm actually going to make several videos, focusing on the Russian Revolution, the Bolshevik Revolution, the early years of the Soviet Union, the late 1920s - 1930s, and the mid-30s (Purges, Plans, etc) to World War II.

This version will remain up and working, though it should be noted that I have admittedly learned much more about the Soviet Union since October of 2009. I'll try to keep things as balanced as possible.

    Thanks for the helpful comments.

  • Edgar, my sympathies lie with the Russian people. I don't believe that there was a single thing "wrong" with the Revolution, though the Soviet Union morphed into something ugly over time.

I don't know if your comment was directed at me or that other guy, by the way.

Due to feedback I've received over the last year, I'm going to rework this video some time tomorrow, segmenting it more thoroughly, devoting an entire portion to the Revolution. This version will remain up.

  • What an ugly lie this anti-communist film is. Do you believe that revolution was made to produce pyramids of deaths? Never asked how it could happen that those making revolution for being free and living without feudalist/capitalistic sclavery do the opposite they want? ANYTHING you know about communism and hear here is wrong. The death people they speak about are the death of the Western Invasion in USSR, the civil wars of feudalists supported by the west.

  • sweet I am writing a book set in 1937 soviet union, this helps a lot!! Thanks for the great video

  • @IAmMediocreAtBest In fact: Ready to use lies are important for you to sell your book. What capitalist publishing house would publish something positive about revolution ....

  • "There is something wrong with a regime that requires a pyramid of corpses every few years."

    George Orwell

  • @vanderbilt887 Again a victim of anti-communist propaganda ! Ask you why your history teacher did not tell you about the invasion of troups of the so-called "ENTENTE" (virtually all western countries) in the young USSR ! They also did deliver money and weapons to the old tzsarists and militarists and made a war against the government and the people because they hate revolution. Easy to sell you a "pyramid of corpses" as the death of the "regime".

  • @edgar0001

Again the standard rhetorical reply you people have whenever the facts of history which aren't in your favor are mentioned. Ask yourself whenever these facts are mentioned, you *always* - without exception - immediately divert the attention to western crimes instead of addressing the crimes of Stalin-Russia.

As it so happens, I don't have a 'history teacher', my only teacher is history itself.

  • I've never met a proponent of Communism who actually lived under the system they have a fetish for.

  • God save the Tsar! Communism was a dark cloud for russia, the sun finally came trough in 1991.

  • @joyann1 In this dark cloud we made first flliight in space and build atomic bomb

  • Comment removed

  • @joyann1

Are you an idoit or an idiot?

USSR had first; object, animal, man, woman, spacewalk (man & woman) and first space station in space. I thik YOU have to learn some history before going online pertending to be someone

  • capitalism is great if you got capital if not its the same old shit gold rules

  • the issue with Stalin's industrialization is that it was basically an industrial revolution in a decade...

  • communists for ever!

  • @frellthat

You're also quick to condemn (or at least insinuate) me as an anti-communist, even though I'm actually a socialist, and was a communist up until about half a year ago. I still have a hammer-and-sickle tag in the background on my YouTube page.

I'm sorry that I didn't lengthen the video by about 10 minutes, talking about the economic set-up of the Soviet Union. Hate to break it to you, but most "normal" people don't really care too much.

  • @Ryanfarrick Most normal people don't make propaganda videos either. You say you "were" a Communist, but as you aren't now, that hardly changes anything I've said, does it?

  • @frellthat

If we're continuing to operate under the assumption that I did indeed create a "propaganda" video, then no, it doesn't change anything. But if accusing me of making videos antagonizing a country which has been dissolved for nineteen years, and of bashing a movement of which I was formerly a part of... Well, if that makes you feel good about yourself, then by all means, keep the accusations coming.

You have yet to say anything particularly crushing.

  • I don't see how you can take offense at my having "insinuated" that your video is "anti-Communist" when every single thing it says about Communism is negative. There is no mention in the video of anything remotely positive about Communism or the Soviet Union, the achievements that were made, etc. You jump right from 1917 to Stalinist genocide.

  • Furthermore, the fact that you were once a Communist does not mean that your video cannot be anti-Communist propaganda, especially since you have said that you no longer agree with Communism. Your past views would seem to be a red herring, except for the fact that there is nothing quite like the zeal of the convert.

  • @Ryanfarrick shame on you, you were a communist, ignorant.

  • whats the music? ive heard it everywhere but it never fucking says what this is

  • The Purge was a nessecary thing. Purges when a new government is installed is what makes it able to stand without opposition. It has happened in so many countless countries that today are the greatest in the world. The US is an exception due to the unique circumstances it was under. Stalin was a ruthless person, but his actions had reason behind them. The purges might have been taken out of hand, but they were not without cause.

  • You're the first person I've ever seen actually stupid enough to try to *defend* Stalin.

  • @Ryanfarrick I'm not defending him. Quite honestly he was not Satan incarnate as people thing. My points in my first comment are justifiable, but you seem to think that anything remotely close to explaining why the purges happen makes me defending Stalin. Also, keep the insults to yourself if you want people to take you seriously.

  • Then please explain to me how the Purges were justified? Killing hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people in the name of "communism"? That seems rather counter-productive, if you ask me.

Considering that communism is supposed to be in the best interests of the workers. I dunno about all those peasants, but being dead isn't in *my* list if interests.

Part of the reason the USSR suffered so badly in WWII is because Stalin purged all the experienced commanders and officers.

  • @Ryanfarrick

    But it was badass, yes?

  • @hissanrach

Stalin was just as bad as Hitler and worse.

  • @1969JohnLennon1969 Stalin wasn't an angel, we all know that. But he DID do good things, despite the bad. If you ask me what, consult a history book not printed in the US.

  • @Hissanrach

If you ask me what, i think you're a spineless coward standing up for a bunch of prick assholes. The United States has done just fine in a Capitalist environment and it sure as hell was better than the shithole USSR. You are a disgrace to the German people

  • @1969JohnLennon1969 You wouldn't be saying that if we in the US still had the kind of raw, exploitative capitalism we had 150 years ago when Marx was alive. It only looks justifiable today because of all the gains that have been made by the (socialist) labor movement over the years. If not for that, most people would still be working 72-hour weeks on subsistence wages and education, healthcare, etc. would be simply out of the question for the majority of workers.

  • @frellthat Marx was an idiot in every aspect.

  • Hitler did good things for Germany at first. Doesn't mean that he's worthy of respect.

  • @Ryanfarrick @Hissanrach lolwut? so the ends DO justify the means??? OH BOY. ETHICS BE DAMNED.

  • @psibyrion

I hope you're not talking to me. If you are:

    "Cultural Dictionary

    sarcasm definition

"A form of irony in which apparent praise conceals another, scornful meaning. For example, a sarcastic remark directed at a person who consistently arrives fifteen minutes late for appointments might be, Oh, you've arrived exactly on time!

    "

  • good video,i just wish that those idiots would keep there ideas to them selves,if you don't have anything good to say don't say it.don't start stuff that doesn't need to be started.

  • What, is that supposed to hurt my feelings, considering that I'm not a communist?

  • he signed a non-aggression pact with Germany and Japan mmmmmmmmmmmmm ok.

  • I guess somebody doesn't understand the meaning of the phrase "A History of...". A history of something would entail the detail of it.

Unfortunately for the Soviet Union, Stalin did indeed sign a nonaggression pact with the Axis powers. That would be included in the history of the Soviet Union, which this movie is about.

Think before making stupid assumptions. Or before posting useless comments.

    Whichever one that one was.

  • haha sorry commented to fast.

  • Stalin wasn't communist, he was a facist.

  • Care to tell me anything else that I already know?

Or would you like to deny that the fate of communism as a global movement was directly intertwined with that of the Soviet Union?

  • Very nice educative video !!!

It just won my super 5star-add-sub-combo

    Keep them coming !

  • Simply enjoyed reading your comments, my friend. Well done! Thanks a lot from me and my friends, who were born in the USSR and know the truth about those good times, which we miss dearly.

  • @Leila8able

You miss those times because you know of nothing better.

  • Very good video, I am pleased to see that you used a song other than the Soviet National Anthem. 5/5, and I am subscribing good job!

  • in favour of your correct version of the truth, as you most certainly seem to be quite unbiased in your knowledge and commenting. As the Italians say, Grazie a mille!

  • Listen all I am saying is that your information about Stalin in this video, although very popular and commonly believed, is still not accurate in the way you show it.

I know you don't agree, and I am not acusing you of "spreading lies" or anything like. But just because most people believe in something dosent make it true at all.

And the only point I am trying to make is that simply put, your information about Josef Stalin IN THE WAY IT IS PRESENTED is not acurate. Otherwise it's a good video.

  • Jack, that comment was directed at you, it was directed at somebody else.

I'm not going to give you the same sarcastic response I gave to TrueCommunism, because you're not being an ass in the way that you're trying to get your message across. Simply put, if you have any information that may be of use, and have sources to back it up (I.E., official documents or whatnot, not just random sites), I will happily add in something to the video to correct wrong information.

    Thanks.

  • amount of intelligence in an absolute sea of lunacy. You, sir, are my island, and I would like very much to consult you on all further Soviet-related issues and questions that I may have in the future. I shall from this point further disregard the memoirs of Khrushchev and Gorbachev, ignore the crimes visited upon my family during the Russian Civil War, and discount the personal experiences of friends near and dear,

  • I WAS BORN IN THE USSR. My grandparents, parents, me are the best documents of what was going during t`Soviet times & with all responsibility I say: WE RESPECT STALIN - he destroyed ONLY the enemies of the State, who demoralized the youth, DURING THE SOVIET TIMES PEOPLE LIVED SAFE & PROSPERED.

My family, my friends r proud 4 our history! & please don`t believe that bloody democracy, which poures shite on Soviet Times. Watch the video of Stalin`s funeral - that was all-people deep sorrow here.

  • Yeah.

Stupid, lying Khrushchev. He was such a tool of the West.

  • delve so deeply into that show that there was, in fact, no real significant number of deaths that resulted from the Great Purge, and that this was a fiction, or perhaps simply an exaggeration of the truth.

Kindest regards to you, and as always, thank you ever so much for the kind, helpful comments. It is said that putting things forward gently and tactfully achieves the best results this, you most certainly accomplished. Kudos to you for displaying a remarkable

  • , including my personal friends born in the Soviet Union, seem to agree with my perverted little version of history.

So I do await your response greatly, and anticipate the new, ground-breaking evidence that shall rock not only myself, but the entire historical community to the core, proving that Josef Stalin was, in fact, a benevolent dictator, innocent of crime, and spreader of joy throughout the Soviet land. I shall be very much interested to see which Kremlin archives

  • there these days! I daresay that the ignorance portrayed by both myself, and as a result, in this video, did at least give a few helpful tidbits of information to those that previously lacked it. Sadly, from comments posted both here, that I have received via e-mail the last few months, and from various phone conversations, it does not appear that my view on Soviet history is very defunct, as you say oddly enough, it actually appears that the majority of people,

  • To reiterate a wee bit and back-track to the subject of my video being reminiscent of the filthy capitalists lies shown on Western television channels, therefore making it devoid of educational information and content, I simply say to wish this: in case it perhaps slipped the notice of a keen observer, the targeted demographic of this video was not actually those with a textbook-perfect knowledge of Soviet history, but those without, and it does seem to me that there are quite few ignorant out

  • In the future, I will be much more attentive to every little detail if you would like, I can put together a bit of a research paper, with information for every single sentence, and send it to you, just so that you may read it over and point out my mistakes. If youre interested, send me your e-mail address: Im sure well have a lovely correspondence.

  • I am a man, and mistakes are made in all aspects of life, this video not being exempt from it. As a result, yes, I do suppose that some of the pictures may not have been from the correct era I compiled this video in a bit of a rush, and due to the fact that I myself am not a Sovietologist and simply a common man, mistakes were made. Deepest apologies, I was not aware that aforementioned mistakes so greatly altered the accuracy of the video.

  • Firstly and most foremost, I am most disappointed that you find my video, and its content, to be as devoid of educational material as the average History or Discovery Channel show on the subject more heartbreaking yet is the comparison to Fox! Thanks to your most helpful comment, I shall, in the successive sequel to this video, make a point of citing my sources. In the meantime, I will happily replace this video with correct information, provided that you, who seeks to correct me, can giv

  • it to me; through the research I have done (And yes, I did do quite a bit, not just for this video), I have found a reoccurring theme, both in Western and Eastern versions of history, of massive death tolls during the Stalin era, along with, oddly enough, stories and accounts of political prisoners and others being forced to work in Gulags, put to death, etc.

Yet I do not seek to be known as the purveyor of pure truth and gospel that work is best left to others.

  • You also don't mention the fact that as soon as the Russian people were rid of Stalin, they (though Communists) tore down all his monuments, freed all prisoners in the gulags and renamed Stalingrad back to Volgograd because they hated him so much. You don't mention the fact that Nikita Kruschev denounced him in front of the Politburo as a monster and a dictator. You seem to connect Stalin with Communism and ignore all the evidence that committed Communists were against him the whole time.

  • @frellthat

Of course I didn't mention that. Because, located in the title of this video is (1917-1945), signifying that this is only covering the history of the Soviet Union up until 1945. And Stalin didn't die until 1953, with Nikita Khrushchev delivering his "Secret Speech" soon thereafter.

Please apply common sense to arguments before attempting to make one.

  • @frellthat THATS BECAUSE STALIN WAS A ASSHOLE GEORGIAN DEGENERATE NOT EVEN LENIN LIKE HIM

  • @klera2

Not even Lenin liked him??? Don't make me laugh, the main reason for his ellection is that Lenin indicated him for the seat.

Georgian asshole? Are you a racist? A nazi??? You should read the works of Lenin before speaking such excrescencies, specially the parts where Lenin recommended him for the post of General Secretary and what Lenin written on racism!

  • @Corvusdotensis Why would I be a racist or Nazi your fucking retarded I AM NOT A FASCIST NAZI OR A BIGOT RACIST so fuck you, you have no idea what your talking about LENIN DID NOT LIKE STALIN, STALIN FLIRTED WITH LENIN'S WIFE you fucking dumbass

  • @frellthat

Very good point, comrade Ryan. Let me just remember Frellthat that the charges of Nikita Khruschov were FAKE! There is a very good book from Professor Grover Furr, who studied cautiously the accusations of Khruschov, about that. I suggest you to visit his page. Marshal G. Zhukov, also denounced the lies of Khruschov at his memories, concerning Stalin and the war.

The XX Congress of CPUS RUINED the communist movement, splitting it and submiting USSR to USA imperialism.

  • @frellthat

While more than half of Russians see Stalin as a positive character, even after dozens of years of anti-communist propaganda, they see Khruschov as a negative character. Mihail Kalashnikov, in an interview later launched as a book called "Rajadas da história"(Rapidfires of history), dennounced his Era as the era of stagnation, and Brezhnev's Era as the era of corruption.

Only revisionists and defenders of privileges for bureaucracy were against Stalin.

  • The proletariat of all countries unite.

    Long live socialism!

  • I mean no disrespect, but what you have to say about Stalin is the common lies, slander, and false over blown information that the capitalist and revisionist have been claming for years.

It dosent make it true at all tho

Thanks to Stalin's leadership and what was done during his rule in the Soviet Union, the fascist war machine was taken down and the USSR became a world super power.

It was as soon Stalin's work was denounced that the USSR started to go downhill and seriously fell behind.

  • Of course. Those people who I know who's parents or great-grandparents magically disappeared during the purges... Those people weren't real. They were made up by evil, power-hungry, demonic capitalists. And Nikita Khrushchev. And Mikoyan. And all those that were in Stalin's inner circle.

It was also thanks to Stalin that possibly over 30,000,000 Soviet Soldiers and civilians lost their lives during World War II.

Denying the crimes of Stalin is like denying the crimes of Adolf Hitler.

  • I'm not going to deny that Stalin did very good work in building up the agriculture (After World War II, Soviet agriculture never reached the same levels it had previous to the war) of the Soviet Union, as well as heavy industry. At a great cost to human life, Stalin preserved stability in the Soviet Union, and lengthened the life span of the country another whopping 30-something years before his death.

Once again, if you deny that Stalin killed large numbers of people, you're an idiot.

  • For my third comment, I also ask you to consider closely what you said...

You are aware that propaganda and lies can come from communist parties, communists, and those who supported the former Soviet Union, no? There's boatloads of evidence, along with thousands - scratch that, millions - of former gulag slaves and even more people who had family members disappear due to Stalin's paranoia.

But if you'd like to ignore the evidence and say it was all made up by nasty capitalists, go ahead.

  • FYI, I'm not spreading "lie" about Stalin, just to reiterate for the fourth time now - the only bits I had in there about Stalin was the date when he started implementing his Five-Year Plans, and some information and pictures about the Purges.

  • wooow 5/5 i love it

  • Bravo Comrade ! Very nice video !

  • Very well done Ryanfarrick ! I think the use of the Internationale as a background music while showing the atrocities under Stalins' regime is well thought of. It shows that something that started as a good idea and a new hope for the workers of the world, soon became a nightmare for those living within Stalins' reach. It's unfortunate that modern day Communists / Socialists have had to take on the role of apologists for the crimes that Stalin commited. Very well done Ryan, hope to see more !

  • Comrade, Excellent VIDEO! One of my favorite anthems. SALUTE!!!

  • Stalin screwed over marxist principles....and that's comming from somoene (me) who isn't a marxist anymore.....I at least understand that Stalin was a hypocrite and did not care for communism...........and/or socialism; now if only more people realized he wasn't a marxist.

  • good video my friends

    long live to SSSR

    5+++++

  • Russia failed many battles against nazies and finns, cause Stalin murdered all the best russian war-generals for some stupid fear of resistance, but in 1942 in Stalingrad war-luck turned to the russians and they beated the faschists and started their march to Berlin. Finally in 1945 the III Reich was crushed and jews get to freedom from the jail of evil.

  • What a fuck ! Stalin ? Again ? No more Stalin ! Stalin's USSR is not in it's best days. After Lenin's death all goes strange...Maybe glory to Lenin but no glory for Stalin ! I am NOT Trotskyist and I am not Stalinist ! I am only a Marxist Communist !

  • I hope you didn't have that directed at me, Cossack? Since I thought I made it rather clear that I do not support Stalin, and I am no longer a communist, just a socialist, therefore I am not very biased at all with the making of this video...

  • why arent you a communist ?

  • Because I do not believe it is possible to even conceive of having of no notion of private property, much less eliminate in. If I do not believe in the elimination of private property, which is a key tenant/principle of communism, I am not a communist, now am I?

  • Now that is only necessarily true if you conformed to certain stati...communism is about the abolishment of private property, but who says it cant be gradual?

    Capitalism -> Socialism -> Communism

thats the easiest process, and you are following it well...needless to say that were both correct in principle. Nice work on the video, you have earned a spot on my favourites.

  • The way I see it, if one person steps out of line in a true communist society, in any way, shape or form, the communist society ceases to be.

It would be impossible to eradicate crime, and impossible to have a society without some form of government - and once you have a government, you have people with power over others, as well as various forms of property, which means that the state of communism has been ruined.

  • Every system have some stability. One village (for some reason) marketing for few weeks will not instantly turn whole land from communism back into capitalism. Not mentioning the fact that moneyless classless system is much simplier and convenient then any other. When will be communism achieved internationaly it will stay for centuries and luckily for ever. Crime, wars and hate are (direct or indirect) results of class-divison and greed and will die off (almost completely) in late socialism

  • cont 2:

Sure, there exist a very small portion of non-(class division) based crime and problems but those will be defeated with increasing strenght of education, medical-care and science.

  • cont 3:

This vid speaks truth... but not the full truth. Tzar's crimes not mentioned. You've chosen 1917-1945 period and after brief introduction you meet Stalin and Purges... But what about aplhabetization, electrization, ending the war, women rights, gay rights and all improvements done by Lenin. The worker's counciles rule in 1917-1921. The context (24 invading armies from western countries trying to crush Lenin's revolution and defend their financial interests).

  • cont 4:

Truly this vid reminds me Glenn-Beck (not sure with spelling, sorry). More inteligent and truthful but I have a snaking suspiction that your point was to say "Communism (the theory) is a bloody evil thing which we should never even dream about". What about Hussites, Paris Commune, Catalonia, Kibbutz? No, you have chosen Stalin instead to show us some "winning all" argument.

  • cont 5:

I know what you will say, that you were "just concerned" in the USSR/Bolshevic Russia in 1917-1945... But even from this era you have chosen some parts to stress a bit more... I would have no objections if it were called "Stalinism in the USSR". But anyway, stalinism sucks, and vanguard-party concept sucks as well. I would be for Counicles rule (some extended "Soviet democracy") without political parties. This would pervent the stalinist betrayal as well as the reformist one.

  • And so you propose, that to limit the power of those who would seek to overthrow the system, you invest it all in groups of people known as "Councils"?

Nice idea. I mean, assuming that every member of every council is perfect, and incapable of abusing power or succumbing to self-invoked corruption.

And yeah, you completely failed to explain how we'd go about reaching "late stages of socialism" and "true communism". Speculation doesn't solve anything. Neither do un-applied theories.

  • Dude. Your "cont 4" post makes me think you're an idiot.

I'm a socialist. I used to BE a communist. It would be relatively hypocritical for me to just denounce communists as an entire group.

Stop pointing out devils in the night where none exist.

Rather unfortunately for you, a "relatively short" history of the USSR does not entail the contents of an entire textbook. It entails and chronicles major events.

The Bolshevik Revolution, the Purges, WWII - those are major events. Sorry.

  • private property over the means of production ;) , not private property like house or car or something like that .

  • Marx specifically states that communism is the "abolishment of private property", or something of the like. He makes references to worker's owning and controlling the means of production, but he does not ever say that they are the same thing.

  • Yes he does ! Read the communist manifest :) and more specialy , read Socialism or Anarchism by Stalin .

  • "Communism is a socioeconomic structure and political ideology that promotes the establishment of an egalitarian, classless, stateless society based on common ownership and control of the means of production and property in general."

  • What is this ?

  • Quote from Wikipedia, which, regardless of what most people say, is generally correct.

  • Well the dude that made that article dosnt know what communism is ! Start reading communist books :)

  • Dictionary definition says the same things.

I'm a bit offended that you assume that I haven't read "communist books". I have a copy of the Communist Manifesto (Which I think is horribly written) and Das Kapital, as well as a 600 page plus biography of Nikita Khrushchev, one of Stalin, Lenin, Mao, and several books on the subjects of imperialism and anarchy by Noam Chomsky.

  • I mean no disrispect

So if you have so many books , why dont you read them :) . And if you are a socialist do you belive in the dictatorship of the proletariat ?

  • ...? I have read them, quite a few times over. Just because my interpretation of Marx is different than yours doesn't mean that yours is inherently correct. At any rate, most people seem to agree with my interpretation.

And no, I do not believe in the so-called "dictatorship of the proletariat". We've all seen how that's turned out.

  • In this sense, the theory of Communists can be summed up in this single sentence: the abolition of private property.

Karl Marx, The Communist Manifesto, page 67 (In my edition, at least)

  • Marx seems to feel that the goal of communism should be geared more toward the abolition of bourgeoisie property. He does not believed that earned wages and the fruits of such can be used to buy private, but instead they create only capital therefore, all the physical holdings of the worker are not actually property, meaning that with the abolishment of bourgeoisie property, private property, in the modern sense, is also vaporized.

  • Then what are you arguing abouth ? And if you dont belive in the dictatorship of the proletariat then you arnt eavan a socialist . The State reprisetns a dictatorship of one class over the outher.

  • Are you kidding me?

I have no idea where you're getting your ideas and theories from, but whatever that statement is, it's absolute bogus. Socialism, in a NON-MARXIST FORM (Marx did not invent every socio-economic theory, hate to break the news!) is a system that strives to give more equal access to resources to all citizens, as well as giving them more control over their means of production. It can be as simple as having a socialized healthcare plan, it doesn't have to be extreme.

  • It's also ironic that you, a claimed Marxist, seem to support the Soviet Union. Need I say more on that matter?

Socialism in Marxism is the middle transition stage from capitalism to communism. I think I already cleared up that socialism does not have to fall under Marx's "dictatorship of the proletariat" theory.

  • Here's another nice little quote for you:

"Socialism is not a concrete philosophy of fixed doctrine and programme; its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic rationalisation (usually in the form of economic planning), sometimes opposing each other."

I really do hate to be the one to break it to you, but there are different interpretations of different economic and social philosophies and ideas, and just because you have your mind set on one doesn't mean we .

  • all share the same ideas as you. You tell me that *I* need to read up on communism, and I very much return your own advice to you - you are, in this case, displaying great ignorance in your assumption that I must follow Marx's exact ideas on socialism, and not branch off with my own beliefs, or the beliefs of a non-Marxist party.

Many Socialist parties are strongly opposed to communism and Marxism.

    Sorry.

  • hah ,then you are a reformist ?

  • What do you mean by "reformist"? Reformist of what?

I am not reforming any of Marx's theories - socialism and socialistic ideals have been along long before Marx published any major works.

  • reforming capitalism . Like the laborists in the UK or the socialists in France or the Bulgarian socialist party in Bulgaria ;)

  • I wouldn't say so, no. I don't believe that we should have a government that is entirely socialistic or capitalistic - we need a healthy balance of free trade, as well as state restrictions and programs to benefit those in need.

Since I'm not trying to "reform" capitalism (And it's not really possible to reform an IDEA, in my opinion - you can reform acts and the ways ideas are applied, but not the idea itself), I guess I don't consider myself a reformist in your sense of the word.

  • But you are a reformist , this is what reformism is ! You dont want to change the sistame , but to make it batter ?

  • Congratulations, It looks great!

  • Greetings comrade, nice video, keep doing your work, long live bolshevism !!!

  • Great video comrade! Keep up the good work.

  • The cut off on the music was a bit too sudden. Could've faded it off towards the end, which I think there's an option for in WMM.

  • Alright, thanks. I'm not particularly familiar with the program, so I'll have to do a bit of experimenting later.

  • Great video! Very nice, brief lesson on Soviet history.

  • cool history lesson.

  • Thanks! =)

I'm going to try to get some video clips into the next one, I wasn't even thinking about it on this... Yeah, not really related, but whatever.
