Back in the days of limewire, I was about 14 and I found this song under Godspeed You Black Emperor. People had taste back then. This song changed my life.
And then you hear this song, and you start to cry, for all those who have passed like phantoms in my eyes and especially for those you love now who I hope never say goodbye.
Finding new music through other medias is one way in which music can grow and expand, and if you slate and deem it to be wrong, then you my friend are denying music the chance to reach places it normally wouldn't.
Take me for example, i am a massive metal and classic rock fan and if it weren't for American Dad i would never have found this music and because i enjoy this music but found it through AD your saying im wrong? Why is that?
why the fuk is it that every single mmj video has comments about american dad? its a lame cartoon, who the fuk cares. if thats the only way you heard of my morning jacket your lame too
SOMEONE THAT WAS TRYING TO GET ME INTO COHEED TOLD ME ABOUT THIS BAND A WHILE BACK. SINCE I DIDN'T CARE FOR COHEED NOR THAT CERTAIN SOMEONES TASTE IN MUSIC, I JUST WROTE THIS BAND OFF... I APOLOGIZE TO MY MORNING JACKET... THEIR MUSIC IS BEAUTIFUL....
yeah i also found out about them from american dad, its been harder to stay up to date with music since i only recently got back internet back and dont listen to radio but does anyone know the song they play at the end of the american dad episode? they have a clip of them live at the very end of the show.
american dad is the prophet that brought the gospel of MMJ to the larger community. anything this beautiful should be released free into the world by any means
@brentonm1988 yes definatley, they cut down people for discovering them on my American Dad, its not about where you found them, its the fact that you did find them.
My Morning Jacket has become one of my favorite bands, as they mix classic rock and blues rock so well. I didn't think I'd be into the older, country-esque stuff, but it's not what I'd define as country. It really is a shame that this, REAL American music, goes unnoticed while rap and pop stars are rewriting what American music is. At least the Brits can compensate with Muse, Radiohead, and Coldplay.
Way to be a close-minded ass clown. There are hundreds of fantastic British bands out there. And I'm sure many of them inspired Yim Yames and MMJ. Oceansize, The Beatles, Nick Drake!! HEELLLOOOO schmuck!
makes me cry..every single time....even if it just gets in my head. makes me think of mom and her health, remember her looking up at me in a hosp bed saying to me to straighten up
I love MMJ! My best friend..... this was one of our faveorite bands. My best friend died last June. I found this song afterwards. It brings back good memories of him and bad memeries of holding his hand in the hospital as he died. I miss him. I miss him so much!
@TheFrozenLads found out about mmj at bonnarroo was rolling hard and come over to there stage and really thought i was in heaven...amazing staring into the stars and it was a light drizzle...never forget it
amazing some people actually thought my morning jacket was made up for american dad. amazing. little too much nickelback and linkin park goin around these days.
@EliteBeave U FORGOT 3 DOORS DOWN...THAT MAKES THE HOLY TRINITY OF SHIT GENERIC MACHINES THATLL BE PUMPIN OUT THE SAME CRAP FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS. I DONT KNOW HOW THEY MANAGE. I JUST HOPE SOMETHIN COMES ALONG TO KNOCKEM ON DEY ASSES. LOL
@blasticpuddhas the name of the episode was "my morning straightjacket"... they had a lot of songs on there. also, with the end credits, they showed actual footage of them live at okonokos doing wordless chorus
@LeninfromUSSR that is awesome. i recommend looking up "my morning jacket - okonokos" and watching some live stuff (one big holiday, anytime, at dawn...) they're all amazing. thanks for the post :-) go see them live if possible, trust me.
@EliteBeave Neither of those bands have anything to do with american dad, nor my morning jacket. That's just mainstream, which is also irrelevant. Just rant about nickleback and linkin park somewhere else. This is MMJ.
bite your tongue. Conor voice may not have the range as jim, or as elegant, but after listening to this, and the one with Conor, I prefer the one with Conor. Now if it was just conor I wouldn't like it as much. But together they added a great blend to the song.
strangulation and death is my sleazy pay i think is mmj at their best, their new albums are just good, this in the other hand, is spiritual, is magnificent, you can feel like jim is singing at your side, no words can describe it
gideon, at dawn, STRANGULATION, i will be there when you die, death is the easy way, i just wanted to be your friend, i think i'm going to hell, bermuda highway, where to begin, hopefully. start with those, if you need more great tracks, just ask. also search youtube for their acoustic chorale, it is brilliant. its only 5 or 6 songs but its most of the ones i named.
i'm new to my morning jacket. what else are some good songs?? so far i only have their evil urges album. i'm liking their older songs like this and one big holiday too. any suggestions?
imho there older stuff is far superior to the new. Their album The Tennessee Fire is one of the best albums i've ever heard. Nashvile to Kentucky never gets old. Saw these guys at some little art house in Phoenix - Modified Arts - in like 2000. One of the best perfromances I've ever seen.

This is a very sentimental, scorching, emotional masterpiece of affection that comes across so effortlessly. The acoustics are soft and grow on you with its evident solid rhythm. The lyrics are very precise, intelligent and used so wisely. One of their top songs. A+ job!
I want this song to have some sort of physical incarnation so I can just hug it.

There is a special level of HELL for people who dislike this shit..
Its a bowling alley, where they only serve flat PBR on tap, and the same 3 songs play on the jukebox in constant rotation,
Tag Team's "Whoomp There It Is",
Wreckx-n-Effect's "Rump Shaker"
95 South's "Whoot There It Is"
You will learn to appreciate good music, if it takes an eternity
