I have played the game, and I know an attempt to harm when I see it. This was pretty blatant. That some are defending it is astonishing to me. If you have to cheat to beat an opponent (and eliminating an opponent from a play or game is, after all, cheating), then you are not *supposed* to win.

He should have been banned for a long time for such a blatant challenge.

Footballers should be protected from such forms of violence by firstly the referee and secondly the FA. Neither has done their duty in this case.
