It may have been at the end but it was because the germans finally got overpowered from constant bombing and millions of american troops attacking from two flanks. We probably should have gotten involved earlier, but don't discount what we did to help the ally cause. The a-bombs on japan were after germany had surrendered and japan was still fighting, they had just joined the axis forces and we stopped it

Actually America took aver as the world superpower 'because' of WW2. Before the war Britain was the most advanced country, followed by Germany, the the US, then France. Britain was the most technologically advanced nation, we had RADAR, the first ever computers, sonar, and the world's most agile aircraft (the spitfire). However, despite all that, Germany by far had the most technologically advanced bombs, tanks, and guns. Which meant that in most cases they had the advantage.

first of all i am not american, i am a canadian with no paticular love of america, however i do reconize his influence on the world.
as for why it wasn't a landslide, it just reflects how americans don't all thin the same and have different views, but the reality is that obama is their president and that won't change soon.

Electoral votes are actually extremely important, along with relevant to whatever argument there may be involving an American election. Electoral votes are what determine who does/ doesn't get elected. HOWEVER, the electoral votes are determined by who the specific state is mainly in favor of. And second, how exactly are Americans diverse from the British? Besides culture, WE'RE ALL STILL HUMAN. It makes you sound prejudice when you say "You Americans."

Don't presume that your economy is fantastic because you can vote for your political leader. I agree with most of the comments that I read about the people interviewed being complete idiots though. We also vote for our leaders but not necessarily a candidate but a party. The three most popular ones are Labour (currently in power), Liberal Democrats and Conservatives.
