The Empire started to dramatically decline after the death of Emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir because of weak rulers who started to divide the empire into small city states for their own gain.
It began under Aurangzeb, because he had all of those corrupt Nawabs to rule the distant parts of the Empire. It was the action of a corrupt Nawab that started the Pashtun insurgency.
@JacobTheIndoAmerican Friend Rajput accepted Mughal supremacy. They are no more close to Mughals. To save themselves from Mughals they gave their daughters. Later Rajput became slaves to British.

The attitudes that exist in India today against the Mughals have never been always so.Infact Bahadur Shah Zafar was acknowledged by both Hindus and Muslims;at the time of the uprising as the sovereign of Hindustan,and for which he did sacrifice also.Based solely upon this fact he deserves respect from all the consituents of the then Hindustan: India,Pakistan &Bangladesh.These nations missed a great opportunity by ignoring a common chapter in their history in missing the 150th anniversary of 1857
The failure of the uprising in 1857 denied India an alternate future,where it may have avoided the internal bickerings of 20th century sub-cont politics,by building upon the shared struggle against foreign yoke.I remember the Discovery of India program,years ago where Nehru lookalike and speaking for him(based on his book of same name) said that the next natural step would have been the setting up of industries and development like what Japan did at the same time.But alas it was not to be!
@zsam22 - You said it right. We do not need to fight but to find one common thread to accept each other. Don't bring religion in the mix and all things will work out.
We still have some people on both sides that do not want friendship between the Muslims & Hindus but majority of the people do and those people need to stand up and openly declare that people of India, Pakistan & Bangla Desh have a common thread. We still have time to accept the truth and offer each other the respect each deserve.
I think it's burmese.. which is kinda weird mix of Hindi, sanskrit, chinese and english languages... One of the guy in the video is speaking Hindi though with some urdu words..
You mean in the future?? Me thinks that India has to move past this old antiquated idea of dynasties and stuff and move towards greater democracy and economic development....

HaroonMogul , You missed the point in referring to Mughals as Indians. Aside from the first two Mughal rulers, the moghals born in Indian were the sons and daughters of India. You are making it look like the all Mughal rulers ruled their empire as foreign tyrants. That was not so.
I think some people here need to basically grow up or at least not get trapped and defined by history. WE are another generation and have a chance to make things better. Such ignorant rhetoric only breeds hatred and enmity amonst a people who are essentially the mirror of each other. Come on guys. Both Indians and Muslims should know better. As human beings we should know even more.
long live our king!may allah's blessing be on him. he fought till his last breath against the british. bahadur shah, (if the sepoys keep their faith and will, one day they will shake the foundation's of london} ahamdullila we did!7/7
@stepper444 I don't think that Bahadur Shah fought the British o wanted to but he was put in a difficult situation being selected to represent all of India though his power at the time was limited to, from what I read, the Delhi area. Funny that how different Maharajas of many Indian states invited the British in vying for power and only when they realized that they were in deep trouble, they went running to Bahadur Shah. Too late by then.
Aurangzeb was a great leader, what are you talking about? Your just too ignorant to understand, the world would be no where without Islam! Quit making such LIES up!

@pskillaraplord Your Khalsa means Khalistan was wiped in one night stand during Operation Blue Star by Mrs Indira Gandh and don't say that you killed Indira Gandhi which will make me laugh coz it was her greatness that she retained the sikh security gard who turned to be traitor of the nation.
@mnkhan2020 You said that Mughals would be no where without Indian Subcontinent and that the Mongols have destroyed everything in china, central Asia & afghan territories till turkey. But you didn't say that Islam made the Mongols to become what they became: The Mughuls. India didn't give the Mughals anything free; the Mughuls earned it by their bravery.
@suryavajra Auranzeb was a one of the greatest emperors too. If it was not for him then Mughal empire would have collapsed a lot earlier after Jahangir's poor ruling and Shahjahan's extravagance.
The problem with Aurangzeb was his intolerance. The kind of intolerance that turned otherwise loyal subjects into bitter enemies. Plus Aurangzeb rapidly expanded the Empire further, spending a lot more of the treasury on campaigns in the Deccan. So there was still extravagance, but on waging war, which sapped the treasury.
Also remember, towards the end, there was a Pashtun rebellion. So essentially he was fighting multiple insurgencies and wars of expansion. Essentially it was merely Shah Jahan's extravagance by another name. The Mughal Empire at the time of his death was actually weaker than it was when he took the throne.
kuckudk, People like you have no shame generalizing like that while it's the muslims who suffer most from the Islamist (not Islamc) terrorists. Learn the difference.
In 16th century, Muslim armies consisting of Mongol, Turkic, Persian, and Afghan warriors invaded India,If it wasn't for Jai Rajputs, Jai Marathas whole of then india(pakistan, bangladesh) would have been forced conversion to 100% muslims. Now is the time to recapture.
such lies and filth that you have come up with! your obviously an ignorant person, who knows little, if anything about History! Also pakistan was Muslim 1000 years before India, and the armies originated in Pakistan! The modern state of Pakistan is the recreation of these empires!
BS. NO SUCH THING AS PAKISTAN. Pakistan is India historically & will remain so. MUSLIM armies ORIGINATED from Afghan to Central Asian rulers NOT pakistan which is India historically. Modern state of Pakistan is created for Muslims well being & in Islam's name. Mughal empires & Delhi sultanates were rulers, kings who happens to be Muslims & Mughals practiced Liberal Islam. Modern Pakistan is a Terror harboring state created by British Raj.
you should not moan too much about indian division , if you go back into history , india was spread out to iran which includes afghanistan , now stop moaning about pakistan ok ...
Remmber that there were Hindus and Muslims fighting on all sides. Indeed Babur's Army consisted of Turks and Persian Qizilibash. But the first enemy they faced in India was the Sultan of Dehli, Ibrahim Lodi who was Afghan.
Remember that when Akbar was fighting Rana Pratap, the general of his armies was Ran Man Singh who was himself a Hindu Rajput of royal blood. So history in real life is complicated indeed!!
1857 Incident- infamously, their severed heads presented to him in plates instead of his food. No tears were shed when shroudless they were laid in common graves;
No prayers were read for the noble dead, unmarked remain their graves.
The heart distressed, the wounded flesh, the mind ablaze, the rising sigh;
The drop of blood, the broken heart, tears on the lashes of the eye.
But things cannot remain, O Zafar, thus for who can tell?
Through Allah's great mercy and the Prophet
All may yet be well.
